What's going on? Football fans, welcome to draft night air and the Fop Lodge Seven Sea Lounge. Thanks for joining US wildfire sports draft night. You are now listening live to the santaboud first podcast from Jim Marcus. Round the table. Here we got that. We got the faces on the good side looking out at the crowd. Are Myself, and and to my right we have the man of the cloth, the man with a collar, Father Cabart, father mark of are. Thank for joining US tonight. Great to be here. No, carmine, no carmine, father carmine. I wanted to give it over. Have our own. WHOA father car I was just just expecting it at this okay, okay, let's go with good. Good, you recognize it. In front of him we have the magnificent Duck Martin. Well, everybody but to be here, elder statesman, the elder states resting the Grizzled v and to his right we got the young Martin, Dj Martin. What's going on? He's really going to teach that a finger till? Hey, yes, I would. It comes to college football. Yes, I think he's got too many nicknames. You know, it's really feeding into that ego yeah, I don't get into his head. Around the hell, call me magnificent. said. Yeah, we came up with his official nickname at the last podcasts, Dj College. So ill Jay College. I like it all right. Well then, we're going to be leaning heavy on you. Oh, this is draft night, Dj College. You should know all these guys. You should help us out. All right. So here we are, the night of the draft. I'm a draft peek. I love this night. I don't follow the college as closely as I should. I know some names, but everybody's got a mock. I put my mop out...

...there. I'm over. What are we all pick eight. I'm over eight so far. Sure, so I'm doing real well. Hey, the experts ain't doing much better. So right, you're in select company. So the first thing we are definitely going to talk egos. We are definitely going to t all world champion Philadelphia Eagles. But first, how about those Cleveland Browns? Right? Yeah, they can't get out of their own way. Yeah, the browns gotta be browns. They they always seem to, like you said, they kick it out of their own way. They're trying to out smart, out think everybody. It's I don't know if like what it would have when it when a couple gets married and the woman thinks she's going to be able to change the man to her we going there the Cleveland, the Cleveland Browns, think they're going to be able to change their ways and they just they can't. They just they screwed up somehow every time. When they picked the first pick, Baker Mayfield, ever, you like what really you know you could have done better than that. And then they come up with number four, densil Ward, with the quarterback, and everybody scratching their heads again. So they just they just seemed to do it every year. Baker thoughts Father Korma. I look at Baker Mayfield and he's none of these quarterbacks are really outstanding to me. Right there's they all have a deficiency. Baker's too small, he's got the off the field issues and if you're Cleveland, he's Johnny Manzel to Pot O. I maybe a little more skilled than Johnny, yes, but he's Johnny Man's l two point. Yeah, he doesn't have quite the baggage off the field either as he did, but he's up there. I agree. So then you got the next quarterback. You might all right, Sam Darnald. You know the kids. He's very accurate, but they said he's got some issues learning the game. He didn't impress teams...

...when he was at the White Board, so maybe that dropped him a little bit. Josh Allen, big arm, not accurate. Played for Wyoming. You know, never never was a winner in high school. Went to junior college because he couldn't get it. was in a division one team and then rose in. Here comes another pick. This is Mike mcclenche right here, Mike mcglinchey, lunch. You, Yo, look you, it's called out of connection. That is a great human being that just got drafted. That's the kind of guy that needs to be on Cleveland to kind of turn them around. Yeah, fantastic kid. Pen Charter, Warrington resident. Excellent Kid. Excellent kid this is. He's the type of person you build your franchise around. said, and he plays an important spot to it's got a good pedigree. Comes from that Matt Ryan Family. Yeah, he's ready. I thought they were going to go wide receiver. They don't really have a big wide receiver out there yet. Maybe I thought they were going to take Calvin Ridley, but this is how you build. Yeah, this is what it doesn't understand. They want the shortcut to relevancy. This is how you get to relevancy. They building the smart way, taking the longer prose. You gotta go. A team is built from the inside out. They got you gotta go. you start with the lines. Work your way out to the skill positions. This might be the first time Notre Dames said to offensive lineman in the first round. Could be in the first make it first, first ten picks. Yeah, yeah, so they's not a receiver, basically, yeah, defensive tackle. So they need you. Look at that pick. They just spent how much money on Jimmy Garoppolo, ackler. So they yeah, you should. You prettyet. I gotta protect the drop, but yeah, and now you're going to have Baker Mayfield running around without any protection. This is how you killed quarterbacks immediately. Yeah, if the you. Yeah,...

