ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Hello, you are now tuned into another episode of the saint a boot first podcast, brought to you from the new, another new studio here at the Wildfire Radio Studios, powered by wildfire sports. This is your cohost, Jim Marcus, back and better than ever. Mr Dike Martin, supporting the JAB. That your own Brown Jersey. Say, yeah, old school, old school, got the Kelly Green, Nice, Old Eagle, beautiful, beautiful. Yes, thanks for tuning in again. We got our main behind the glass, tk. What up, tk, I un'stand recognized Dick for a second. It's been a while. Huh, it's been a while. And where you been? I'm doing pretty good. Have it yourself. Don't know, right. I've been traveling here and there, working here and there. I see by that. Yeah, trying to stay out of trouble yet a hat. I talked a little bit about Nashville. Dead Yeah, I don't know if you want to throw any yeah and he nuggets in, any gems. Do Your experience? It was? It was all. First of all, it was the furthest I've ever gone. I've only gone to three away games. It was the furthest I've ever gone. I've been the giant stay and for the to see him play the jets and the giants. So it was the furthest I've ever gone for an away game. It was it was an experience. The we got down there about Friday afternoon, Friday night, Saturday night hanging out on Broadway was just unreal. It was nothing I've ever experienced before. It was so cool to go everywhere in town and just see eagles fans everywhere. We went to the grand old opery on Saturday afternoon, did the tour. Then we went to the Gay Lord Opry Lane Hotel and convention set or whatever it's called, and that was spectacular and again the place was humongous, but all you saw were eagle fans bring everywhere, everywhere, everywhere you went Gilbert rattilberds, right into your parents and their crew and it was just I couldn't I was stunned by the amount of eagles fans that I saw everywhere in Nashville. We truly took that city over and I think on the flip side of that, the other amazing thing was from Friday afternoon till Sunday morning game time, and of course I expected to see a lot of titans gier Sunday morning game time. But from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning I saw one titans tshirt and that would have it. That was it for that stretch of time. And I must I had to see tenzero or more eagles shirts and hats and whatever. It was just it was spectacular. The whole the whole way we took over in everybody was so nice and friendly with each other. The titans fans, they you know, they were nice with us and yeah, that I have to I have to stretch how nice two people are in Nashville. Totally different mindset from more tea's quarter the United States. It's just it was fascinating it they should do some sort of social study or experiment. Is something down it. The people were just so nice and you know, the you know, we kidded with each other back and forth about eagles, titans in this and that, and it was it was so nice. The people there were just they were they were so different from what the mentality is up here. I think it's just a northeast thing. Everybody else is normal. The residents strays is normal. The attitude in the in the...

...whatever chip on the shoulder comes from thee from DC on up. It's just a way. You think it's just sports, you you think it's everything with us up everything iverything. I agree, it's everything. Yes, we're not quite as laid back now. You're laid back until you walk out of Your House and then you just got to grow this exterior, you know, and just be able to deal with whatever you're going to come across during your your day. It's weird the way that that whole thing, that whole social thing down there is just and Taylor, I tend to agree with you. It's it's the rest of the country that is nice and everything so condensed and, yeah, mashed on top of each other, people top of each other times fick drives is crazy. Yeah, yeah, a who we are. Yeah, no, I agree. And you know, people down in Nashville there, of course are plenty of locals, but a lot of people down there come from other parts of the country and if you're into the music scene, if you're looking to break into the music industry, you got to go there. And in fact I have a friend of mine from my old neighborhood. Him and his girlfriend lived out there and he's in the music scene and he says, this is where you got to be if you want to be in the music it was an awesome music scene. Probably is wherever you want live music. Yeah, all different types of live music. The one thing I thought was funny, I don't know if I mentioned this in a podcast last week's, with the bands there. They don't get paid. The bars don't know. Hey them. No. So I found her in sets. They walk through the crowd and pasty nations and if you want to request twenty dollars, will play whatever song you want. The one bar we were in a guy asked him to play Nirvana Teen Spirit and he did not look comfortable playing it. He was like, we'll give it a shot. E did. Okay, okay, but it's definitely it's it's a country town. Yeah, so you get a lot of country music, but if just just a live music part of yeah, I thought it was great and regardless of there being a football game that weekend, that's kind of the one of the main reasons we went down there and it's just it was just a great city jet just to hang out. I would definitely go back. There's no doubt my mind. I would go back. I don't know if I would drop down there and back again, but I'm definitely going back if I can, if I have the chance, I'm definitely going back. And yes, you said that there's you're not going to find just country music. It has the reputation in the stereotype of being about all country music, and rightfully so. That's the overwhelming majority of music you're going to find. Are But my body out there was telling me you can find anything out here. You can find jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Rock, whatever you want to find, you will find it. You just got to know where to look, where to go. But you will find that whatever genre of music you're into, you can go somewhere and see it live. The one bait, the one bar were in the band played TLC, new scrubs, nick girls saying yeah, yeah, yes, no, some one of this country. Yes, it is all right. So That's enough. Reminiscent of the BARN HMM trip. whihould we were back there again, especially with the way the weather is today getting colder, although I'm looking forward to the fall. Let's talk some football. MMM, let's do yeah, the Viking game at this point has been beat down a bit. The giants games a little fresh, but I want to touch on the Viking get your thoughts on the ucings game. Did was just a lack of discipline on the team really showed that Bli's game. Too many bad penalties, bad play calling again by Doug and we just got whooped on both sides and on for that game. Defensive Line couldn't get pressure again. So kirk cousins looked Adam feeling. He was just open, constantly, teem like, and cousins had time to throw the ball. And then on the offensive e side of Lean Johnson, I want to get into a little bit more if we took with the Jones game too, but lean and peters, those bookends. I'm getting a little worried. Yes, I am too, coming coming back from the Tennessee game, coming home. You know they've been kind of a check on hide on the road and at home to type of team...

