ABOUT THIS EPISODE

After a nice break Jim and the guys are back to catch everyone with what's going on with Philly Sports. Let's first start and talk about all the trades from a very active NHL Hockey 2022-2023 free agency period. James Harden taking less money. Derrick Guns review of Jalen Hurts OTAs. The world of Philly Sports may slow down but never boring. Love this mix of Haden, to Hurts, to Hockey, to homers and back again.

Ten, five, four, mm hmmm. We're back again with another episode of the Santa Bood first podcast. Tonight we got topic pot Pourri, because a little slow as far as sports go, but there's always something to talk about in Philly Sports. So we'll be touching on, I think off four sports tonight. So we get into it. You're listening to another episode of the Santa Bood first podcast. Come on back, M HMM. Boo Boo boo, boo boom, boom, boom, boo, boo, boo boom. Good evening and welcome to another episode of the Santa Boo first podcast, coming to live from beautiful downtown Willow Grove, the lovely crack bell production studs Um on this lovely Thursday evening. To his left we've got the AP what's up, Smitty? Good, good, did you start getting that AP money yet? I've had that look. He's got a fresh hat, of course. Right to his left we got the youngest, Martin, Andrew So, keeping his live and on the air. Behind the glass we got nate Moss, bunny man. What's going on? Per Missing a couple of people tonight. Dj He may chime in, he said here, but he's feeling a little under the weather. Brodie man had practice. We'll get through. That's what we do. Excuse me, before we get started, to thank our sponsors, insure PHILLY DOT COM. Give our Guy Matt Maloney a call for all your insurance needs. Up to ten quotes in about ten minutes. His newest whiskey, his news bourbon, just came out a few weeks ago. A while Bill Grenier had it in here with this. It was fantastic, a very smooth bourbon, one on one proof and you wouldn't even know. And to mom and me is pizzeria keeping our bellies fault. Tonight we had the meat lovers. We know smitty loves his meat, so we got him a meat lovers and and upside down. Had to get pepperoni on the upside down because, like I said, smitty loves his meat. So we've heard. Yes, it was my turn a couple of weeks ago. It's your turn this week with my boy pat from down on. Yes, you did take a beating from roasting path. Looks like he's on here. And yes, flyers are a mess. We're going to get into that path plenty. To get into you have to a little bit. Come on. I made a comment in a in a forum somewhere, and I said sports is so dry right now. This is how I know football is the greatest sport in the world, because it's a soul dry and the comments that I got back that we're just like. I love it right now. I Love Hockey and I love baseball. Like you're lying. It's it's slow. It's so slow like that, like all the trades and everything. I know you guys are gonna get into it for hockey, but come on, like you weren't like your phone wasn't burning up like you weren't like, oh my guy, like it didn't turn to it didn't turn the need it didn't move the needle at all. And like the sports world, maybe a little bit, because I think the one guy that the flyers could have got, and it's just like we're not trying to win it all. But other than that, it was just like it just passed the super hot mess those flyers, and we'll get into that, um. Before we get into it, I do, I do have something to address. When the last time we were in here? Um, it seems more and more we come in here and we have to make a comment about the state of the world and I hate doing it, um, but this one hit a little closer to home, Um, and it's just the violence in this city is just crazy right now. Um, the gun violence especially, and this is these are my thoughts. These are not the thoughts of the gentleman in the room with me or craft belt production studios. If you want to take this as a political statement, go ahead, I don't care. I'm not a political guy. This is not a political statement. But this city needs to do something about the guns, the gun violence that this country needs to do something about the guns and a gun violence. Um, a couple of weeks ago my niece was gunned down buy a coward. I'm not even gonna call him...

...a man, not gonna call him a person's not a human. I'M NOT gonna disrespect animals by calling him an animal. He was a coward piece of Shit. I apologize to those who were listening, but it's a little raw, Um and it could have been stopped. Uh. If you want your guns, I get it. It's a constitutional right, but it needs to be more difficult to get a gun in this city than it is to get, Um, lottery ticket winnings. You need to fill out more paperwork to get lottery ticket winnings than you do to get a gun in the city. Um, you need to you get banned from buying two packs of Suita fit in this city. Um, but anybody can go and get a gun as long as you're a twenty one. Depending on the type of gun you want, you don't need to have any type of registration permit, no training, Um, no waiting period, no background check. It's ridiculous. Um, my my white's families had free tragedies due to guns, and two of them were unregistered guns. I'm not naive enough to think that this fixes everything, but something's got to be done. All Right, I'm not a politician, I'm not paid to do anything to fix it, but at this point I think people need to start doing something, Um, because obviously the politicians aren't doing it. Um. You know, I'm not saying take everybody's guns. So you people out there that feel the need to have your guns have them. I'm talking about gun control. Um. Obviously everybody should have the right to protect their families. Um, what happened this guy? From what it appears, he was just some fake tough guy and, uh, he wasn't keeping this gun for Um self defense. And there's a lot of people out there that I don't understand why you feel the need to walk around the city with a gun on your hip if you're not a business owner walking around with loads of cash. Um, if you don't feel that safe, and don't get on me for this, I know it's easy to say, but if you don't feel safe in your neighborhood, I just I don't know what to tell you. I'm sorry. This is why, Um, our politicians need to do something. I love this city. I've been hearing so many times. You need to get out of that city. Um. The one thing that makes me happy about this city is when something like this happens, the community around us that really chose the support and is there to help. I can't thank these guys. Are gonna room enough. People that don't even know us, our Guy Pat Sweeney. I mean there's people that we've never met giving donations, saying kind words, sending food. I got a list of UM businesses I'm going to thank. But the real point here is that we need to do something about the gun violence. There needs to be background checks, you need to do something for maybe it's control ammunition and like. Don't make it that easy. If Your Business owner, show me Your Business License, will expedite your gun process. But the fact that it's just so easy to get a fucking gun in this city and just do what's happening. And since that happened, there's been multiple more shootings, Um, in just a week. Um, you know a thirteen, fourteen and fifteen year old. I think the other night we're shot. Um, there was the car that pulled up in in Delaware County and the kid got out of the car and shot into the car while the mother was driving. The kid got back into the car and said, hop didn't kill anybody. What are you thinking? Why are you? Why are you shooting into that car then? Why? There's just there's a lot going on, Um, and just something needs to be done and I don't I feel like the politicians aren't really listening. This happens. We said it with the school shooting. You know, it happens. Everybody's in an uproar, everybody says something needs to get done and we kind of forget about it and it's it's a shame because that's how it happens. Um. We had Andrew Brody in here telling us how they practice drills in school for active shooters. SMITHY news all too well. Um, you know, my wife, my wife, my my niece, Um, completely innocent girl, wrong place, wrong time, had nothing at all to do what happened, and just this it's gone bag. Tried to be a fake tough guy, Um, and I hope he rots. I don't have an ounce of hate in my soul, but this guy, he gets it all, if I have any. So, as I said to these guys, and that last week we didn't have the show. You know, hug your hug your close ones a little tighter. You never know what's gonna Happen. This was a young girl just hanging out with her friends, not in anything. Um, but they make it way too easy to get a gun in this city. Um, yeah, you want to be a collector, collect your guns, you like your guns. I'll never have a gun. I'll never own a gun. I hope I would never have to use it. Um, I don't know if I'd be able to. I'm not saying take your guns away. So don't people come at me say, you know, we have a right. You have a right, not a privilege. There's...