...yeah, they that. I think they need help all over the map. And you say that that Eli might be there another two to five years. I don't he see him. I don't see I don't see him being productive after another couple years. He got thirty seven, remax. I think he's thirty seven. Think of it this way. The say Quan Berkeley now help them win a super bowl? No, he doesn't. A franchise quarterback in two to three years might, and they blew that chance. Right, right, yeah, they, they, they need again. They you know, they need to build it from the inside out and they got to get that quarterback to build a franchise around. And you got to remember the shelf life of a running back is five, six years. If that productive years, you're you're talking seven or eight tops, at most seven or eight. They're the really elite ones. Get ten or so. There's another one, Josh. I got that bit right. It was just a pick earlier. All right. So there you got. The cardinals are worried they're losing out in the quarterback they need a quarterback. They take Josh Rose and just to just to finish my porn on the giants, but by the time Eli winds down his career, they're going to of course they're going to need another quarterback. By the time that quarterback comes in, say Quin could possibly be winding down his career. Yeah, at least the productive side of his career, exactly. So it's not going to Mesh. So back to your point. It's good for the eagles. That's a in the eyes of the Eagles fans, that's a good pick because that the pants are never going to overlap it in the productive years. All those two positions. Now I will say this.

The pick will make sense because I do think they're going to overhaul the team actually, probably starting maybe a little after the draft and going in a next year. So I don't even think there they pick Berkeley to compete next year. I think they're just trying to stock up on good players. I think there's going to be a lot of turnover. I don't think Beckham as a part of the future at all. I think they're going to be a lot of Turner. There's going to be a lot of turners and they figure you might as well just get at least one stun on the team. Has it now. I don't think they picked them. They can know now we're right back in this next year. I really don't see that. So we'll say. But he's a good he'll be a good guy for the locker room, which is what they need. That locker room is a disgrace right now. Yeah, yeah, they'll also, at the back of my head, which I hate to say out loud, Penn state running backs. Name me the last Penn state running back that was really good college. That is true. There they're Larry Ry Johnson. Were Right, Tony Hip didn't do well. Tony Hunt till that's named Ken John Carter, Curtese, Eddie Gaskins, Eddie Gas, candy gas. It's lair, Thomas, Blair Thomas. Now we's we're going back. Dj doesn't even know these name. No, he has no clue who. Gaskins was a Frankfort Kid. Right, yeah, he was a frank for kid. Where's that stem? Well, our boy steve over there, see watery or Johnny Crayon, when his Frankford guys, Derrick Nornis? Yeah, you, you're right. It's tough. You know, they're not known as running back you. They're known as linebacker. You, and it has it was probably Larry Johnson was the layers. Larry Johnson was probably the last good NFL running back to come out of Penn State. There have been plenty of great running backs. They call it linebacker. You, bind backs. You. It's the school at the most running backs ever drafted. So, Oh, look at you from. That's why colleg yeah,...