...up until the Minnesota game. We were expecting more coming home after the loss and they just came out and and the same thing they had been doing up into that point, getting the slow start. It's like they come out of a locker room, but they don't come out of a locker room. You know physically they're there. But mentally they're not and they just get off to this slow start. They get behind. Dog, you know, decides he needs to pass the ball, pass the ball, pass the ball, and I m get that part. But when, unless the lead gets to be two or more scores, there's and is at it. As long as you're still early enough in the game, you don't need to abandon the run. And that's what he does and I now I'm not liking that facet of dog so far this year where he abandons the run because he gets behind or thinks, for whatever reason, it's not working. You've got to be able to establish that run, maintain that run. The offensive line and joy's run blocking more than they enjoy pass blocking because they're they get to be the aggressor yp as opposed to being slapped around, and they just they lose that edge when you have to play from behind. You would expect this team to be able to play from behind. They have, you know, I feel they have the weapons, especially now the Carson is back, that they would be able to play from behind early on. Yet maybe nick foles isn't the type of quarterback that is able to play catch up, but I think Carson is he's got the weapons, he's got the skill set to play from behind and be able to, you know, get it, to put the job up be productive. Yes, I think we're. You know we're, and I said this when when blunt left, we were going to miss him and I think he's our biggest loss of the player, of the seventeen players that are gone from last year Super Bowl squad. He's the biggest hit and one you can feel. Yep, definitely. You miss them both in the locker room and on the field. And look what he's done for Detroit so far. You know, he's got a couple touchdowns last week and he's he wasn't a guy that was going to be, you know, twenty touches in the hundred and twenty yards and touchdowns. Hmmm, he's a gimme ten touches up, I'll end up with seventeen yard, but there's ten touches too. Might be touchdowns exactly, and that's what we need down there in that red zone. We don't have that pounder and and tell or hit on it. A couple times last we were talking that and the slow start with the run game. It was doug maybe trying to compensate for a GI that MMM, he's playing with a broken back. Let's not. We can't make him a workhorse right now. And Clement was healthy. Lace we come see understands watching. We see him on the sideline, but he never got in. I don't want to take anything away from small wood. I thought small wood did a decent job, as we did well last week, but I heard at some point during the week that they were saving clements for Thursday and they were only going to play them Sunday in case of emergency, if they needed him. But they really wanted on to get that extra rest until Thursday night and be ready for Thursday and, as things turned out, luckily they did. Yeah, because analogies done for the season and you know, I'm I've heard now that that peters has to torn boxes. Yeah, that's a painful injury and the position that he plays he needs to be able to extend those arms. Yep, and I don't know exactly when that injury occurred but to my knowledge finished the game. I didn't make it in much into the fourth quarter. Fell sweet Thursday, but yeah, he finished the game, finish the game. It sounds like what you read now. He thinks he can play with it. He doesn't need surgery right away, but I agree at that position in but...

...that you realize your arms, you need to extend the arms and keep that guy off you and off the quarterback obviously, and the offensive line. I cant. I commented early to offensive line was exactly that. They were offensive early on and it was brutal to watch those guys in the way they the way to the network, where was an NFL network, the way they were highlighting their lack of protection on cars and especially early on watching both Johnson and and Peters, it was scary to watch what was going on. And Peters, you know, he's coming off the ACL last year, is coming off a quater injury earlier this year which I don't think he's fully healed from, and now he's got the torn biceps. The guy is showing his age. Number One. He's, and I'm sorry but I believe he's. He's got to be thirty two, forty pounds overweight. He needs, he needs, he needs to slim down. He's just too big. I know you got to be big for the position, but he's just too big and he's thirty six now. Yeah, you know I think he's done after this year. I don't just between the age, the weight and the number of injuries. Pile it up. I can't see him. Look at the mayor want to play somewhere else, but I don't think it's going to be an eagles green. Yeah, I mean look the mirror. You gotta think about the rest of the team. Like sucks about you're holding them back with all these plays, like they just keep on happening. And I mean nobody likes the point thing years, but what happens that often you gotta step up and you know, like yourself in the Mare and you say it as seventy five percent peters is better than a hundred percent vitie. I don't know, I don't. I don't know what that's all either. I mean by Tye we he's kind of an easy whipping boy, right, but he did play well through the playoffs as he got it there, got more time. He played well enough and men believe, make him learn it right. Do you is peters, if he's really a leader for this team? Do you think he's the kind of guy that says, coach, you know what, yeah, I need a couple weeks. I need a couple weeks at the BICIP thing, that's just going to be lingering injury. But if the catch still not right, at Quad, still out right, does he say, Doug, give me a couple weeks and and get vital you in there and get him rolling it? Yes, to know that he's not what he should be. Yeah, I'm sure if he somebody asks him, he seems like the type of guy that would say, yeah, I'm not not playing at night there. At my book there's a there's a distinction between playing hurt and playing injured and I think at this point he's playing injury, which is a you know, a more severe level of pain entered carries a lot more at Correcter, a certain aid correct. Yes, especially at thirty six years old, especially carrying the weight that he is carrying. And you know when you're getting those leg injuries carrying that weight, they seem to be more intense and, you know, longer to back from. Yeah, I think, I think if he is the quote unquote wanted a team leaders, that he just might have to say that dog, you know, let Vitetye take it over for a while, let me heal up and hopefully I come back for the stretch Ron fully healed and, you know, able to take take the and pick up where I've I've was before the injuries started to accumulate, specially with the by coming up, you know, and maybe that's it. I get the week going into the buyer, a couple weeks going into the buy yeah, yeah, me three and you know, maybe to well, maybe a trip to London. Maybe he doesn't need to take that. Who knows? You know, who knows? There's that offensive line there. There just seems to be something going on there. Really they're really is getting whooped and then with clicking his ankle spraying. He played well enough on Thursday night, but was new ski getting pulled out and it seems like they're getting back into this rotation of we need to find the best group with the way an offensive line works is they don't...