...would be something you need to do to have that gun. Register it, take a class, registered annually. Um. It won't stop the Straw sales, I get that, but adding a little thing we can do to try to slow that down, I think needs to be done. Um. Yeah, so I I do want to thank a lot of a lot of businesses reached out. Um, the one I want to thank the most is Nick's rous beef man, the Guy Matt Rossy. He reached right out to the family and said, you know, I want to cover the lunch and I'm gonna do something for you guys. He doesn't know my family, he doesn't know any of us. We talked to all, my wife and I when we got there, and he just said I felt bad. I felt the restaurant industry owed your family something, Um, for the horrible tragedy that happened. So we really appreciate that. Um. Mama is uped up with these guys. These guys sent the family food. Really appreciate it. We had primos down in Mayfair, um sending food to family members Jefferson Hospital when my wife worked. They sent food. Um, Parkwood, but of factory, our friends patty and Dave, thank you. They sent Food Parkwood, youth organizations. So food, like everything was coming and, like I said, this is the great thing about this city, these communities. They show the support. They're there for you when you need it. They'll help lift you up. It's just a shame that you have a few scumbags. Um, you know, they just don't they just don't know how to be a human being. and Um, yeah, I don't want to keep rambling. We're here to talk sports. This is a distraction and that's what I wanted to be Um, but I felt like I had to say something, because it's just been eating at us, it's been eating at the family, Um, and it will continue to and Um anybody else that has gone through this in their family. You know, we feel for you and I just you know, I hope nobody close to me has to go through it. Um. Ever, and Uh Yeah, I'm gonna stop rambling and we'll get into some sports. Um, I don't know if it's two or already. To take a break. I don't know if you guys, if you guys, you guys, want to say anything. I want to take a break. I just want to say that I echo all your statements. So when you said that that was a statement by you, like I feel like that's a statement by all of us, you know. Like, like I said, when I first came into Santa Boot First, I've always felt that, you know, it was a family Um and I think even when you go through tragedies, you see, you know, how special just group is and you know, just continued prayers and support for your family, to Holtim family everyone affected by this tragedy, because you know, these things don't need to happen. And and and that was the more of what you said. And you you know, you said it beautifully in a way in which you know, we know you're angry, but your point is is that there needs to be things that have to be done, because a lot of this stuff can be controlled. It can be controlled and you know, if, if there's something that you know we can do or be the voice of change, you know, I think we need to. Um, I agree with you. Like I have a lot of friends to have guns, and nobody saying take away your guns, but like you should not be able to go to a gun show and get rifles. You should not be able to. And I get what you know, Joe White said, like any of the problem is everybody needs to you know, can get a gun, but the thing is we need to make guns harder to get. That's the key. That needs to be us. Um. So I I just want to you know, let you know that we support you. Know, I love your family. Um, you know we're always gonna be there for you. Thank you. Um. The first thing I want to say is don't ever apologize for what you say. You said earlier on. You apologize for for something. You don't ever need to apologize for anything, especially concerning that and Santa Boo. First is a family. Um, you know what happens to want of this happens to office and uh, that you know. That's the way I feel about it. Um. And regarding guns, I didn't grow up with with guns. Never had guns in my house when I was a kid. I didn't know anybody who had a gun. Guns weren't in the sixties and seventies and eighties, guns weren't nearly as prevalent as they are today. People settle things with their fists and they were friends again the next day or whatever. Um, but times have changed, the world has changed and I think one of the things that has changed is the culture that we live in now. There's a culture of not caring about life or property, and until that culture changes, we're going to continue to have these issues. People have to continue, or have to start, caring about things that are precious again, and I feel that there's a culture of not caring about things that are precious, and life is the most precious thing that we have and if if you don't care about that, then you end up doing things like that cowardly piece of ship did...

...in the parking lot that night. Um. Regarding access to guns, I too don't care if you want to gun. I know people with guns. Um, it's it's it's your right, it's in the constitution to have guns. That's fine. There's a certain segment of the population today that should not be allowed within ten miles of a gun. Those who have a restraining order against them, those who have had domestic violence in their past, those who are on psychotic drugs. There's a whole list of types of people who should not have access to guns. Background checks, universal background checks, is a must. You somebody can't walk into a gun show and just say I like that one, I think I'll buy it and be able to walk out with it and then go do whatever it is they're going to do with it there there there needs to be a universal background check in every possible way you can score a gun. Uh, yes, there are going to be strong purchases, there are going to be UH gun sales on the street, the black market. There's not a whole lot you can do about that and and I recognize that, but there are things that we can do, politicians and society together that would make it a lot more difficult for the wrong people to get access to a gun, and that's what needs to happen. Coupled with changing the culture of a lack of caring for precious things. All right, I think it's a let's take a break here and we'll come back and we'll get into what everybody's really here for. We'll talk some sports. Lots of lots of things happening, maybe exciting things, but lots of sports to talk about. So, Um, thank you for thank you for being fans and watching and for the support. I know there's folks out there listening, Um, that showed their support. Um, whether it's just kind words, the donations, everything. The family really does appreciate it. Um. And Yeah, like, yeah, let's make sure our justice system works, Um, and the family can get a little bit of peace. But thanks for hanging out. We'll take a quick break. We'll be right back. Thanks for hanging through the commercial there keep you many time to take a bio break. So we are back. Like I said, plenty to talk about. Maybe not the most exciting time in Philly Sports, but lots to talk about. What do you got, Andrew? What? What? Oh, you want to water sucks. So we're gonna talk. We're gonna hit all four tonight. Right. Where do we want to go? Where are we going? First? We want to get heated first. What do we want to laugh? First? Every team's gonna get you heated right now. Anything's gonna get but let's let's, let's see if I can combine to two topics. Right, we'll see if this works. So, James Harden and Johnny Hockey. Right, Oh God, we're going here. We're going here. Hardened put his money where his mouth is. Right, Harden said I want to win. I'll take less. Now we don't know what type of Shenan agains...

