Episode 52 ‘Trusting the Process of Unfortunate events’

The morning. Sports fans, you will tune into another episode of the Sandumboo first podcast. This is Jim Marcus, one of your hosts, this morning in the room with me, the magnificent Martin's D Dj. Morning, gentlemen, morning, good morning, James, we got behind the glass, producer of the stars, tk down. We're using government names. James Jake. Sure, okay, I see what you did there. I see what you did there. All Right, I'm getting into what this is. This is going to be a different show for us today. We're usually really football focused, but today I got this. I'll put give some credit to my buddy Josh, just you till I work with, who. I tried to get him to come in with us today but he couldn't make it. We're going to talk about the process and I title this se Sixers and a series of unfortunate events. So whether you're a process truth or believer or not, we might get into that a little bit. But I just want to talk about this team and just some of the really strange shit that's going on around this team. MMM, since the process. MMM. So I got notes. I'm here to maybe not mediate but agitate, because I'd know just looking across the table here. I know you two have strong feelings on the process and how it should have made handled. We Know Tk's huge sixers fan, so I'm just going to kind of poke you guys and see how this goes. Before we get started, though, I think we I'm going to spend two minutes on football for last weekend, two topics we got to talk about. We talked about it all season. The Pro Bowl, the fist hip. Who You got those good time? Worth the seth? North or sound? I know, AFEC, I know. Come on, that game went out a long time ago. They still played in the south. The college game? Yeah, I think they did today. Yeah, wow, and Alabama. Yes, yeah, Duday, wow. Yeah, they do it that the week after the National Championship. HMM, okay. Then you get the East West shriners game. MMM, got it all covered. MMM, enough. For Got All Star Games. Yeah, we've said it many times this season. Officiating is horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible. It couldn't have happened to Anici, your team. I'm so glad that the saints lost. They didn't lose on that. So suck it up, St Fade. Really didn't. It was a bad call your hall of fame quarterback through a shitty interception and over time you do kick the field goal from the goal line, like yeah, yeah, you couldn't get it in on on the one yard line there. So whatever, I'm just that SMUG team. I'm glad they lost. I think the rams actually have a shot at the Patriots. N No, I don't think so. What the people say about the Eagles last year? Yeah, you're right, but I think Brady just is just on. Our mission is shred. He's just going to Shrede that defensive part. Yeah, we get in the same talk, girly, exactly. Yeah, what that's I think. I don't know what happened in that really is secret. Really is they only go as far as he goes. Really, YEP, Yep. And he put he took the blame on himself. I don't know if you cut any of like the postgame interviews. He just said I wasn't playing right. Yeah, I just was. And Fine, I thought they're gonna lose that halftime because how like no production was coming out of him. And Yeah, I just don't think Jarek costs that good, though. either. I don't think he can really take over a game. Some of this passes are either high low and, you know, behind the receiver and I just don't think he's good enough to take over a game. And now he's playing in the biggest game of his life and it might be too much...