Gell until they get enough time to play together. They were so dominant last year and maybe they're. There had to be some sort of dropoff in the level play because they were so dominant last year. You can't maintain that over the course of seasons. You can do it over season, but maybe not overseasons, and maybe that's the problem. Now you know it's Capt you injuries or catching up to them. You know, Lane Johnson didn't give up one sack last year, I think, and maybe it's just a law of averages catching up tone. Who knows? He's got to get back on the juice and he'll he'll have the same seat we do. That's right. That's a sitting here break down game. What it's yeah, speaking, that's breaking down game. So tell her. I told you last week that father caver had the chance to go out and say mass for the Eagles before the game. Yes, so we get a text Saturday night. MMM, mass was great. Lane Johnson offered me to come back and then watch some film tape with the guys and do some film studying. And cavars a defensive line coach, you'd think he'd be all over that. He'd be s out. Yeah, let me get in there. I'll sit down and watch how the prose bit break down the film. MMM, no, he panicked, he said, pannacked and biled. No, thank you, L thank you, Mr Johnson. But and if you're he's the defensive line coach now. Yeah, right, so just if you're the head coach a carol and you and he comes back to you neck plush on sleds. Yeah, it's right, you're pushing sleds, cavary, get out there, the collar off and get the shorts on, dude, and you can't you go back? You say, yeah, coach, I think I made a bad move. What's that, Father Mark? What's you though? Wow, I had a chance to break down some film with Lane Johnson. I said thanks, but no thanks. You did what? Yeah, you know. I mean that's a valuable tool that you can bring back to your team and help your team makes you questions, a decision May oh my God, at and what he what he told is that in the text. I was just like you, Oh my God, Dope, I'm glad he's not here to defend themselves. Yeah, right, yeah, makes it a lot easier to trash him. Will make sure to let him know to listen. Bahah yeah, all right. So the Vikings game. We all came out of that like Shit. MMM, Shit. I didn't think it was a must win game. I said from the beginning of the season when we want to do in our are like predictions for the season. I never really felt good about the vikings game, regardless of injuries and how the team was playing, but it almost had that feel of to me. It wasn't a must win, but it started to get to that point where it's another NFC game. Exactly got us. We're gay at least stay with the pack at this point. It's a conference it was a conference game and in order for the Eagles to go far again in the playoffs, they've got to have home field advantage. Winning the division is only gets you one home game. It doesn't get you anything. Doesn't lie anything at that that you've got US stack those conference wins up and have that conference record at the end when you have a team like Ram overall, yes, yeah, yeah, we gotta go back out to La we got to go to New Orleans. Those Games are critical, I feel, must win games and I kind of felt because of the way we had been playing and because of the fact that I don't think the the you know, going on the road in the playoffs is going to be to our best interest. We've got to win these games, against those conference teams especially, but against a better conference teams, and we've got to make them come back here. You know, we took care of that against Atlanta, but we didn't do it against Minnesota. Now the rams game is more critical. The Saints Game is more critical. We've already lost as many games that last year this year. Yeah, you know, we've already got that number. So they they've got to get those...

...end and we've got I felt in the beginning of the season that we would sweep the season and possibly or go five and one, maybe four to at worst. Now we must sweep the division. We work at the point where we have to sweep the division because we got to stack those division and conference wins. Yeah, if we look into playoffs, yeah, we've got to. We got to sweep the division and and between the saints and the Rams we've got at least split. We've got at least split, if not, because we got to get those wins to come back here and have everything here again. And if you're going to split, you prefer to take the rams game because the way they're looking right now. Yeah, that's the team to beat in the INN's Seattle if you want to try to loss. And they got a tough division with Atlanta and Carolina. Said they might get a couple more losses in their own division. Yeah. So, yeah, we got to get that rams game because the rain, the rams are going to win their division. They've got there pretty much wanted already a season laddle. Seattle's the only competition in the division and I think the rams got it all for Seattle. Yeah, they already went up there on one so and you know, Frisco, I don't think they were going to be anything anyway, but now they're down their starting quarterback. Yeah, so in Arizona's done. Yeah, Arizona's got a rookie quarterback and they're trying to figure out what the team they are, where they're going to frow or run? Yep. And so you got them out there in the West being, you know, the rams, running away with things, you got the tough south and now here we are in the NFC least. HMM. Right. So I think that's the one thing we have going for us is that you look at this NFC east and it's not the NFC east. Smell of old. Not Not any showed. Yeah, not of the JP days. No, I'm even some of the DALKIN's days. I'm gonna Dalkin Day that game Thursday night. Knows, we looked good. They look like they're back to Super Bowl Forum. You know, the low line protected Carson car should moved around really well in the pockets. They had a run game going. Ashoun looked great. But how much of that was just how bad the giants are too? Well, they are bad. And you know, when Saycom say Quan Barkeley, your boy, nobody. Will you wearing your we are? Were you wearing your blue twentys? It's good, good boy. Where are my eagles? Green coball good. When he touched the ball, it was there. Was Frighten. was like a video games, some of those adect. That guy is double hurdles and if they ever builds an offense around him, we are in trouble because that, I was frightening when he touches the ball. Yeah, the giants are that bad, I think, and I think in the second half they kind of proved it, because I think they just they said, I we tap out. You guys got this. Well, we'll see you next time. We'll keep handing to say que and if, yeah, he keeps us in it, great, otherwise, right. Yeah, I think the defense really had a big let down for them in the second half and but I think the eagles started to come around. They finally put their foot down and say screwed us. Enough is enough. This is a game we must win. Yes, we should win, we should dominate, and they came out and they did exactly that. That the games against the giants, even though we own a dominating record against them, in recent years, most of the games against the giants have gone down to the last minute, probably close games. Yeah, you know, look at last year. Up there was was a lastminute tryballs out of giants and they shot themselves in the foot with the false star. And then the game here with Elliott, don't kick a sixty one yearder to win, and that was was that a no? That was an overtime, right, or and the radically does the end of regulation. Yeah. So, I mean these Games have gone down as to the last minute with these guys. So they came out and they dominated from the beginning and that's exactly what we needed. And I and Carson, even though he's back, he hasn't been the car and from last year. Right. Some of that has to do with the with the less skilled play on the...