...are happening behind the seeds. You see that they're saying, AH, there needs to be an investigation in a campering. Yeah, it was like, oh, so fanatics gives him an endorsement deal for a hundred million dollars. So be it. A sneaker company could come to it, a power drink company could come to it. It just happens to be one of the former owners of the six years. Maybe he thinks harden is a very marketable guy. But, and you guys know, the last couple of months I've been very down on the beard. Have hammered him. I'm still not sold that he's going to be the player we expect him to be. But look, he said I'll take with a fifteen million dollars less. We haven't actually seen a deal yet, right, he hasn't signed a deal with we haven't seen a deal yet. But if the deal goes the way in which it looks like it's going to go, which is a one year plus a one, I think the sixers benefit really well, even if he's not a long term piece, because if the guy wants to get paid, he's gonna bowl out this year. So we can get a Max contract and even opt out. If it's not him Philly, it's somewhere else. So like, either way, I think it benefits. I think. I think the way it plays out personally is if harden has a good year, his boys already here from you know, Tucker's already year, so I think he'll re up. But I also think the sixers are able to get out of it and if you think about it, like him opting out was probably the best thing for the team because it allowed them to sign Tucker and allowed them to sign house, which is better than just having hardened. Right, yeah, but but so I think I think, you know, I think it's a win win for the sixers because it doesn't work out next year he's gone. I like that too. Write because you're talking about him signing a Max deal. It would have been multiple years and I think he's on the down turn from his career. He's not his prime anymore. He's still a young guy and basicball players they have a longer career than football players. But I don't know, I feel like he's on the downturn. So you get two years out of him and you can after one year you can say, all right, you either gonna get paid or you're gonna walk or you're gonna take your option, and then you stuck with him another year. Now we don't know what that option is. Yeah, I have to see all that stuff. Probably forty seven million to make that money back would be my guess. You know, the second year, would bet you think he's gonna want you think you gotta make it more because he's sticking around, or do you think there's so do you think there's stuff going on behind the scenes? You think he's gonna get some type of endorsement deal from fanatics? Don't you think he's getting paid somewhere else's he'll probably getting paid somewhere else. I don't think it'll be an endorsement deal from fanatics, because he's never fanatics. I know for a fact. In the past is thrown a lot of money at his way. He doesn't want to do the autograph thing, but who knows, it might change now. Right, it might change now if he's that fifteen million dollars is made up to sign some autographs. Just another speck it to turn on for that money to pour through. Um It is, you know, as you know, like I'm a big believer that like he's going to bounce back right and and I think that like one of the things that I'd really like to see from him that I haven't seen. And again it's like I don't want to fall into the Ben Simmons markel folds were like we see videos, but like it looks like he's actually trying to get himself in flying shape and, like I said, I think that only benefits the six ers. Even if he has a he becomes Houston Harden for a year and we can't keep him, it's gonna be because he wants to get paid. So I think it works out. He definitely won't be hot. No, yeah, I think you're not going to see those days. I mean if almost Houston, harden will take he was almost. Yeah, I mean like I also think like again, because of what and people need to realize when he was in Houston, like he was doing it himself. When he went to Brooklyn, he had durant and he had Kyrie. When he came here he's had he's got Maxi Harrison and be like he doesn't need to be that guy, but if he can be the facilitator and a score when and beads on the bench, that's what you want. Liken to ten and twelve, like whatever I think, then then that's worth it. And I think and twelve, if you get from him consistently, then I think this team, you know, it is a team the reckon in the eastern now, like what? What? What? I even out it, like his numbers are good enough now. It's just the problem is is what has always been. This problem is he shrivels up in big moments right, which is you know what I mean, like if he can get over that Hump where he shows up when you need him to show up, like literally need him to show up, like or he just just show when your number is called to be the second option like, if you can do that, he'll be fine, and that was my issue with him. That was my issue with him this year. And you know what about him. He did that. Yeah, but I guess I was I was sold on a bigger bill of goods that he wouldn't be, that he'd come here and he'd save all or problems and if maxi takes a step to...

...be the number two or three b then I'm fine. From harden at a cheaper rate for two years. No, no, no complaints on my side. I want to know, Jim, how you're not all in on hearted if they're watching the video of him, Tyrese and Sam Cassell running that drill again and Sam giving it to him and yes, and tyree's cracking off at the edge, how are you not all in on that? Like smidy said, how many offseason videos have we seen of players that? I said that from firmly played out a cheek. He's trying to start something with me because I posted the video. Yeah, but harden loves basketball a little bit like you. You see, there's videos of hard and going one on one in Kobe. You know what I mean, like other you know, summer leagues and stuff like that. I actually saw that, like I was surprised. He blocked Kobe's fade. I was like what were I would love to see that hard, but that was, you know, that was a little bit a little beard, you know, low Caesar, cut harden, no beard, peach, fuzzhrd. So now I'm tying us into Johnny Hockey, right. Everybody was all excited, all geeked up. Johnny Hockey. Johnny Gudreau is coming to the flyers. He wants to play for his hometown team. I think he did, but that's that's what these athletes are to stay the right. They they want to pander to the look at look at all the t shirts. The coaches in the players way were like people are giving him these shirts. Him even like eight million as opposed to nine and a half. He comes here with Columbus, I think. If it was closer to the deal, maybe, but it was all about money, because Columbus was never even in the picture. Right. Calgary offered him a buttload and he said No. I think he just wanted to get Canada and then you heard it was the devil's or the islanders, and all of a sudden Columbus comes out of nowhere. Columbus has a nice little spot. ARE THEY gonna win? I mean they got what do they got? They got Patrick Laney and they got check. Are they on the level of Tampa Bay Colorado Rangers and oilers? No, but at least they have some young town on like the not. Well, yeah, yeah, uh he I. It's it looks to me that he was just going wherever he got the biggest paycheck. Yeah, you got to understand about Calgary. Their their tax brackets are so much more than the United States. You have to get overpaid, um in Canada to be equal here. It's like New York versus Philly. Right, YOU'RE gonna pay three thousand dollars for a one bedroom studio in New York and you can get a house for that in Philly for for a month because because the tax rates are so much, so different and so much higher in Canada, Um, you have to get paid more in Canada to eat have the equal amount of money here. So you know, it's it's yeah, Calgary offered more money, but how much all that more money was he actually going to put in his pocket and not have to pay taxes? And you know, yeah, everybody, you know they play up the hometown thing and this and that. Apparently he wasn't willing to take a hometown discounty. He didn't want to play here that bad and this, and the flyers right and the and I was just going to say the flyers are in no position to be paying that kind of money unless they move some people off the roster, and right now they can't do that. But they can add crumbs. That's what they can add. Can you tank in hockey? Yeah, yeah, aren't? They trying to fix their draft system and they'll fix it this year and the flyers will get screwed, they'll tank and they'll say, Oh, you know, halfway through the year we're gonna change the draft system and we picked top five like the NBA. J VR screwed US twice. He's, he's we haven't been we're not getting good drew because we couldn't get rid of him and we didn't get Patrick Kane. Did he screw us, or did the or did the upper management screw he took the money. You'RE gonna say no, in the number two pig have kane that year. If we have one, we want to have Kane. I'm saying JVR was the that was like the Evan Turner, the door prize. Seriously, Dude, J Vr, like he's okay hockey player. People talk about him in the town like he's he's not Patrick Kane. Yeah, exactly. But here's my problem, main, main problem with the flyers. I got multiple you got great Oscar Limblo, who's you know whatever, and Sanders picked him up right away. So I don't want to hear that he can't play. You got rid of a guy and you brought in dolorous, who was a fighter, and you freaking call back map brawn or whatever. Yeah, I don't even care what his name...