...for him to handle. So I don't think he has some experience. It's not like your biscy thin, I thought the best shot, because he even experienced. Yeah, team has some experience. Uh, I just I don't. I just I think, and I think I'm going to sit it in in a text to you guys, like I think we stole bradies magic left here. I know he's played well for these playoffs, but I would not be surprised to see the rams win. If I'm put like last week, if I have to put money on it, I'd probably put my money on the page set. It's probably safe for bet. But your favorite by two right now, yeah, which is essentially a pick. And to go along with your point about steal on their magic last year, they had some help along from from the rest this year to get in. So that you know, maybe we did, maybe we didn't, but you know, we'll say. I think I was saying all year that the saints were on a mission from last year to prove that was a fluke and they were on that mission until they're still on until that. Yeah, they are still on. It is about our fact, just on a different path. Yeah, but I you know, maybe the maybe I've misread the patriots. Maybe they're on a mission also to show that kid of me, the backup quarterback, beat us and they beat us with that trick play. Nah, will you know? We'll see in February. So maybe the Patriots are on that mission also and they just happened to be on the better side of the referee calls. All right, I think last week was interesting too, because it showed that the Saints Fan base is actually softer than the Viking fan base. Like it. There rain, you getting in on the civil suit. The try to that's a joke class actually. I saw that on TV last night and I was just cracking off at that. That was a real thing, like in an actual courtroom. I was like wow, yeah, better than that. New Orleans, right, yeah, come on, yeah, you got you got plenty down into distraction and easier pain. Yeah, get a right. In Asola, you got nothing but cold and ICE. I think where they'll continue to be bitter and UNNALD's to walk through the void. Yeah, yeah. I then the other topic, which I really don't want to give more than a minute too, because this guy's gotten much more publicity than he should have this past week. That article about Carson and being selfish and all that BS. All I want to say is the guy and he was on here with Johnny and Frankie on the two, on my five show. He was everywhere five live. Yeah, he's everywhere. He was. But I want to throw out some prop star wildfire compatriots here. He's a boxing promoter. He's a promoter for a dead sport, at dying sport that the only way that's work gets over is promotion in the shit that happens outside of the ring. MMM. He's trying to make a story and you know what Kudo's did him. He got some publicity this week for it, but I think it was a bullshit story. You saw all the team leaders that came out and supported Carson and he's our guy and so I don't really feel like we need to address it at less what you says been talking with death. Yeah, sure, I think some of it might be true. It's emphasized, yes, but I still think there's some little pieces of truth that are there's in that article. There's four of us here right now. Yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of de so you know it's going to happen in a room. It's I think it requis on. Oh Shit, I thought I covered it now, but you have how you getting home tonight? It's a long walk over that bridge. Did seventy five people on a roster right? Is What it is. Yeah, there's going to be guys in there. They sure. I'm the sure string tight end. I get three plays a game in cause it look at me, those three plays. Hmm, he's selfish. MMMM. It's it's a absolute certainty that when you have that many people in an organization that there are going to be some personalities that just don't get along for whatever reason. You know, it's an absolute certainty and it's the job of the coaches to keep that all melded together in one unit as best they can, you know, to focus the team on the goal of winning games.

And the best coaches are able to do it and they stick around in the coaches that can't usually don't, because then that sort of thing takes over the team and team gets divided. Don't want not, but and you listen to some some football players talk, especially older ones, and they always say there are two locker rooms in a locker room. There's the defensive locker room and it is the offensive locker room and never the two shall meet. I don't know that's still like that these days, but it was for, you know, forever in football locker rooms. So those things come into play. They're human beings in that locker room. They're not robots. You can't program them to do what you want them to do. They're going to behave the way they're going to behave. It's just a matter of how much you keep a lid on it and how you're you know what you need to do to keep your focus on winning games and it's just impossible to keep everybody happy. And I don't think there's a ton of truth. There might be a nugget or two here and there. The best thing that there was should try and keep it in house and patch men fences in house and don't let it come out. That's Chris Long was making comments along that line. Yeah, this is the stuff. If there is issues with players, we try to keep that in the locker room? Sure. So if there is a source, and for those listening of doing air quotes that sort, should have kept it in a locker room. And Hmm, you know, that's not the type of team and I want somebody goes and runs them out to the room. And who's to say a source? Now he did say players. He quoted six players, but other team sources. WHO's to say these sources are not guys that are friends of these