...offensive line, missing a couple of a couple of year skill guys. So some of that was due to what was going on around them. But I still got a bit of a feeling that Carson just wasn't quite himself yet. He was a little slow, I think, in in leaving the pocket, escaping the pocket. He got caught a couple times, whereas last year before injury. I don't know if he gets call it, he was a little indecisive about things. You know, he wasn't getting that big run that he got last year. You know, he was getting five to ten yards as opposed to fifteen to twenty yard and so he was I don't think he was quite back to himself yet. This game he looked much more like himself, like pre injury Carson. You saw it in that touchdown to out sound Jeff yes, where he yes, he had I think it was like seven seconds they had the time around. It spun out of it into the pie, into the pack, spun out break it to the outside across his body back of the end zone. Just that was the Carson. Yes, that was the MVP Carson last you're so in it's nice to see that. Yeah, and see him coming around. Yeah, and and I just I didn't realize this. He he's got one of the longest streaks of throwing multiple touchdown passes and in a row. He's up to like nineteen or something like that, which I did not realize. and to see him be able to do that coming back from the injury, you know, even though he wasn't quite himself yet coming back from injury, he's still able to keep that streak alive. And then on Thursday throws three of them. Yeah, and that first one that Jeffrey looked really darp yeah, and he scrambled out at a pocket a couple of times. You run a couple times, a couple yet dedicated all. Yeah, he picked up a first down or two with the runs. I think he's starting to come around. Hopefully the offensive line. I'm hoping that the entire team makes that leap back to what they were before he got hurt and what they were at the end of the season last year with with the with the Vikings game in the Super Bowl. I'm hoping that the entire team makes that leap to the next level, because they certainly weren't playing it. You know, call it to hangover whatever you want. They just for some reason, be it mental, be it physical, they weren't there yet and I'm hoping that this game springboards them and on to that next level where they start to take off and they start dominating. You know, last year they won what eight to ten games in a row by twenty plus points, whatever it was with the just rolled teams. It takes his steamroll teams. I'm hoping. You know, Carolina coming up is a tough game coming up. This is another test of where they stand as opposed to where they were before the giants game. You know, I expect to win the game. I don't expect to roll them, but I expect us to win the game. You know, maybe it's probably going to I don't think it to come down the WHO has the ball last. Expect us to be ahead and keep them at arms length, but caroline is going to hang around and make it tough. Yeah, and then we go to Jacksonville, and you know, who knows good in love it with that? Yeah, I play. Yes, yes, yes, yes, who knows what's going to happen here? Because Jacksonville's saying, yeah, they're kind little, if he little, right right now, yeah, that they're in a funk. Lost of the titans, MMM, last diday. They didn't pull that against the chiefs last week. Right, the chiefs beat, not less. She's beat on good. Yeah, they're in a funk right now. Yeah, the facets of the game that you saw starting to come around, that they saw Thursday night. So special teams, MMM, and like they were starting to come around. Carter look pretty good at a few good returns and on the cover bridge. Like in him on the return. Yeah, I like him back in return the kicks. Yeah. Defensive Line back to getting pressure. Part of it's...

...probably Eli holding the ball too long, but three sack on the n lines. Yeah. And then the third downs. HMM. So back to Carson. He was one fourteen to fifteen on third downs, but almost a hundred seventy yards and to td's on those third downs. Those are the pieces of the game that we haven't seen yet this year that, if they can start clicking, end dug having him, were balanced team. Yeah, it was. It was almost fifty. You thirty six day, thirty one runs. Yes. So to your comment earlier with the offensive line, you know these guys are busted up and you know they're they're struggling a little bit. Right, run the ball right, have them just downhill, push and impose their will and and see what it gets you. So it they look good. No, look really good. Nothing takes to wind out of its defensive team sales like just getting pounded with the run. I mean when you're giving up yards there in the passing game, yeah it kind of deflates a little bit, but when you're getting just pummeled and you're getting knocked around, you're getting knocked off the line of scrimmage, guys are picking up for five yards at a pop, it's really deflating, especially to the defensive line and the linebackers, because that is supposed to be there for Tay. You know that they're they're the first line of defense, so to speak, and then they should be stopping that run. And when the when the line and the linebackers can't hold up that end at a bargain and they just get pounded, that's really deflating to them. And I agree when you opposed to impose your will that way, it's really degrading to a defensive team and they they go by bye when that happens. But you can see it at the end of the Oh yeah, Veri Vernon seemed like to be he seemed like he's the only one still playing defensive my moody and the Meme Yep, and and I was glad to see that. You know that the big plays with say quanders, and you know those aside and not going to stop this. Now you are, you're not. And I hate, I hate this bend to I've been thinking about this for the last few weeks. This bend. But don't break business. I can't stand it. We scored a touchdown right off a turnover. We scored a touchdown. What do we do? We let them come right back down the field. Yet they didn't score to touchdown, but they scored. They answered our Sabat. Why do we have to do that? What is there a rule in the eagles handbook that says you can't go three and out on defense? You have to let the other team go right and getting on the field, come down here. Yeah, getting the fighting kids right. I mean it just drives me nuts. This bend it, but don't break business. Get off the field due to three and out. There's nothing wrong with three and out and you get yourself some rest, you know, get yourself off the field, get arrest. It was a nasty night Thursday night up there. You know, just get off the field. Tennessee was brutally hot down are Tampa Bay was brutally hot. Get yourself off the field, get yourself some rest, get your water, because when you when you have those kind of drives where you're on the field early for five, six, seven minutes, whether you give up points or not, it's going to take its toll later in the game. You're not going to have the fresh legs, you know you're going to be a little gast and it may come into play later in the game where you end up giving up that that tying or go ahead touchdown or or field goal. So I hate the bend of broke, don't break business drawing me nuts. I think part of that is just poor technically. They're still some poor cabins. I don't think they go in there thinking that all right, let's let them March down here. It's just forget about se Quin because, like we said, he he's going to get that. But there was just other bad tackling there. They miss play with the their angles and then they don't know how to wrap people Um and yeah, that's that's always seems to be one of those things that the eagles had an issue with. It has one or two guys in a team that tackle their gone great for the show that the rest of them are like.