...is. There it's it's coming through them and they're a dumpster fire. They're a mess. What's the point to get a twenty six year old defenseman, giving him five million, giving all your draft picks away? If you're trying to tank, you need to score to win these games, right, it's not. They got no scorers. Yeah, they're completely gritty. That's it. That's the flyers pretty yeah, that's their identities. that. We've said that many times. That changed the fly to freaking gritty, his face in the middle there with the wings coming off the bat. Until this team now. Gave me started and I'm gonna be Tring that much about the freaking flyers until I sell that Goddamn team. They ain't going anywhere. Those guys don't care and and anybody that's out here listening, it's a flyers fans that goes to flyers geames. I urge you because the phillies and they did it a couple of years ago and it actually made a difference. Don't show up to that arena. That's the only way the owners are gonna Change. Remember when the Allies didn't show up? I don't think they magically did. I'm just saying that that put in their pockets by not showing up. I don't think they are. You know, attendance is down. They're not selling out. I'm talking about I want to be the they should be the lowest attendance in the League. Next year should be like it should be like a Tampa Bay rays stadium. Remember what happened when the Phillies, if you remember the Phillies, the year they got Harper, that that off season they had like one of the lowest attendants in the latest ten years. That's the only way you get these owners put it in their freaking pocket. WHO GIVES A ship? Stop buying a gritty merchandise too. I'm talking to myself too, because I buy it, but kids love it. I don't care. It's an embarrassment. So here's the thing. Remember we talked about yesterday, and I'm not kidding. I rank that asshole Fletcher five as the GM in the city. And you can put the Philadelphia Union GM. I don't even know it's. What about six, because you've got the stars now too. It's the stars, GM six, bear Smith. Yeah, I'm right there. You guys should start watching the union over the flyers. I'm not gonna have topen. Well, you should. They're more action there. Way Are way better than shoot. Dude, I know I'm not gonna convince you, but yeah, you're not gonna get me to a soccer I don't care about the flyers next year. Remember we sat here. I was thinking about this as the other night when we were talking about flyers. You guys remember the first two weeks and we had on tones and we're like, Oh man, they're back. Yeah, they got back. What's his name? Atkinson? Oh, yeah, they went out to Edmonton. Then what happened? Dude? They suck. So even if they start five and out, everybody relaxed. I try, I try every year to be like, all right, this is the year I'm gonna get back into hockey, because I love hockey too. But there's nothing. What do you like? Any other thing? I'm tired of hearing two from the organizations, these young players. I've heard about Cam York being a stunt defenseman still in the minors. Travis connecting can't hit a net. Hit The net if it was twenty one. All these young guys got another connecting. That's the same one, the same one, Travis. Oh, yeah, yeah, you can't hit the net. He can't hit the net. If, if he was the goal. I agree with I agree with DJ perfect line yesterday. Dj I hope you're listening. PROVOF stinks more than pro bolowe cheese. But who who are you going down there to watch? And the other thing is they finally got themselves what I think could be a prime time goalie and they're wasting them. I don't think. Yeah, I don't even know that. Yeah, maybe that guy. That's what's he got. Kick it out. They just signed the best, the biggest thug in the league. Right. That the biggest enforcer in the league. I'm almost tired of the people that are like blaming hextall. HEXTALL DIDN'T GET TRADE FOR RISK A get my dad fired up the comments. He said, here's the thing. Hextall didn't give all those picks away. HEXTALL didn't trade ghosts for nothing and then signed D'Angelo. HEXTALL didn't trade for wrist alone and or what happened to hell. His name is from Buffalo, and gave him five million. Mr Marcus Ron. hextall killed the flyers with numerous awful draft picks from Joe White. Hextall was the only one that wanted Nolan Patrick. Everyone else in the organization. I agree with that, but hextall, then Fletcher could have got it, and I gave out these horrible contracts. You no clue what it sounds good. You gave people money. You gave money and draft picks to Phoenix to get ghosts who had a fifty one point season and then you gave away all your draft picks of Carolina for the same defenseman that you had in your organization and gave five million dollars. They're not a good organization. I don't think you're chuck Fletcher's an idiot, Chuck Fletching, and I said it in our chat last night. I don't know why Twitterrell is...

...here. He's not gonna last. He's not gonna last, he's gonna he's gonna rub stand it, he's gonna well, he's not gonna understand it, but I think he's gonna Rub this organization wrong and they're gonna want him going. Do you think that he was sold at bill band goods like Fletcher Gone Big? Oh, yeah, we're going after John we're going man, no, we have some superstar because because even getting him, I can't believe we're still talking about what was. What was? What was Johnny? In all seriousness, how many more wins was Johnny Hockey gonna get you? Seven? It's just about the wins. Seven. You can develop your gun players. Yeah, and it's gonna put more fannies in the seats, but it's not gonna get you more wins. And my point goes to Twittorella. Wouldn't be in on that. He wouldn't care about getting johnny hockey because it's not going to get him that more, anymore wins. Why the hell did he leave the piano, cushy job to take this trash. Maybe he was. Maybe he was sending, sending picks around like Sean Salisbury, and he got out picked up the mighty ducks. That's what this team is. You say, Carter hearts good. He looks like Goldberg before he became good. Yeah, but he's got garbage in front of him and he's just like the ducks team. I'm done. Don't get to get you a value. Pat. Dude, Pat, I'm sorry, I know you love the flyers, but they're ass. I do agree. I do agree, pat to say it's gonna be fun to watch towards meltdown. I am looking forward to that. That's the one thing he'll bring it. That'll be so, it'll be the the identity of this team will be gritty and Tortorella, that's gonna be the identity to put gritty out on the line. Hey, might, they might. What is that? Is that you? And what did you say? What I s Guy, stop trash. Yeah, we can hear it, what I sent you. If you want to, if you want to contribute to the show, play what he said on the microphone. If you want to toss. Yeah, what I was posing to you guys. If if the sports gods came down from heaven and said to you, I give you the flyers. Or who was the other team? Was it the jets? Oh yeah, said COMS, the commanders. Who would you who would you rather be the owner of right now? NFL Cells, and I'm trading Carson Wentz. Yeah, the commanders, because is a money maker. All right, if the flyers or a W NBA team? Flyers, W N B A is not a moneymaker into nobody watches flyers or flyers or a far I'm not trying to come across that way, but nobody watches. That's not true. I watched the New York. Very few watch. How about that? All right, better, what's up? What's your next? Flyers or a hipster bar and fish town? Oh, I might go for the there's more action going on in the bar than there is. He would work there. You have the beard. You know he'd fit right in. Alright, we're done with hockey? Yes, get to the next notey next year on this podcast. No, we'll never be done with hockey. Well, we're gonna have a special hockey corresponding pat sweet's gonna be here. Special hockey corresponding. Alright, well, you're corresponding. I hope you just have your line ready. The fire stink next week. The flyers really stink him in tones should get on. Yeah, yeah, but they'll pay them both the same. We'll double their rates. I'm tell you right now, and this is in all seriousness, I'm not being the smartest. Let's say this. I hope that the flyers are really good for people like Pat Sweeney who are die hard flyers, fans, like die hard flyers, fans that want to see him well. There's people I know that like. I really want to see him do well and I wouldn't like nothing more than to be completely wrong that they are playoff team next year. I just don't see it. Look, I think everybody in this room agrees that whenever a team in this city is doing well and there's playoffs, it's exciting. Every playoff from except forty and I can't get it. I'm sorry, I can't get it. I mean the eagles. The Eagles will, were always and always will be my first team. Okay, and I get that from my dad and my brother, but the flyers were the first championship that I remember when the sixers won in sixty seven. I was three years old, so I don't remember that, but the flyers were the first championship that I I vividly remember in my mind's eye most of what happened. I wasn't at the parade, but I remember watching it. I remember your shoulder here. Let Yeah, I remember people going crazy...