I know, I didn't bring up along just for box yeah, it's got a brain in that head. Wow. So when after the giants made their pick, on twitter, des Bryant man named giants were going to be scary. Now out I don't see I don't know. Say now. I don't I do not see that at all. Did you see that? He is turned down a deal with the Ravens, a multiyear deal, because he wants to play one year. He's going the alshon model. He wants to play one year, get paid at but load of money, proved that he's worth it and then you get a multi year. Yeah, he's also said he wants to play it out the cowboys twice a year. So that means he wants to be the NFC's yeah, I don't see him fit in anywhere. Obviously not the eagles. The giants already came out and said they're not interested, and I don't see him fitting in with the redskins because they're a Dan Snyders, the only one who'd probably bring them in. Yeah, that's probably what he's hoping for. That is but the Redskins, to me they're kind of it seems like they're a little bit in a rebuilding stage. You know, they don't really have anybody that's too exciting this year. I mean they got Alex Smith, De Sean Jackson's out there anymore. Pierre Garsons gone. They got Chris Thompson, but Jordan reads always hurt. That defense is injured a lot. I don't really see them. I mean I see them as a rebuilding team. They're I don't know if they're rebuilding as much as they're just like they're like an eight seed in the NBA where there's just floating around. Right, they're vidiocre. Right there there's sixers before they start at the tank. Yeah, they're the sixers with Heaven Turner. Right, they're just mediocre. Yeah, they're there. You know, of the man I see. I see no threat out of Washington in the next five years, at minimal, you know, especially with Alex Smith, he didn't do a threw some numbers out in case, but he wantsn't a threat to win anything...

...out in case. And he's going to be the same way here in DC. Right, you got here, get dolphins on the board. We got VTA A. Oh it's a good pick. All right. I figured the dolphins, with that losing sue, they'd be looking for line help. Yeah, VI tave's out there, probably the best defensive lineman available at this point. But Davenport, yeah, or now fitzpatrick. Sorry, first little guy can play cornerback safety. Yeah, an, he went to Alabama, so he's an Alabama. Yeah, that's Alabama. Is going to come out of the first round again with like another five picks. Yeah, feel like the modern leagues for the football for the other jail and mills a little bittle bit. It's Patrick. A little bit of jail mills in them. Yeah, personal corner safety. Well, yeah, we'll see. Yeah, yeah, you look up a football factory in the dictionary and Alabama pops off. Yeah, all right, so father could all you brought up Jaylen Mills. Let's get into our birds. If there's a player that's going to be traded this weekend, there's dames have been out there in the offseason. Who Do you think could be on the block this weekend for the Michael Kendricks? Michael Kendricks, my drick ngs. Yeah, I agree. I think it's Kendricks and I think he had think he is going to be gone. Really do. What's he going to does he get it too? Do you get it to get a three. I think you get a third for Kendricks. Think you could get a three for him. I don't know if you can get it too now. You're not going to get a two for him. I could...

...say you can get a three for him. You might be able to get a low three for him. Maybe a three and like or what are in a five something. What about Darby? How he loves he seems like some of you can get a couple of mid round picks for yeah, that's that's why I see him as good as calling. What about it? They moved Darby. I I don't see Darby getting more than a form. Yeah, I think once warley got cut where they had his little issue and he got cut, I thought they would move a cornerback right. We have a few. I wouldn't do it, but you've heard round and round the leagues and where there's smoke there's fire. I wouldn't move Darby. I don't know. I don't know. You're going to get a lot of value for Darby. I think mills was probably the guy you would get the most value for right now, and I'm not moving mills either. WRESSEL, Douglass, but it's got. We be in hair. He's not going anywhere. He's not going anywhere with the green hair that we can't. That's a trademark. And he's been he's been recruiting dairyus guys. We'll talk about who we think the eagles are going to get at the end of around here. But another lsu boy. I think they're pretty set at the cornerback position. So Do I. I would prove any of them. Yeah, somebody comes to you, though, and says I'll give you a second round pick for mills, because what mills was like a seven six or seven seven round. Yeah, yeah, so somebody offers you that. I count it up before this show. I count it up. We have eight cornerbacks on the roster and three or four of them, of course, are solid starting type cornerbacks. And we got Sydney Jones coming back from from his injured yeah, and the other cornerbacks, they're really not guys that you've heard up. They're on the practice squad. But I would think out of the eight cornerbacks we would either be able to find somebody to take Worley spot from those other four or be able to trade somebody like Darby and get get it, you know, decent draft pick for...