Nobody did. The perfect one was Jakin's going right for se Quan's legs, and Sa Quan's a smart guy. He knows this is the only people are going to take me down. That's why you see him just leap frogging, because all the time, yeah, yeah, wrap up at the waist and bring them down. Yea, who cares if you don't make the highlight real what a big hit? Who Cares? Do Your job and do big hits anymore. anyways. Right, exactly. Do Your job and bring the guy damn minimize the damage he's already done, you know, because how many times you see a guy go for the big hit on with the shoulder and they bounce off and they came out on the five to ten yards. Bring the guy down, minimize the damage. Play over. You know what's gonna shut up his playing? I guess you know. I mean like if I take him down this way, maybe that'll show him. Yeah, that'll that'll de flay them a little bit. And know, this guy's second overall pick. There's Oh Arkley. We're talking about. Okay, a guy who doesn't like to get hit. It seems like oh B J MMM again with his aunt takes on Thursday night. He looks scared, feeling punks back there. It's too reach in the road now where? Yes, he's muffed the punt. Luckily he's gotten a back both time. Or No, did he lose it late? I think he lost it last he must want. Yeah, he did. He did lose it last week. This week he got it back, but now he must this week too. Yeah, but he recovered it, right, he yet last week the giants did you cover? But you have a rookie like say, Quan, trying to talk to this guy on the side. Right, he just gave this guy huge extension and he's beaten up the sideline equipment again and he's screaming and yelling and while they're not utilizing him, which I understand his frustration. Yeah, why, why do you? Why do you have that guy in your team when he's getting hteen yards? I like that was that's a joke. But is there a certain way to do that? Like he don't. I think we all agree, and I think most of New York could probably agree. Eli Stinks Right now. Yep, right, so that's that's the problem. Eli Stinks, but I don't think you want to show your teammates up like that. And he had the interview earlier in the week where he made a comment along the lines of they've been no down field balls, as you're holding me back, this guy's holding me back. Yeah, I understand why you would go against him, but I don't think it's fair at all, like only rail on him because he's easy target. He makes himself. That's why it's easy to rest one, I mean, but it's like this guy isn't utilizing him like he's one of the best in the league and he's not being able to perform that, and it's kind of doing the service said fans of the NFL that want to see, you know, this great talent. What do you do that? On the sideline, though, I can't. That's nothing. That's that's that position. There's nothing there. I'm going to run would be the sea and he's hats. Nothing new is out there. Yeah, welcome to the welcome to why professional wide receiver. Yeah, with the blonde hair and the stents all on the back, stants, all hair in the back, he's a knucklehead. Yeah, I don't he's not. He's not good with those annex, knocking his head into the fan. Did you see that? Yeah, the end of the game it was head button. He's head button a fan. I guess you didn't learn his lesson from the Washington Redskin quarterback. That because the rock get that's for rot that headbutted the concrete and was out. What a concussion for a month or whatever. All Right, I suld think you guys are against you with Obj, but I'm one of the things I wanted to talk about today was overrated players. Stop it, not you, you don't mean out. You're not buying it. Stop. He's overrated. I'm saying it. He's overrated. Well, in your text you said over a height. I when you gave me my homework assign right, you said over a height. You wanted to talk over all guys. An immense talent. I don't what did he shows the over hyped. Or is he over revere? If you're that great of a talent man, here we go. When's he taking over a game? I just said there's not. He's utilizing anti on the takeover. Yes, you can't make you can't eat, can't...

...make you like best. Stop It. Your bias is showing. I know it is. I'm fine with that. He's got it do a key shown. He say you row me to day and ball your bys is showing and he won't say Damn, worried about Berkeley. Ever, you might be right on that. Yeah, exactly. I know how you been say people opinion. This is not I'm trying to point out your inconsistencies here. All right, I don't know if Odell is an overrated or over hyped player. I mean he plays for the giants, so that's the media capital the world up there. So He's, you know, he can't help it be over a height, or height, I should say, because of where he's playing. If he was playing in Tampa Bay or you know, someplace like that, some remote plays, I don't think he would be getting the same type of hype as he's getting it. Yeah, it's magnified in the market he's in, but I still think the you know, highlight plays still make kind of you to catch that, goot him a contract together. Yeah, what's the last highlight play? All right, so he can't, he can't make Eli better. But we talked about the puns. MMM, all right, your muffin puns. Four nineteen since he was on that boat. MMM FOR D nineteen, you're telling me you that could. We could take over a game. Jerry rich could take over Barry Sanders, he played with one of the worst lines. He could take over a game. Yeah, he's over hyped. Maybe I won't say overrated, over hyped, which like pleas hairs. Like Taylor just said, he's a product of where he plays as far as his hype is concerned, because he plays in New York. Well, North Jersey, but it's got that ny on the helmet. I I you guys can disagree. I I can't buy it all this one. There are there are a few guys you listed in that text. It. I just all right, I kind of cringe, Dad, when you this what I think teller's going to agree with, because we've talked about this a couple times. Okay, Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers, Oh my God, no, what I'm on? Don't you think he's overhyped? No, that's all I'm saying. I don't do this. Okay, like to agreedst ones in a row. Let I got it. I got it. You're saying these names just for ratings. Yeah, you throw this out. Your being really it just reading interesting. Nobody's saying Rogers is overrated. Always actually so the last time. He will now stop it. They they don't. He went to to stay. They went to two super bowls. Right, names, Namie, maybe one one. Name me the best offensive players he's played with and a Girrin back in the day. And who were his receivers? You held? Where's Geordie? Oh, but in his in his prime, Jordine Nelson was damn good. Okay, but okay, one, one, one guy who's the tight the tight end he had, but I would love to know his name. Now you're going over there. Rogers, he was good up there, Richard Rogers, Rogers, and I know we talked about this. Part of it is they don't put enough around them. Alization paying him? Yeah, they're paying him and nobody else. So that's parted a problem, and it was before even got paid. I have receivers going through my heads, but they're like Jennings and guys that. I agree there. They weren't. They were top five receivers, top ten receivers. If they were, it was only because of Rogers. Yeah, right, right, these guys left. I packers and rods, the keys, I went to yeah, Roger's not going to bite on that one either. Ye, Rogers has like a Lebron of effect, like he makes the guys around him look that much better than they actually are. Okay, only wish that Beckham could do it. Would you? Would you say he's wanted a top three quarterbacks in the game today?...