players? And there were? Presentation wasn't great? Yeah, the article? Yeah, yeah, and you know it's I doubt Doug Peterson's going to be saying anything or some assistant coach is going to be saying you know, you're not going to get some front office guy saying stuff about what's going on in the locker room. So who exactly are these team, team sources, other than the players that he not that he listed him by name, but he listed six players that he had making quotes. So you got to take all these things in the consideration and consider a sources. They say, yeah, just let next year do all the talking and that's what we'll see. Yeah, all right, that's it. Those are the previews. Now we're getting to the mean. The main feature here. AFC away by seven. Yeah, that the that the line, a line on the Prom Oh, yeah, it's got of it. There's some low life put money on that. One general will gamble on. Move from the general. Let us know, SI man. All right, so we're going to talk sixers now and there's so much to talk about, but let's go. Let's go to the beginning, when the process all started with one SAM. Thinky, HMM. Sam was brought in two thousand and thirteen. Two Thousand and Thirteen Sam was brought into kind of maybe not right the ship, but blow the ship up and art rebuilding the sets more like, after a decade of being the eighth seed. Yeah, being, yes, just wallowing in mediocrity. And it's true in the NBA, the only way to get around it is get a superstar or multiple superstars. Yeah, multiple. So that's what Henky was brought in to do and he did and okay, job at it. And this is this is where I'm going to look to you, guys. So the process. Has the process worked? And did did he can get a roll deal? Well, as far as bringing in stars, you know, they drafted rookie of the year, his mind, his name escapes me right now and see that. You'll everyone, Michael Carter will, that was pretty think you though right now now was what was his first I think that was his first rap. Yeah, wasn't it? Yeah, so you know they were here. Know his his first draft was the Noel and then trading Juhada in two thousand and thirteen. Right, he, he.

What he did was what did they call future assets? Draft picks? That all about? It was at all about acquiring future picks and trying to get stars that way. I don't value. So what's that that said? Yeah, getting value. Yeah, he wasn't so interested in bringing in free agent all stars. I don't think that was his Mo. I think his Mo was acquiring draft picks, using those draft picks to get up, you know, trade up into the draft or maybe to trade for an Allstar, you know whatever late. But I think, yes, yeah, Bill, the core, I think he was. Yes, he was looking to build through the draft and maybe patch a hole here and there with a with a trade or a free agent. I got out a whole patch names. You if you want me to go through them later. Sure, some of the guys wouldn't kind of leaky. Oh Yeah, some wonderful names like Danny granger and kJ McDonald. At wait, let me name some you want. You want to fire off a few, and this is what we're gonna do this whole show. We're just going to bounce our so is in. It was just the players. I got tell her I got six columns of six columns ubpar players. Henry Sims, yeah, you. Oh, that's Hollis Thompson, check, Lavoy, Allen boy. Yeah, that's a good one there. Oh, the A, the star of the process, Tony Rodan. Yeah, did you know we had to fur canes? Yeah, for Alamir. Yeah, so court. Yeah, wow, wait, was out of mere the guy from organ they drafted. He got me. These are big, man, I think. Yeah, that's some of these thing, man. Some of these teams never actually played a minute, but we had had rights overseas. One bind them, but he was pretty processed. Yeah, that's what started after he was gone. Started Spencer halls and right, JR A K forty seven, Marie states, Glen Roycurl Goo, wow, country go. Yeah, forgot about him. Helly, you know your process, develop McGee? Yeah, right, Jakar Samson, Oh, Jakar, swaggy pee. No, that was pretty free. That was pretty process. Yeah, Damn, Sergio Rodriguez, Sergio Alexey, Alexey's Fed, fed Jesus. Yeah, I mean there's there's plenty of them on. We Watch these guys. We Watch oh yeah, we had eighty to go to these games to go watch these guys. So that's that's one of my questions. If you were a season ticket holder, it had to be tough to go through that. Sure, and they didn't raise the prices during that three years of straight tanky. Three. Well, yeah, we analyzed that. Yesterday pushes five. We three years. It just straight ten. Yeah, we're going three. They lost one thousand, nine hundred and eighteen ten. It's the only time I could get into the lower sections. Right, take my place one of my nephew. Do we gain like fifty bucks for the three is we had decency. It quick story. Friend of mine, Tommy White, he he actually bought two rows of seats in the upper upper levels for like twelve bucks. Yeah, who entire rows of seats for twelve bucks just because he could? That was crazy. Yes, and it was the the franchise didn't come right out and say, yes, we're tanky, but they didn't make any like there were other teams. The Lakers weren't well good during that stretch. I think that's what people had an issue with. Yeah, so did you. People were pissed off. It's kind of like I'm stealing from you if I'm not telling you, but the sixers like no, I'm taking I'm taking this senodal from you. I don't done a lot. Let you watch me doing right now. You could tell the league was pissed off. Yeah, that lead. They send a letter to the to the sixers. They sent a letter to the whole league. I thought that you shouldn't know. Was it to the whole way? You can't just permt like purposely lose games,...