...the Sunday that they won, going out in the street, climate a busses, rock and busses back and forth. I remember all that and that just captivated me as a kid. Do you know? It happened two times in a row and I would love, for love for that to happen again. My thing is and everybody but Andrew, because Andrew, you were crying just well, he wasn't even a twink. No, no, you know what I hope the free agency was gonna be like about fourteen years ago when the flyers were really bad and then they went out and signed Danny brier right and they didn't. It didn't make a huge difference that first year, but they gave an eight year deal and the team got better. That's what I was hoping. They would go in a free agency, they would dump some contracts, like they went free air back in the day they weren't as good, but then they got like a headline player, and I think goodreau would have been that headline player. Do I think you droau makes them a Andy Cup contender? Absolutely not. Does good drow make them fun to watch? And does good drowe make me think the owners give a shit about winning, because I sure as hell don't care when you sign whatever doloresy and freaking Braun for the third time? That's my problem with the flyers. No show, no, no, no, no, like. There's no effort into this team. That's why you, I'm so glad you have the Philly like. Look the phillies again. I'll showing them later because they're on my list to but the sixers and the eagles. So one thing I can say about all three teams this offseason, regardless if they get it right, all are trying. The flyers are not, and that's the most disheartening because they're owned by comcast, who doesn't give two crafts shout what they sell a team that Josh Harris, sell a team to somebody they're they're not going to sound, I mean sell the team until they stop. They break even money. They gotta break you don't show up yea, and I think that's happening. It's not happening as much as it could. It was like happening. They don't sell out and they still have like five dozen people showing up. Five thousand, four thousand. I wanted to go down to like eight or six. They still have about probably fifteen showing Saturday night. They're pre packed for what but the power, tasty cakes, whatever. What the how are people doing down there going to that thing in the gritty? I think we get it. If it's that cheap. We go down there, we get a suite, we get a box, we get a box with down the Arrow boot Ahole time. That's all we do. We'll all gets and the YEA a couple of years yeah, Joe years ago, Joe White's brother, when the sixers were tanking year after year, Joe White's brother Tom but two rows of seats, I think, just because I think it was twelve dollars to buy two rows of seats and he went down and bought two. It just he brought a couple of friends or whatever along, I think. I think he was still coaching at the time. Brought some players that he was coaching down and just hung out in the two roads and he got two rows of seats for twelve dollars. All right, all right, he do you want to rip now? You Eagles or Phillies team? You want to whatever? I'm not right now. All right, but we'll move on to the eagles. There's there's been a little bit of eagles news this week, Um, and, and we talked about it a bit before coming on the show, M v P odd they're out there. There's a lot of hype around Jalen. A lot of a lot of football minds love him. He's gonna have a great season. You know, he's he's one of the top, although I did see every reporter earlier that he's not one of the top twenty under twenty five. I thought that was a bit of a disservice to him. Um, but there was this report that came out of nowhere. It was o t s, back in April, March, Jalen, but he said did say city through three picks? Was it three picks in four sacks or something silly like that? Yeah, something like that. Yeah, and three. I think it was three or four sacks. Three. No, I thought it was four. Three picks, four sacks and three in ten places, four sacks and like seven incompletion or something. It's that I don't care. I frankly, I don't care what happens in May either. I think he's just full of ship. They said that. But yeah, but Derek, but that's where. So he got it from somebody, because there are people that were at the o t s that said that didn't happen. Like when a B and I were growing back, there are people that were at that practice media that said that didn't happen. And there there his teammates, which you expect...

...the teammates to do. But I was surprised that the gun ran with the story because he's good, he's got his connections with the team and I would think a guy like Kim he checks with somebody, he calls one of his buddies that are actually down there and still connected to hey, did you see this? I feel like he didn't do that this time. He just ran with the story. Is he just looking for clicks? Maybe? I mean he's got that new podcast and he's not working for any of the stations now, so he's trying to and he's looking to build an audience. Maybe, but I can't see the gun going that route. He's too he's too reputable, he's too legit Um. I don't know what to believe. But what I don't want to believe is Derek Gun doing that, you know, for clicks and trying to build trying to build an audience and information and he just ran with it because, but don't you think he, like Jim said, he would have double checked? But you gotta double source something like that. But let me ask you this. If it was, if it was two months ago, Elliot Truer Parks is there every day. You're telling me, Elliot tror parks, wouldn't he? He freaking scripts what hurts, don't you're telling me nobody that was at that practice would have said, oh, he was horrible. Somebody else that would have been there would have said the same thing. But maybe those are the experienced be reporters that know this means nothing. So there's there's but if he again, if he's not there and he's getting it from a second source of and he should have called the esps and McClean. If McClean, the guys that you trust a little bit more, not that Elliott sure parks is the most trustworthy. But Um, yeah, it's just it's strange that those reports are coming out. Now we're going to get slamm from W I P now, okay, out the best show ever show. That's that's a fanatic. So it's a fanatic. Um. But he we can all agree that hurts is under the microscope this year. Right. I feel like every and it's probably because of who I follow on twitter, but I feel like every fourth or fifth tweet it's something about hurts comparing to this quarterback, comparing him to that quarterback, his stats, what he's done wrong, what he's done right. He's definitely under a microscope this year and he should be as he should be, should be. I mean, listen, there's a lot worse quarterbacks you could have than Jalen hurts. I know, are you know special guest hurts hater? A B wouldn't agree, but there's a lot worse quarterbacks in this league that you get. I know he thinks his arm and nothing, but you can't tell me tell it makes everyone around you better. And the thing that I want people to continue to remember is that Tavonte Smith was a rookie last year and Jalen Reagor is hot garbage. Those were his two number ones last year. Like everybody's, like Davante Smith, heisman, great becoming in the League. There's a growing period of learning. A J Brown got her. You know the lines. Great. I want to say it's great. It's it's good. Is the best life is the old yeah, but it's not. It's not. That still top match. It's not that. Not that. Peters is gone. Kelsey, Kelsey's the oldest one on line. We got my a lot of his twenties. Six Lane Johnson thirty. Is He is? He got old. I think he came here with a lot of he's like twenty three. Maybe it. I thought he was a little older, but anyway, like and that's and the other thing that John Richie made a good point yesterday that, like other people don't realize is that, like the running game was so great last year because of hers. You know what I mean, like his ability to to know when to either hold onto the ball or to give it off to the running back like he's that. That's something that, like, people overlook. is his arm got to get better? Yeah, it does. It doesn't need to get better it it needs to get better the offense. They need to build the offense around him better too, which I think that's that's part of Syriani's learning curve. Right. A J Brown is to me, a j brown is the key piece to this season, because we know Jalen did not look across the middle of the field. That's where a j brown is going to earn his money. So that's the weapon that he needed. He needs to get comfortable with that and we were looking at the M v P odds. He's in the top ten. He's plus two thousand. But you know, among quarterbacks he's UH. He's set up for success and improvement. But then now the thing is that we're going to run into now is if he has a good jeer, you're gonna be in that same situation...