Yes, today he might be falling out of the time, he still, I'd say, tough fun. Just to way some of these quarterbacks playing what today were out of it, Brady Breeze, and then then you're starting to get into do you want to look at some of these younger guys and say they're there yet? I was never really a big Ben Fan. He's probably you're up there. Your life is on a line. You have to pick one quarterback. My life is on the line. I got to pick one quarterback to win a game for me last play the game. I probably won't. Rogers. Yeah, exactly. You just answer your own question. That okay. He's the best. I can't put names out there. I'm not. I'm on this. I'm on the side with you, with Rogers. If Rogers had a tight end, Jimmy Graham hasn't done much. No healthy wide receivers MMM, and some form of a running game. I think you can see the packers wouldn't be struggling like the competent head kind had. Maybe I haven't gotten on your bus yet. There, Jimmy, don't let alone get off it. So all right. Well, here's one that give me something. Here's one that that will go against my biases. Shaun Lee. Every year the cow. We say, if only shown Lee was here, if only shown he was hit. He can't say never played a full see. Well, that doesn't make him over a height or overrated. How every year healthy, he's wanted a top linebackers in the and he's lost it. Too many injuries. Well, yeah, he's one one concussion away from retirement. But Um, when the guys on the Field Mane, he's just he's everywhere. You know. He goes sideline, the sideline, he can cover tight end, he can cover running back, he can even cover the occasional wide receiver and he plays to run. Well, he's the signal caller on the defense. So he makes a cab boys. That one better. I'm sign it. I think, unreliable, not underrated or over I didn't over. I'll buy that. Unreliable and and you know in the world of in the work world, wanted a biggest attributes. You can have his reliability, that's ability, is BIL availability. That need to be there and unfortunately, well fortunately for the rest of the division, Shawan Lee hasn't been entirely available his career. But when he's out there, man, he's he's fun to watch, even with the Star on the helmet. I gotta say it. He's fun to watch. He's good. The Cowboys Fan. I'm done with him. I don't know about that. And isn't he another depends data and stay all right, and she got an kingustend stator. I just heard a voice that knows. I hope these are I'm trying to listen to good things about Penn state. Better big we're right in the middle of our segment on overhead players. The voice you hear there, that's Tommy Young are guy from the crack belt crew. He's going to give us a little fantasy hit right here. But folks did know Tommy. I'm not revealing anything. The secrets here dependstate. Tommy's also a giants fan. Oh, living in Eagles Terranto, ended dukey and a dude. Yeah, I have inside information. He's been like that for a long time, a long time, a long time. Yes, sometimes I wish it just happens, but it's not true. Toi while. Hey, Tom I don't know if you're aware, but my nephew was is one of your boys from back in the day. WHO's that? Pat Blom? Get Out of here. Yeah, he's my nephew by marriage. Bud, he is my nephew. Yeah, get out. I had no idea. Yeah, I mean neither until we were talking about it like a month ago, two months ago. Yeah, it is. Little Bit. He tells me. I can see your parents house almost from my backyard because you're on dunks. Probably can. You're on thunksor yeah, yeah, true, Yep, go away, dresses and very now. Not...

...going that phone numbers. It's enough to Ye, before we start talking fantasy too. Tommy obj he's goes overhight. Ob J overheight. Yeah, a little bit right now. He needs to get his priority straight, that's for sure. Yo, came belong to the whole I'm dehydrated. Nonsense when in for an IV. That's that's just trying to keep the media. I don't know. I fact I've fell that gets some medium or into it, but yeah, I try to. There does anyway. Yeah, I didn't mind them making the statement that he made prior I mean the interview suck that like little waynes there with him. That makes no sense. But if he just done that on his own in an interview or whatever, somehow did it with the team, would be fine. But I don't know. Teo Jr right, you know, we know all about that being really he ain't text of the wide receiver divas. Yeah, yeah, now he's got his money, so he could say whatever he wants. True, and that's a shame because it's going to rub off on some of these other guys. He see Sterling Shepherd, he had some words and he was getting all hot on the sidelines the week before. I just don't want that, my love. They got the right guy in the Backfield, though, that's for sure, but should the rookie the one that has to bring him down, calm him down? I know they said he's probably the most mature guy on the team right now. Got Sake. So all right, yeah, rookie being most mature. Who? That's not good. Listen, you can't. You can't say they made the wrong pick. Picking them at too they're going to be picking it too again next year. Yeah, you may be right there. Yeah, the USA took a quarterback. No, I'm glad they took Parkley. Yeah, well, school five society. You think that we has a little bit to do with it? I'M NOT gonna lie. Yeah, you think Eli makes it through the season? Yes, yes, do, just because that's how they are, that's that organization. I mean they're they're loyal. What are you gonna do? Put this kid from Richmond back there? I not. What was he checond third round pick? Well, let right, I think he was fourth last year. The fourth. It's hard for it's hard for teams. It's hard to watch them. They I mean for the first time. You saw them from Sherman, frustrated. Could they want to try to throw the ball down the field? Yeah, it has one more screen. Try to throw all bubble screen to wide. That the death of football, perio's Lee. It's hard for ten times to admit the mistake. Getting back to bench and Eli, I think it's hard for teams to admit a mistake. I don't think that's going to happen. Yeah, you got to stick to your guns. Right, play it out this year and then go on from there. All right, what's the what's the QB class looking like coming out next year from Oklahoma's probably the top dog. Okay, make surely back. Yeah, because I worked out so well less Saturday. Yeah, yeah, he's start on that. That's all other world. That's whole other world. That's a whole other tirade at the whole other show. That's right. And and we're here to talk things. Yeah, it's not for his midget business. We're here to talk famous. So I think this week, week six, week six, Yep. And regular seasons are almost halfway over in most leagues. Thirteen weeks most leagues. The playoffs. Yep. And if you're like me and you play Multiple Leagues, you're probably be doing really well one league and not in another. It's been a bad season for injuries. I have one team. My first three picks were four, net cook and ty Hilton. Wow, it's been killing me. Yeah, you're in trouble. I am, I am, which is why we bring you guys...