...them. I think we're set there. I don't think their cornerback is an issue. I don't see it as an issue either. I I think if they do move anybody, it's it's Kendricks now. I mean he he came out and said last year to trade on, but they didn't. They held on to him and you know, they talked to him worked it out, but I think he's just making too much money. He's coming off his best year. His trade value will never be higher. So why not move them nick? It can't Kendrick. Kendrick says I was going to come and say, all right, Nick's extension. Does that make him more tradable or is that a sign that we're going to keep this guy? He's here, he's staying with us. I I think it's a sign of were we don't think once it's going to be ready to go. So I think fols is going to stay here and start a couple games and if whence goes down again, we have foals in our back pockets. So I think it's a sign of the same him staying, but the extension they signed him to, he's in essence being paid like a starting quarterback. In that second year he's getting like, I don't know, over fifteen mate close to twenty million that second yeah, it's a club option. That'll never happen, but does that make him? It's a little more of a trade ship my other team. My strict take on it is, Hey, thank you for winning us to set. That's what exactly how I take it. I just think it's thank thank you. Do you think they have any? I thinklings of moving them, moving folds. I think they're always going to listen, but they're not going to be actively moving them now, right, okay, but they will not actively. Yeah, you can't you. I'll take that. This is any backup quarterback, I don't care how much you like them, is always available to be trading. Yeah, Garoppolo, if but not not everybody. Not Every...

...backup quarterback is the super bowl MVP. But nobody, I mean nobody on a team is untouchable, but especially I cors it. You never know, how boy, you gotta give. Never know. You never know what any given time. All I know is that's what I think the extension was. Or Yeah, we stray. I was I thank you. I agree with that. To Do I think? I don't. Think Nick folds is moved it. Carson Wentz's health is such a wild card in that whole situation. Be To be here we go, carm to super two. So now now we got down a tape of Bay. They got viny curry, Bo Allen, JPP to bay and McCoy. Be a scary line. And they have JPP and KPP. That's right. That's going to be a scary line. Is Scary rotation. Yeah, for real quick, we got a question from the crowd. I'm looking at you because I've already been told it's before my time and I'm the oldest one in the at on next to you. So the last Jewish quarterback to be drafted and the first round. Right, we're just drafted. Jewish quarterback drafted in the first round, prior to Rosie, Bernie Kozar, prior to Josh Rose, and it just got drafted. Yeah, Bernie, Bernie, Bernie Kozar was he drafted in the first round. So just drafted one thousand nine hundred and fifty Bernie Koshar. It's I thought he was Jewish. Now I've no idea. Said Lackomanimond, and he became a quarterbacks coach? In fact, I think he was. He was a quarter was he a quarterbacks coach with the Eagles? I know the name. WHO's rankle's? Who is Randall's quarterbacks coach? Is that him Sid Sid Luckman...

...or sick Gilman? I forget, I don't remember. Okay, that's knowledge. That's that's that was slightly before my time, a little bit before you. Yeah, sure, even though I'm the oldest in the panel right now. Yeah, that was a look, a slight lag more than before my todd all right, so we just had vita a go off the board to the bucks coming up next. So we got you got the skins coming up next. All right, just the bills skins. Skins coming up in next side another and IFC's deponent, let's get back to the birds that real quick. All right. So we all agree that Kendricks is trade bait this weekend. Maybe it gets them a fourth. So, Shayla, because I's Jersey and I it's a position that we're not real deep at now. It's just that he's making a good amount of actually, especially Jordan Hicks health is heart that. You're exactly right. We're not deep at the position. And our mainstay in the middle is an injury waiting to happen. Yeah, at least that's the way his career is played out, going back to college, and that's not good. And in the two guys that they signed, you know their backups. They're not starter material. And when Jordan Hicks gets hurt, he doesn't get hurt for a game or two, gets hurt for the rest of the season. Yeah, it's not a strain now and I don't yeah, exactly. I don't want. I don't want to have to put my...