...of Baltimore's. And now you paying them. What do you do? Are you going to pay him thirty five to forty million, because that's going right for a quarterback. What are you gonna do? You gotta look at the free agent quarterbacks and get one of them, or are you gonna like, which I don't agree with, like a B and them is saying like, oh well, you have like a closet full of picks and then and the draft somebody. But here's the thing. Drafting somebody takes you back. Yeah, and I know the college football season hasn't even started, but teams built now to win. Brace Young, he doesn't look like he has a NFL body and now you shouldn't take his hurts his he's looking bigger now, but I don't think brace young's got a football body. Now Order C J quarterbacks. Just look at this. Yeah, I have no faith, put any faith in the heart, but that's what I'm saying. Like, so, like, I don't know. And then if you're I know that you guys might not agree with this, but if a j brown came here, because I think one of the reasons why a J Brown did want to come here as hurts, they pull the pull the way and pull the rug under him next year like it hurts his out. Just slap in the face. Brown's gonna be pissed, but he's got paid, especially if it's to go get somebody in the first round. These guys want to win now. Yeah, I hear you want to now, but at that point, what are you gonna do? You signed a four year contract. He might feel but hurt for for a little bit a little bit. But but do you agree? The paycheck? The paycheck plus the chance to win a ring will quickly smooth that. But a draft pick does not. Like if you go and get a stroud are you go and get the quarterback. But I see what he's saying. What does that do? Your BA is setting back yourself. You have to your organization and you have to get you have to you learn that. You have to reset the organization this year. Yeah, with everybody. They got traded. Russell Wilson, right, like you go all in with somebody that's proven, but you go and draft C J strouder. You draft a kid from Baman two or three years ago. Again, yeah, and your two or three years old. We had Wilson and were talking Super Bowl. Oh yeah, they probably can't afford an you say. We said with or without a J Brown. You think they still get him with? I don't think they need it. Russell Wilson either, but if he was here or not, it's Wilson here. Yeah, I mean you and you with that offense on line. Wilson's never had an offense on what do you think about Watson? Would you would have took him? I would have won to absolutely I can't. Yeah, I couldn't, not with all that baggage, not, not with everything that's going on. I couldn't. I couldn't root for him. I wouldn't be able to root for who else was available, like Rogers. Yeah, I don't think he was really available. I don't think he was. He just wanted the money and he got it. Baker, Baker, I mean there's I mean their names here. They're talking super bowl. You know what think? Yes, you look, look at what he's done. I think he's got a seventy percent winning rate. He's not a horrible he's got a super bowl. Yeah, he was two UNFC championship games. No one super bowl, the two super bowls. I actually think Baker the chiefs neighbor in Miami, that covid year, that offensive the year before Covid quarterback. It was one super bowl in the NFC championship game. They lost to uh, to the rams, to the ring. Yeah, that's right. I mean you could have traded for Stafford last year. Wasn't he on the UH seventeen when they lost the Eagles Patriots team? Um, I'm still I think he was back off the Brady that he's been to a super bowl with Brady. Yeah, it might have been that year, as he didn't play as a starter. He's been the one. Yeah, as a starter, but he's been there too. If we're throwing this out right now, like we're talking about all these scenarios, right, and it's early, right, it's July, but I want you to think about this. If I let's take the time share and go year ahead right now, is Jalen hurts going to be the starter beyond this year, right now, if I go into season right? No, yeah, I'm sorry, going into I said to you right now, next year at this time, you see your quarterback, you're saying. I'm saying yes, yes, what they I would most likely say yes, but not not entirely slide. Look what they did. Look what they did. I have to I have to see a certain amount of him, because a baby step forward from him is he going to do it for me? I have to see. I have to see what stay. Yes, I need to see big step forwards from this guy...

...where he's making significant improvement with reading a defense, going through his progressions, getting the ball downfield, being accurate and not in pocket presence and awareness and not being so quick to Um, scramble and and and go to run, try and get give what. Take What the defense gives you. If they give you to run it back in the flat, throw with Tom if they give you a guy crossing the middle ten yards downfield, give it to get a toll. You don't have to take a thirty yard pass downfield every time. I want to see those types of improvements from this guy before I'm sold on. Baby steps isn't going to cut it. I need significant improvement out is because, like I said earlier, the team is set up to win now on both sides of the ball. It's the coaching staff has got a lot of pressure on them too. They gotta step up and meet these if you knew this new new high standard that Howie Roseman gave them on both sides of the ball through the Druid, you look at it. Jimmy J he's a good quarterback, but his coaching stats also really good. His head him with Syria, I don't think he's as good as he is. He's got he's got better weapon he's prior to a j brown coming here, I'd say San Fran he had some better weapons than we had. DEEBOT kittle you. I mean the only thing I might give us the edgines. They're running back, because San Fran was running through different running backs every other week, it seems like. If I have to answer right now, yes, um again, like you said, way too early. Here. Here's another way too early. Is Is it playoffs or bust? Like there's people saying, I think we even said it again, way too early, that the eagles should win the east if they don't make the playoffs season last year. I know they did. They stuck in to them. Okay, okay, when you look at everything happened this off season, lost the fact if they made the playoffs last they have to win, and the defense. They have to make the playoffs. They made they should win to the east and they have to get a playoff win. They Bradbury, Braddy, they made deem, they made big improvemance on both sides of the ball. Dream Team. Remember that, just remember. That's why I'm asking somebody's somebody's gotta play Devil's advocate here. You gotta keep everybody out on us. We can't be homer's but you are gonna be surprised about this time next year. Miles Sanders is still starting dude. Two Eagles insiders said that they're going to their working on getting him on like a cheaper deal, because I think the way the running backs are going in this league, I mean wouldn't surprise me, because I don't think he's gonna get paid a lot of money by anybody. And if he has a good season, is that a bad thing? No, I'm saying it's a good thing. I don't think it's bad. I'm not. I'm saying because a lot of us have said miles sanders is probably gone, like they don't think I thought he'd be gone, but if he has a decent season, I just he's just so unpredictable. You'll know. One of the thing, and the only thing I don't like your about a j brown is you never know what injury is gonna have. One or two injuries with the injury labels. He played a full season one his rookie season, right. It was the only season. Yeah, I thought. I thought he looked at this and he missed a couple of games. He looked he lost a half the season, right, and then he played about the total of in the most I think he's played was a half a season. Now he's get the hell out of here. He's missed a couple of games here and there. I don't think he's I think he was smoking tonight. What are you smoking? So if, just staying on this topic, you made it clear that you think they need to get the playoffs. He's played sixteen games with two thousand nineteen. Fourteen Games in two thousand. UH, the year after he's he missed a couple of I thought he missed a half season, but he's missed games every season other than one. Yeah, so he's missed two games one year and three games five even he was still on his rookie deal, I guess he was. Yeah, Sixteen Games, UH, fourteen games and thirteen games, three games. So say, say they don't make the playoffs because it's some freak reason, injuries on the defensive side of the ball or something like that, Jayden still has a good season does that, then they probably do bring him back. It depends. It really depends with like what I don't know, like is he is he tied to? Like if you're getting multiple injuries like he did on the defensive line and the defense stocks and the offense isn't the problem, then yeah, probably, but there's a lot of people out there to just say, well, we need to see improvement from him, but my thing is if he improves, the team should win. If he's improving and the team's not winning, that's proud and that would go back with coaching. I think with all these question and and and Uh...