...in every week from fantasy fix. Yeah, to help me tell her loves this fix, my flex fix. Your flesh has been a good shape, though, lately, from what I've heard, from what I think it's been all right. It's been all right, but I just have interesting questions every week. So I think I have it again. For what do we got this week? I remember happening this week. I need to out of following for for my flex positions. Cook, the Alvin Cook. Is he going to be back? Is he going to actually start getting the ball bit more? Aaron Jones, who I think we both agree to the other week that Aaron Jones should have a big week and it just didn't play out that way, right. Marquis Goodwin or keeling cold. So out of those four I need to Oh my God, it's my friend. That's why you're good shape, as good safe as you were a few weeks ago. That's for sure all right. So here's a problem. We don't know if Cook's apply it, so we got to wait and see on that. The Arizona cardinals are giving up the most points to running backs and football. So the question is, if you placed, you have them in there, the game gets out of hand, do they pull them? Too many questions there for me. Hmm, Mike, Mike McCarthy refuses to run the ball, which we found out. Yeah, O rejones had six touches. Last week, some would say it got it's through the game flow. And now he's flipplopping and saying that Jamal Williams is a better pass blocker. Three weeks ago Aaron Jones is the better pass blocker. So I don't trust McCarthy. He's like Bella chick with his running backs. Yeah, you just can't. He tries to find a hot hand. You gotta live and die with it, even when bell checked its as hot hand. You don't mind, you and Cole this week I'll be I'll say that basically because no fur net and the jags are more of a pass offense when Yeldon's in there. They're not a line up with double tight ends to run them pound the ball. If I don't hate healing, Cole. And who's your other one? Goodwin? Goodwood Yep from the niners? Yeah, I mean the forty nine. They should get killed on Monday night. which forty throwing the brother they come forcing to have to throw the ball. You know I will. I'll roll the dice. I'll roll the dice and I'll go goodwin and keeling coal because of the possible upside. You got more of a boom chance with those two guys. Dan You do with Cook and Aaronones? Is He rolling the dice? Because it's my team or you? We roll the dice. Sure, team too. No, I mean if you were in my league's different story, but we're not. This is a that's why I would play. All right, they're going in. This is the league that I'm wanting four and so I can't get any worse. Oh well, you got nothing to lose in definitely go this way. Yeah, right, you got a better chance again, twenty points out of those two guys and you do the other two. Yeah, and now I have one more. I don't know if these got one free. Would like I got one more. And didn't. We get another topic I want to talk about. I also have luck and Jamison or James Winston. I'm thinking like this week. Over luck, I'd like to Jamis. Until so I like Winston because of the game. Keep in mind both jets starting corners and starting safety or out. So so maybe look down no tyhill in no Jack Doil. Where's the game? Where's the I think they're tempting in Atlanta. I know the jets games in New York culture at jets seem like yeah,...

I'm not sure. For me, the Falcons are home. The Falcons are home, so you're indoors, no weather and they're horrible time to go. I tend to go no weather, so I would play Winston. Play Winston. I got he's already in the line. I'm just wanted to confirm. Yeah, you can. You got two good options there. Yeah, it's gonna they're both going to throw the all million times. Neither team could run the ball, so that works out nicely for you. Know. All right. You got any questions for that? was just one question. I got free time. I got Aaron Rodgers and overheard. Now we already settled that up on him and I was going to talk about him in the overheight segment. to Go ahead. How's that injury doing with him? From the Chicago Guy Play? Who Else do you have? Anyone else in that league? I think I have luck. I also in four leagues and but this, this team, is doing well for me. I think I'm on the undefeated on with this team. Of course, it's the Free Family League that I'm undefeated in, in the most expensively. That the four hundred sixty league I'm in and I'm one and four always. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so he's getting how he can help you every week. That's what I think. That's where I thought it, because men, he's he's ranked like eleven, and quarterbacks where draft them. You're not getting the return right now, but it's still a rage right, right, and that's why I keep leaving them in, because you look at the you get the updated scores during the course of a game and you know they're losing bad or getting shut out, whatever, and then all of a sudden, at the end of the game he's got like twenty, eight, thirty points each and you're like, well, how did that happen? And it happens and Im and I'm wonder if if the injuries you want to catch up to him eventually or if you know he should be able to make it through the season. I think you'd shake better as the season goes on. I think he's been at his worst. And keep in mind he's on a team that, once again, like I said, McCarty, doesn't run the ball right. Right. So stay with them. Okay, I'll do that. I think I have lock on the as my back up there, but I'm not positive. I'm much good. I would keep locked just in case, he downtown. Yeah, I'm going Sarry. Yeah, don't get rid of them. Yeah, yeah, I had no plans on that. As we get beautiful, getting to the halfway point of the season here and run a little like close on time there. WHO's out there that if you were looking to make a move? WHO's a couple players maybe you would target now to try to trade for in your league? All right, so I'll stay hometown for you. I would try to trade for outstund Jeffrey. He's obviously Carson Wentz his favorite target, and he's obviously shown the last two weeks he's healthy. Yep, during and I would also target he might not actually even be. I you know who I would talk it. I would talk at Chris Carson, and you can probably get him cheap. Seahawks are running the ball more than they're throwing the ball right now and it's going to continue that way. Do you trust Care David? It's an even truffle him more. I normally don't, but I wouldn't hate it if you said Mike Davis is a free agent, I need to pick him up to play in the flex what a couple weeks you you'll be okay. They're they're are two big guns right now, Carson and Jeffrey, I think, and I don't think have to pay a lot to get them. More importantly, I think alshone. You'd probably have to buck up a little bit more to get him, especially just again be where we're at. MMM.