...middle lineback her position in the hands of a of a backup or special teamers. And that's what we're looking at. A fix goes down again again. That's a shit. He changes a completely. He changes the whole dynamic of the draft. He has no injury problems. I don't think we're even thinking about a linebacker. But that's what also makes training Kendricks like that. Yes, I agree with and I've said that he's amazing, how big he how much of a factor he truly is, because when he's healthy, what is he a top five lives? Sure, believable. Sure, so, he's a he's a and he's never talked about because he's injured. I would say he's a great linebacker when he's healthy because he's just he's got range from sideline the sideline, you know, he can rush the quarterback, he can cover and running back. He's got it all. And obviously, I mean it all worked out in the end, but soon as he went down and I Washington game, the whole defense change. Yeah, immediately. Yeah, and and he's actually got the type of injury that takes more than a year to come back from. Yeah, you know you're not. You're not ready to go. Six months later, this is two seasons later. I'm back to where I was before my injury. So it could be a while before we see Jordan Hicks back to being Jordan Hicks. You know, I do like talk about the injuries. Is that in this in this day and age, I'm going to make myself sound like an old man with all the social media and just the access into the players. Have you seen some of the videos like Carson Post, Jason Peters posts, a lot of those guys working out and peters went smarragoes, Hicks. They're all in there the weight room all the time, working out together as a team, getting better getting healthy. So I think that that positive mentality of death, I'm here at the team,...

I'm going to get better, is going to help them rehab a little quicker and hopefully he's back and he's health eated. That's not an injury that it's going to be a week eight when we finally go oh, that's the Jordan Hicks that we love, that that is a dominant linebacker that's going to hold down this defense for us. And and I'm looking to all those guys coming back hungry, ready to win the super bowl for themselves, not standard on the sideline. You know, of course this is not to take away from the guys who actually went out and did it, but those guys that were on ire there like great, it's wonderful that we won the super bowl. Got Ourselves a ring, but you know what, I want to be on the field next year. I want to be the one that's doing the work out there. I want to be the one protecting the quarterback thrown those touchdowns. Thank you for the ring, but I want to I want to earn my ring. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. It's take the pain. It's a little high. I think the other Crimson tide guy. I don't get that. He's a solid pick. That is it. He's safe. I think he's safe. Oh, I thought they would attacked that secondary. Maybe because Darwin? I think Darwin James Is Second. It's like every GM still files the same path. Dan Snyder's always been a defensive tackle, d line person that never can seem to get it and they keep chasing that white whale. It's unbelievable. I've been saying for several years now that as long as Dan Snyder trade, sorry, the packers trade the picks to the saints, as long as Daniel Snyder is the owner of the Redskins, they're not going to win a super bowl. So I hope and he's I think he's a fairly young guy. I hope he sticks around for another thirty years or so because I don't think they will win a super bowl as long sees the the owner of there's that team. Bit of breaking news. A trailer at...

...the saints. Just trade it up. So that's not that's our big jump. Yeah, huge chump. So there's somebody out here that the saints really want. I'm looking through some of these names. I had the saints look at it a tight end, at the end of the drift, at the end of the round here, and they were down the twenty seven. I think it's Alexander. You can buy Alexander. Yeah, they have no cornerbacks, they have no defense. Oho, the saints. Yeah, who's the guy they had last year, the rookie? Oh, the work that try. But a linebackers out there right now. Has He recovered, though, from that touch? Yeah, they know something we don't. But so they still need me name the corner they did for and, like Jim just said, linebackers. One guy that jumps out as a Shaan Evans. He didn't. He hasn't gone yet. So and he re main edmonds is still out there. Yeah, so this is a big trade for the same. See, that's why I love the draft like it's, even though it's more dare like he's, even though he's a solid D to. He probably went five or six spots too early. So I'll yes, and now of a sudden that that player at the saints want was in place, they are able to get up and get him, and it's a player who they probably thought was going to go the very next pet. So let'll be interesting to say. So now seeing how the draft is start in the fall. We talked about some of the needs we think the eagles have, like the linebackers, talking about trading kendricks. So what's what's your biggest need for the Eagles in this draft? What's your priority? I still it's, you know, it's just not a deep offensive line draft. That's always going to be my number one priority. But for the first round, we're GONTA. I'm probably to put you on a on the spot to we're you're going to give your pick with this. Yeah, we're winding down here, so give us your priority and...