...like yeah, try to win. Yeah, to show some and then the spurs said David Robinson and yeah, ninety seven again, Tim Duncan, yeah, yeah, that's right. And then you had teams come out, like Milwaukee and their press conference the one time, saying we don't care about we don't care about processes, we watch the results and yeah, stuff like that. So teams are thrown and shade at the sixers and stuff. They want to guess they were, and I hate to say, but the Celtics proved that you can do it without tanking. Well, they got astronaumical trade. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the guard. YEA, the sixers. They know the fully tank the way to sixers. Did I mean, if you want to win in today's MBA, you have to do with the sixers. Did they laid out the bullueprint? For sure. Yeah, I you have to tell you have to tank for these draft picks. Yes, stars coming into the MD. They did Manson. Well, they got rid of there at all. Stars before when you have steep decline? Yeah, when you think about it, in the in the when they first made that playoff run with Iguodala and drew holiday, those were the stars pretty much. And look at them now. You know they're a one of them has a couple rings and yeah, well, it's a finals MVP. Yeah, but I'm saying like we relied on those guys to carry us through the playoffs and they're not even the best players on their teams, but they were our guys. And I mean I if you're the original question was do you think the process worked? And if you ask me, I'm going to say not yet, because the whole process was to get a championship and they're not at that point yet, but I think they're on the way. They're with the team they have now and I think they're going to make more moves this season and, of course, this offseason. I think they make more moves. But the thing that bothers me the most with the process is that I think they had four or five years of top three picks, top five picks, and as of now, only two of those picks have actually panned out. With Ben Simmons and and bead. YEA, they traded them, they traded yeah, but I'm so spect. I'm just saying, like we got had nearland's jaw and fall. See, that's and MCW and two of those have actually pinned out. Yeah, just frustrating because you have five years of top five picks and only get to right. It shows why he was trying to get all his assets, because it's hard to meal this. Yeah, the more chances you have a lottery, the better chance actually finding guys that will pan out. That's that's to me. The most frustrating thing is that two of them actually worked out, but well, hard it is. It goes to show you how difficult it is to judge talent. Not only judge talent, but judge talent that will transfer from the college level to the yeah, yeah, I mean you look at it now, Sham, it's turning out to be a better pick than folds. Yeah, Oh, yeah, by far. Yeah, by far. One of the topics on here's the the rookie injury curse. Yeah, we'll get to that. Well, that's kind of self inflicted to because they pick guys that have that's part of Hadz, had the option not been Simon. Well, we don't get em beat unless he's injured. That's true. Absolutely. Well, first I want to stick on the process and piece of it. First, to me, the process. I thought it ended with Jimmy Butler, right, as we said. Wasn't the goal to get that nucleus, that two were maybe three players they build the team run, that would attract the big free agent? You know it was. It was Lebron this offseason. We're gonna get Lebron, we're gonna get the brawn whether that was that's like Harper, he's a hard shot out here, right. But now Jimmy Butler, he's he was a top player in the league, right, so he's in here. So down we got our big three. Is the process done? Where is the process? To Dj, you said it's it's the championship. I think that would be their end goal is to get the championship with the guys they drafted and, like you just said, the big player they got in a trader signing, and that's what they have right now and hopefully the end goal is a championship. I think it worked because you have two generational plagues. Yeah, I...