You try not to play with your heart and fantasy, but guys don't want to give up their eagles that they already have them. And I agree with you. Tom He's obviously Carson's favorite target and he is getting healthier. So He's which means to me he's only going to put up bigger numbers as the season goes on. So you might have to pay a little fences. And went is getting healthier, like you guys right in earlier, right now. Yeah, right, yeah, I think I saw something like asson has seventeen touchdowns at last fifteen games. Wow, that's if you want to get a running back to her. If you want to get somebody that's heard, try to get Davonte for Ahman, if you ever in the stass them. HMM. They're going to keep him out until he's healthy. Now I think they're not going to play games and try to bring them back. Yeah, and either. She looks like he's been able to. Yeah, pulls weight. Stash him for the plot, Stassh for the playoffs. Not a bad move. John Brown is another wide out I would try to trade for. If fourteen targets last week in Baltimore. Now he's getting the targets, not just two deep balls. Well, as always. Good until from Tommy and the guys at the cracked bell crew. MMM, you could catch Tommy and the rest of the cracked belt crew on Thursday night to day and then on the US Sunday mornings. Thick or fantasy fix. I'm going to say fixed my flex again. Vanycy fix not always about you. It's not always happy. I am a selfish guy, but you know I try not to make it always about me. You can catch these guys early in the morning, eleven o'clock facebook live, eleven o'clock Sunday morning. will be up, will be ready, get your last minute start sits set up, get ready for the weekend. MMM, beautiful. All Right, Tommy, thank you for giving a few minutes the time. No problem. Talk later. I could luck you, Tom Take care. All right, all right, up on it. But something I've been doing for the last few weeks the king of the hill. Want to get our king of the hill votes out there. So right now. Last week we had mahomes, is the current King of the hill. The options were the officiating in the end of in the NFL. Is that just kind of taken over? Like whenever anybody's talked about the officiating it or talking about the NFL, one of the topics you's always here is how bad the officiating has Biden? Has It just been offense in general, and how good the quarterbacks? I think last week they already passed a broke a record for the most touchdown. New rules favor of the quarterbacks immensely. Yes, they lets. And who else do we have? Last week teller Leveon Bell, I think, was another one, just because of all that squirrel around him coming back and whether he's going to be traded. And so we put the pull out there. My homes got the most votes again, till Mahomes is still on the top of the hill, although he's starting to slow down a little bit. So here's who I present you, gentlemen today. Drew brees. I was going to say that right. Ain't it got the passing record on Monday night, Bild them and won the game. He's gonna be getting this touchdown record soon as well. Next One's five hundred, three hundred sixty three yards and three touchdowns and awesome night. Yeah, yeah, drew breese, the other option. I was thinking of his jared goth another young quarterback having a great season. I don't you don't hear about him as much as you wear with Mahomes, but I think his stature right now we're actually better than mahomes. He might be only like a touchdown off, but thank you already twise, I mean better. My home's just as the crazy receiving cord. Not that the rams are a rams. He's that, but still the Kansas City receiving cords out of this world. Think that's the difference. So the other it's just a rams in general. Yeah, they're five and oh so were the chiefs. Yep, but the rams aren't just handling teams. Ramsay, the scoring differentiation is like seventy five points,...

...where the chiefs it's like forty. Yeah, they rate much better todays. Just going to say the chiefs don't have them as go to defense. You, gentlemen, any of those knocking Patrick mahomes off the I'll see Sunday night. I'll, I'll, I'll going to go drow and to go drew. Yep, he's definitely breeze, very home breeze this week. All right, I'll put the pull up again see what the listeners think and said. Could change after Sunday night. It could. I don't want this week to influence you know. I try to make it's crazy where they were last week between us. I just want to see the chiefs crush the patriots like they did last year opening night already. either. You Andy haters now, not a nay hater, not an Andy Hater. Per set. I know I won't say, Hey, do you root against now? Now, I'm not rooting for him to win a super bowl. It would be nice if they got there. I was of the belief that it was when Andy went, it was the time for him to go. Yeah, he was one of the best coach. Now Franchise story is about four years too late. That's probably a couple years too late. Yeah, it's because, yeah, God, he I think. If you want to throw over a hyped andy read, I think it's all. No, that's true. I think anything. He's hot he's hot for the first month and a half and then, you know, rest of the season. We've seen it. My brother and I have calm back and forth about this several times. He loves Andy Reid, you know. He's like all, by the time he's done he's going to have two hundred plus wins. He's been to how many a fish games and blah, blah, blah, Blah Blah. And I'm like yeah, but pet what does he won? Yeah, you know, he was favored in those in most of those NFC games. Didn't win but one of them, and if the lot in Philly, but kind of a herd under achieved in most of our eyes. Yeah, and he, my brothers of the opinion that if he gets a super bowl win he's gone to the hall of fame. Yeah, that's he gets two hundred wins and he gets his super bowl right. Well, I guess if he gets two hundred wins plus a super bowl when, yeah, he's going to go. But I was never after like ten years or so, I was no longer impressed with Andy Reid. He was a don't get me wrong, he was a good coach. I'm with you from Monday through Saturday. Yeah, Come Game Day, after those first team first fifteen spir it plays. He wasn't he wasn't one to fly by the seat of his pants. He wasn't good with change, he wasn't good with improvisation on the on the play calling. He didn't manage a clock well. He didn't manage his time outs well. And how many times did we see him have to call time out on wanted in those first fifteen plays? It happens routinely and it drove me in saying I'm like, do you already had these plays down? Why do you have to call time out with your first fifteen plays? Yeah, because was the chain of command was, and they would andy and morning wig would talk back and forth and Andy would give the play to morning wig and morning would give the play to to the quarter better way. Well, why do you have to go through that chain of command? Why can't you both have the Yell Card exactly? Why can't it? And he's calling the play anyway. Why does he have to go through morning with just give them the damn play, you know, and take out the middleman and saves yourself five seconds, ten seconds, whatever. He used to drive me nuts with those early time outs in the first quarter. So I mean, for those reasons, I'm I think Andy's overheight. Does he deserve to go on the hall of fame if he gets two hundred plus and a ring? I guess you can't argue that. But I just was never I was never that impressed. I thought he was overhyped after ten years. And you know, and you could argue that he was a product of his division. He got a lot of wins because it at division, yes, you know, but he was able to put a team together, to took care of business to I ask this because my father is always rooting against Andy...

Reid. MMM, I don't know. Kind of wrote me the wrong way. Yeah, I don't. I don't root against them. No, I'm not, damn friend when either. Yeah, if you ask me, in the AFC, my choices of the coaches out there, hmm, I'd be okay with the being Andy repregetting in over some of the other yeah that are out checked. Yes, yeah, but I think Andy also had the benefit of Jim Johnson, Hmm, absolutely, getting him a lot of those wins. Absolutely. Yeah, he never had to weary one down about the defense, not one down, because Jim Johnson had it all and he did. He did very well with it. Oh yeah, yeah, eagles, Chiefs Super Bowl. Here we go. One quick, realick, one question, real quick. Is A J dot, a j dot Jay a giant? He finished as an eagle. Yes, yes, I tend to believe the same. He's due for a contract. He's damn it. That's good analysis. I think he's a fan. I think he's done, especially if we're able to bring in one of these guys they've been talking about for three weeks now. Yeah, and I'd more. I did want to get into that a little bit today. What the running this next time? Don't worry about it. Will still be a thing next yeah, so that you can make everything this week. So, yeah, all right, there's another one in the books. Thanks for checking US out again. We are the sand of boot first podcast follows on twitter as saying the boot first and we will see you next week. Thank you. See You.