...uh, with all these questions on hurts, I think as much, maybe even a little bit more. There are question marks on Gannon and Siriano. If they they both have to step up because they've both been handed on both sides of the ball. They've both have been handed a team ready and set up to win. Now I agree hold. I'm looking at the team futures here real quick. First, many go ahead talks amongst yourselves. Well, Pat, PAT's, Pat Sweeney's asking a Siriano a good coach and can he be a championship coach? I'm not sold on a championship coach yet. I think it's a little too early. I think he can be a good coach because he showed the ability to adjust last year from trying to fit it round peg into a square hole into, you know, from the passing game adjusting to the running game and getting those that string of wins together that that got them into the playoffs. He needs to be able to make those adjustments on the fly like he did last year, uh, you know, and and pick up on what's working on on h maybe even from a week to week basis, not just a season long basis, but from a week to week basis, going with the hot hand. What's working? What can we what think? What do we think will work this year after or this week after look at the tape of this team. He's really really got to step up and and uh, perform better than he did last year. But I like the way he adjusted from the passing game to the running game and got that string of wins and got in. I think he needs to play more in your face on the outside. He's got the players to do it and, and that's what I was gonna say. He's got the players to do it. He's got to bring them up. You can bump, you know, up to five yards. I say bump up to five yards. Let him go at it. And you know, a lot of pass routes in the NFL are all about timing, the receiver being in a certain spot at a certain time. And if you if you upset that timing. Then you throw off the route. That gives the a blitzer or gives the line that extra split second to get to the quarterback and just blow up the whole play. Uh, if you can disrupt that timing on the outside. So I think he needs, and he's got the players to do what I think he needs to, to get up in the receiver's faces, don't peel back and, God please, don't play that picket defense and don't line up ten yards off the ball when it's third and seven. You know, get up in their face and and don't give him that cushion. UH, he's I'm more worried about him than I that I am CIANA. I think Gannon's got more to prove, because he needs to with the weapons he's got. Now he's got more to prove. I talk along. It's nine and a half st nine and a half is the line on draft kings. That draft kings. It may be different on different books, but draft kings has nine and a half. Is there anything else we want to cover on the eagles? Now we can jump to the phillies. Don't jump to the phillies all star game. What did he call about? Let's rip the Covid, Phillies, Joe. So I'm not, I'm not even like, I'm not going there because I think every comment has got smitty's just no, I mean like he did. There's people like reacting about what jt said about like the thousand ain't nothing. I mean, dude, I don't know about you, but I ain't sniffing it. I'm not. I'm not either. But again, like this is, this is, this is what we've created in our society to by paying these guys a lot of money. So when he's basically looking at which you know we're not looking at, it's like it's basically a day of pay, which is what we would lose. But you know, obviously how he said it, but I don't care. But here's my thing about the about the shot, like they don't want to get it whatever, I'm not gonna like, you know what I mean. And they're all from down south, or read between the lines of the guys that south. But how about but how about the royals, though? Isn't it the royals? They got like eleven guys that can't go. They are from down south. Booms from down south. No's from down south, and he chose from down south. Okay, that's three out of five. No, the Phil the ones that didn't get the shot. On the Phillies, all the political pliefs. That was absolutely gross. Without his social mattia around Smithie. What all this spit? You just and you were facing me, said it was. It's the royals.

Ten players couldn't go up there for another series. First of all, I think it's bullshit that like their winning the royal. I knew you should have put money on that right and I put it. I posted it, like give me the dog. I just feel like it's ridiculous. Like everywhere else you can go, but like, yeah, I feel like, I feel like everybody's over at this point. It's just like you didn't get a shot. All right, yeah, but my problem with the phillies. His is like well, I got multiple but like they're they're they're making me regret when I said they're a contender, because, like they were all two games. St Louis Do the right thing. Then they just completely craped in bed. And then the problem if they're not getting production other than your name, Schwarbert Boom, has actually been producing off. No, he hasn't. Over, over St over the last couple of games against St Louis like three over and over Toronto. All Right, I'LL GIVE YOU TORONTO, but shober ain't the problem. The DAGGERVILLE board. CASTELATTOS hasn't done a damn thing all season. Well, take, take the entire allotment of center fielders and just catch the ball after every single one of them and all of them combined. If you were to take the best aspect of each one, you're still not going to have a solid center field ready for this. Take because this is gonna get a DJ on. He would listen. Derk hole is not. He's not. He just said veeling too. I don't want to. Why does it? whatody say that the defense, and he's got some timely. Doniak is horrible. He needs to get back down the trail. He's not up. He's not up. He's the other one. He's not. He's not a major when he had to all ye. WHO's the other one? That's song. There's what the big problem is is that they're pitching like EFN. F Him. He's always hurt. Yea, WHO's not? There's another one, though, thinking. What's his name? Kyle Gibson? One out of five s gibbons, he's good. Yeah, give one out of five starts. You get a good start from him. Rach Farres, he's hurt exactly. He got lit up, but I'll give him a past AARINOA, you're having a good year, but when you need to win, you get no runs. You get no runs in the playoffs. It depends. Two weeks ago, two weeks ago, yes, today, probably need I'm gonna be honest. It depends how quick harper gets back and his castiandos turning around the second half. It Harper's out to late August and Costianos does not hit or Raymond too doesn't step up. They make what does nick have to do? Like somebody need to go over to the House and stage that else tod they just gotta say like look, Nick will rent you a nice condo in the city, just get out of Ben Simmonds House. Yeah, is that really the issue? He's got the band or of Ben Simmons hanging over him. Probably, I mean, yeah, maybe he's. What is it? He's got eight, like eight home runs and like footy five. is He even half guy that you were supposed to count on if Harper went down? Yes, Schuber has been at a very pleasant surprise. Like he thought he would be good. But the board says it, he's only two behind the lead. Aaron judge has thirty home run. Serbssenty eight. He sucks, but how much were you expecting at a d I mean when we paid him fourteen million dollars? I'm expecting the home run. You know, I got a freaking home run this year. Look at TV's numbers. Dude, he said thirty homemons a couple of times in his career. Yeah, but he's not that d d from the Yankees anywhere. He's okay. Well, Garret stubs in, this team's got whole. And Do you trade? Do you trade hoskins? I don't know. Yes, I've been saying it since the season started. Starting. My theory, Trade Hoskins, put Ray Mutto at first and bring up at hoppy. There's your catcher. Stubbs Se sub catching. I think the real deal. He's tough. I think this team doesn't bring those young guys up. You know they don't do that, do you? All Right, let me ask how many of you guys believe in Derk Hall? He's a nice story, but fastball up top. Who was the kid with it with the hat last year, not Jankowski, not joe dirt. There was the other kid. His first hit was a home run and he's a local kid. Yeah, the Philly that's what I'm saying. The phillies get every year one of these guys shows up on the phillies. We get all geeked up because he's got a couple of hits, because the pictures don't know how to pitch. Still he gets lucky. Yeah, Brad Miller, once they get some footage on them and study, studied a video, is the...

...future. First base. He has eight. Nick has eight home runs and footy six. Horrible, he's got forty six. I thought he didn't even have that many. That's why I was asking him. horribles. He's he's been. He's been a disappointment. Did he did he come from the American League? It's not like he's facing pitching he hasn't seen before. No, I don't know what happened. Yeah, I know. He's he's all over the place. I don't think he has an idea of what he wants to do when he goes up there. He's, you know, he has a flash here and there where he's had you know, two or three hits a game, but then he falls back into his ruts again and it's like, what's going on with the shot? You Watch second half, he become that's fine, he has to. He has to pick it up the second half, second half, and what did the second half team is when I hear on air people and callers calling into the radio shows and saying, oh, he's you know, historically he's a very good hitter. Just give him time. It's going to come around. We're in the middle of July. I'm tired of waiting for him to come around. He needs to come around tomorrow about this. Are you guys tired of the bullpen teams every week? Yeah, don't get me started on what happened to the fifth starter in Major League Baseball. What the hell happened a start who starts drive meeting up a freaking wall. Literally. Let me tell you something. The phillies bullpen insane, except for familiar in my lifetime. I think pictures, there was only four in the starting rotation, not five. In my lifetime, sad meant starters were going every four days, not every five. Of Us. Three, no, no, I don't think it's everging. Three and alright, so there's only two. Back in his day, when he first started, Satchel pitched every day, although, although during the stretch run of the sixty four season it was a two main rotation with Kirch Simmons. And was sitting on my toilet looking at the Daily News. Yeah, I was still in diapers and I didn't have to worry about sitting on the toilet. It was the outhouse. They didn't have. They didn't have plumbing back where was I? Um, so your fifth starting? They only pitched a four four days. Then they went to a fifth starter. Now they evolved into this Goddamn freaking bullpen. Start. The long is the long stretcher, whatever it dud. Where is the fifth starter? It's not that, it's that they're hurt. Listen. No, no, no, no, this ship started before they started getting hurt. Deeck, let him explain. or Noah, wheeler, wheeler should be double Suarez, gibbons, Gibby and fhm can't stay healthy. Give you what about? Give you he's an any eater. Instead of having a bullpen. So why can't you bring up your best picture from triple a and have them start? They don't have any pictures, Christopher Sanchez. Well, would you rather the fifth, the number one starter, triple a or a freaking you know, two winnings here, two wings there? That's what I'm telling you. Christopher Sanchez is their number one triple a picture. Well, then bring him up for a starter. Billy falter too. They both suck. He's horrible. That's all he does is falter. Joe White says it. Afflet is far from returning to I know that's what stark said. He said don't get excited a Philly fans. So it's gonna be another bullpen game in Miami. Now we have to give you tomorrow. So question should we do it? Give you tomorrow. Okay. Then you have Suarez. Question. Question came through in our group chat earlier in the week, is that Thompson deserved an extension right now. Do you think still? Yeah, if they get the wild card, definitely, but if you think completely, the weekend dug out. That's why I have Dombrowski is the third best GM. You want to know why? First of all, he's never made the playoffs. I don't care. He's only been here two years. Second of all, if you look at his moves, Dombrowski's moves. What are the best ones? All right, Brad hand, this year, all right, I'll give you that. Tell me how good, uh, tell me how good the starters were last year that he signed. Tell me how good familiar is at five million dollars. Tell me how great dd is a fourteen million dollars. But did he get the extension last year when Dombrowski came last year? Okay, I thought he was still on the original contract. One year...