...who you think it is. Well, not my priority is stalled at the LINEMAN. But who I think it will be? It's probably Evans, Sean Evans, Sean Evans. Yeah, that's why I would love to see him follow us. I don't know. If he does, it's going to be closed. I think he's. I think he's twenty five to thirty two. I do. Yeah, who'd you say? Do you think Rashaan Evans? You think they stay put and get him a thirty two? Do you think Howie makes some moves and jumped up a little bit? I think if he's gone, I I really think they're hying him. I but if he's gone, I can see them trading down. Okay. Yeah, I'm always very big on trading down. Like, if he doesn't like his guy, he just trade. He will trade out. Yeah, Jo, I agree with if you don't like, if you don't have your guy, don't just pick somebody. Exactly what happened with Marcus Smith. Yeah, that was there's no way they that was a guy that they kind of liked, but they were thought they're going to get him in the third round. So, yeah, I hope we're. Shaan Evans falls saw us, but, like you said, father, if, if, if they're guy's not there, don't be afraid to trade back and get picks and return. So I don't know. I I think our biggest need is, I would say, linebacker. Backer. Yeah, but not because, especially if they're going to trade Kendricks. So I'll put you on a line. You gotta tell me then you you drafting a linebacker the end there. Yeah, trading back. If the guys there, I'm drafting. If not, I'm trading back. Keep an eye on hers, though. I what do you got to my order? A priority for the eagles would be offensive line. The linebacker. That being said, I think they're going running back. I think they're going the kid from Lsu. He got in a screaming fight with Halley Rosemond Oh, he did yes at the cup. Yeah, one of the wide workouts. So maybe...

...how yea. That just can't be how he appreciates that. Baby. got a little spoke to him. That just came out today. PUT GM and the guy's already fight with me during a combine. Why would you get from screaming match when I got it? Those potentially gonna hand you a multimillion dollar lottery will say I actually tighten. Some keep saying tight end to me and I don't know why it is it is. It is the blue and white over here. That's tight end, Mr just say out of that's how you end, and I'm gonna get that image of this and tight end of my head for the rest of my life. All right, if I'M gonna Christ is a faith right now after that, if I'm on the hook, I agree that. I think our most pressing need is linebacker. I think they need to trade up if they're going to get Evans. I'd love to see Evans. I don't think that's going to happen. I think they stay put at the end of the draft here. Yep, and I think I agree with you, DEEC. There's just been too much talk about guys. If grayce is there, he's their main if Gyce isn't there, I think they trade back, get a high second round pick and they look at another one of the running backs or they look at a tight end. Y'All, you could always use Lineman, offensive defensive lineman. You can never have enough. It's like what it if billy one of those years where you could say, what's the Best Player of Albar? I mean we have pretty decent depth across most most of the offense. At defense there's not a glaring need, other than maybe linebacker, and that's only if they decide to get rid of Kendricks. Yeah, I think that the thing we have to keep in the back of our mind is they have so many players coming back from the IR I mean, I think that's something that's just not talked about enough. Is They and I view them as added draft picks. Yeah, Tom Me Jones are second round pick. Yeah, coming back to us. You know, Jason Peters, Chris Mara, goes, Carson Wentz, Jordan Hicks, I see...

...and Sidney Jose. I see them as additional treaty. We only have six, but I view them as a additional draft picks because they weren't there for that playoff run. They weren't there, but they're going to be there this year and, you know, hopefully they're able to be productive. I think they will be. Just an interesting little tidbit. An article I read the paper talked about undrafted players and how many were actual starters for both teams last year and I think there were total six undrafted players who were starters in last year super bowl. And even though this guy didn't play in the Super Bowl, I was amazed that he was an drafted player. Jason Peters was undrafted as as a college kid coming out tight ends, coming out of the tight end. Yes, how ends a tight end, and he's probably going to the hall of fame. Yep, he is, as an undrafted free asier coming out of college. That's amazing. All right, it's been fun, folks, thanks for listening in. This is the sand abode first podcast. We've had a great night so far.