...deal. In the game. I won with a two year deal. But look at the news that he's made. He brought that career. What has he done? All Right, I'll give you Schwarber, castianers. All Right, I won't even give you Castianos at this point. Like what what Dombrowski is known for? Is it the dead bone? He's a put up and get something. That's are we buyers or sellers? Sellers, no, shut out the buyers. What is the deadline? Listen, they should be if they sweep, if they sweep the Marlins, I'm back on, but I'm gonna tell you right now I got a bad feeling that they're gonna lose two out of three in miamie. Let me tell you they gave it. Yeah, they stayed at first it should be and wheeler this weekend. Then he says, right now it is Gibson, t PA and Nola. Right, what happened to wheeler last night? So it gives gibby undecided. So it's gonna be freaking Christopher, says, billy falter. And then, and then for on the side, it is their ace, Tryo Rodgers. Yeah, so they'll throw out the stinker again. Yeah, they're they're going against their best picture for the stinker out. Then just give up that game. Game. I will, I will continue to root for and watch the phillies this season, but I'm not I am not jumping back on the bandwagon until twice, twice, back off again. What you're you're back off again. He's been out. I just said, I will continue to watch and sport, but but I'm not going to be saying, oh, they're going to meet. I'm not going to announce they're making the play we just stayed at that. Yeah, I'm not going to say they're going to make the playoffs. I'm not convinced. I'm not convinced they're making the playoffs. Are you, like I said, with the way they started this season, I didn't think they had a shot. The fact that they dug out is impressive. That is you're getting more injury. He's now to your starting pitching now impressive. When you get the dodgers in the well, yeah, you're gonna get crushed, but I mean if they can, if they could, pull themselves out of from where they were, they need a starter, they need a center fielder, they need a lot they need they need bryce to be back soon and healthy. Anything on that? Have you heard about Bryce? No, Cigar. I mean every time you look at the like the thing, it's like he's on a tip. He's on like the longest ten day I ow you've ever seen. Hey, look, I'll take a guy like cigar or back just because it's better than throwing out these minor leaguers. It just came up to fill in the spot for the night. That's why you signed Ray Muco, hoskins and freaking well, Schwarber's doing it, but second hand, Fray Muto, Hoskins, Schwarber, Castianos, boom, they all need to step up here. Harper comes back, do you put castiandoms into the h just maybe to make the game easier for him and he does not have to think about going out. And Yeah, I thought twitter was at it. Wasn't he taking yeah, put him in full time until he figures out his swing. Don't even don't even worry about getting out on the out of the field. Yeah, he can't throw. I don't know. I don't know. All Star game is this week, this weekend, or what is that? Tuesday? Today's Today's the fourteen. Today it's the night before. Damn Shwarby. That's the other thing. Anybody else concerned about that? Member screws up there. Yeah, I was talking to the one village game we went to when we um when we were leaving, I was talking to Dj about that and I mentioned to him about the home run Derby screwing up your swing, and he's like now, I don't believe that. That's a bunch of bullshow. I said, I don't know, it's happened in the past, but I mean, look at the lions a second and that's exactly who he mentioned. Didn't hurt Alonso have that creative second half. He's still hit, though. Yeah, he's still a hit and he still had home runs, but he didn't have I don't think he had as great of a seconds in the first half. Yeah, it's screwed up. Yeah, it really wrecked him. I don't know. It doesn't wreck everybody. It does. Never bothered Ken Griffin. No, yes, he did. He in the home run D yeah. Yeah, I'm trying to see hit like three runs. No, Schwerber is a professional hitter. I'm not as concerned, but I don't really care if he win't it. I mean it's whatever. It's nice. You know, it doesn't it doesn't do much. He gets a nice little trophy to put on a shelf. If we don't make the postseason, though, I'm starting. Dombrowski is going, you know, down to Fletcher...

...churge. He's that's kind see, I got Mori too. It's kind of hard. Number One. Do you agree right now? How he's the best GM by far in the city? It's not. After what he did, how can you are and then two more right now? You can't argue after what the three, four, union five Philadelphi Stars GM how he is number one right now. As much of a fan album. Look, if you're if you're ranking the GM. Yes, it's hard to say he's not number one. Yeah, I'm not a big Holley Fan. I think number one right now. I think he really killed it over this beast office. You know my feelings on Mori and Dombrowski. Fletch, fletch. Yeah, he got. I got no point. He doesn't have a whole lot of competition right now. All right, I hope so. I'M gonna get my sons there. Will there be a parade on broad street for them, or to one? It's probably too crowded down there. You can't have right. That's the hell. Is Bad. What's that road? Yeah, I guess. Yeah, they're they're literally about the same size. We won't have to worry about flat is not gonna like that. All right, I think we hit on pretty much everything running over here. Just want to say to Zach Wilson stay away from my wife. Um. Yeah, well, we we got. We got a lot of it tonight. Again, it's not not a whole lot of exciting things going on, with plenty to talk about. Always, your dad who said that? He also he also made a comment on another thread that the flyers would win a championship before the sixers. This has been an ongoing debate for many, many, many many years and I took the field one year with my buddy and I had the eagles versus the field. He was very much on this was AI era. You very much thought that the sixers and I that's that was the risk I was taken and said, yeah, sixers are close, but I'm sticking with my eagles and I won that bet. But I don't know, I think that you're you're on the wrong side there that Philly. The flyers have a lot of work to do. sixers are a piece or two and maybe a coach away from getting it done. Your chain on that? No, no, I think he believes it really yeah, Mr Marcus, I mean you can't. You know he's stick headed. I tried to steer him clear and Claire, and you know, sometimes you just can't get through these old heads that one. Yeah, all right, folks, thanks for hanging out with us. You're just trashing all the I just think it's funny. I think it's funny if you're on a major you're on a major radio network. Yeah, exactly, exactly. If you're a podcast, it's fine, exactly.