...agree that that's we're not in that way to yeah, like if you if you want to look back at history and what are the best prospects that the sixers have had since I or seers and then post and then before I orson, like spoon, they come on. We're going back to deek's heres with that. Yeah, answer. That's what he's here for. Billy Cunningham, was the man really see kangaroo kid out of North Carolina? No, but seriously, like there hasn't been like a generational player coming through here like in decades besides. Yeah, Allen. Yeah, so for you, the tower is the process is yes, yeah, you got you to two of these generational guys. You think it works, but I'm saying, is it over? Is it done. I mean that's kind of like up for debate, like what that actually reasons? Over, though. Yeah, I mean you could keep saying this is a process and, yeah, we could be saying this until we're deeks. A Jill might be gone, because he's the one that started. It really was, and beach drift, because he was that first pickle. He is first topic. Yeah, is the pros exactly. So, I mean I think you could keep saying it's a process until whenever and bead retires or leaves. Okay, so, so it's a consensus that it's over. Or I think what the original question, I believe, was did it work? Right, I need to pop the break. I think Jim's original question was did it work? Question was did it work? Is it working? I had now I think it works. It's done. Yeah, I think it worked. I think it is working, but I don't think it'll ever be done, because you could I mean it's and be like he's the process, what we built around. It's so it's this. The more I think, are we at the new orm we now? I think I think there's a you got to use a different word than done. How about did you accomplish what you set out for exactly. Yeah, okay, and I think what you're trying to accomplish is a title, and until they accomplish a title, I don't think it's fully you know, come of age, matured, whatever you wanted, whatever, however you want to freeze it process, comple did it work? It worked in acquiring players, but it hasn't worked yet in the end goal of getting a championship. And these guys are not even twenty four yet. So there's there's a lot of window letters. I agree. Yeah, and you know, we need to we need to you know, do we have enough players? Do we have the right mix of players? Do we have the right role players? Do we have the right coaches in place? All that has to be addressed, you know, until they win a championship, championship, all that needs to be addressed may be questioned, you know, in there might be somewhere down the line, like say in the next two or three years, if there's no progress as far as getting to it, the championship round, our coach is going to be fired, our GM's going to be fired. You know that that there's those are things that we have to take into consideration because I feel that if they don't get to that point where there is a parade down broad street or up broad street, as it was last year. If there isn't that parade, then yeah, those guys are going to have to be held accountable and let go and, you know, maybe not start over, but find some replacements fresh process. The Big Golf season will be when Ben Simmons is a free agent, because if you can't get him to stay here, then that's a huge loss, because now it's back on him beach shoulders and he needs all the help he can get. Is He can't do it all himself. He's Trus. He's not a free agent tissue, is he, Ben? I think he's two years yet to your sears. Yeah, now flank...

...keeps bringing up that they're going to make another move. They're not done yet. They're going to make a move at the season. Yes, well, it's going to be time. He's just seems nothing, nothing to turn the team over, but I'm sure there's some kind of deal. Well, here's the here's another topic. Yeah, Jimmy Butler. Yeah, do you turn around and Trade Jimmy Butler? If I'm getting something valuable back, you can. I don't want it. I'M NOT gonna get value with training a guy twice in the middle of the season and value. Yeah, yes, you're not. And look what you gave up to get him. You know, then you're tossing those two guys away. Trade is still fine. That, yeah, that's right. Yeah, like at the end of the day when he was at it, trade, it was a good I don't Miss Rowco too much, but Darry oh, I miss a little bit. Now you don't Sario. What I think? I would say Covington over Darry over, and I know, well, yeah, but you have had some lays on this team. that. Yeah, yes, on the defensive side, yes, but you have guys on the seam. I could easily take Roko spot like sham it stepping in Reddick. I missed Ario because now it shows how bad Wilson, Chandler and Mike miscal are, because I think those are Dario's rolls. They had me nothing. Moose Lis since been shown up wills and yeah, he's been hot a little bit lately. He'sn't. He hasn't let that postal. He's getting healthy now. He's no corey brower. Yeah, like Corey Brewery. He's see, he's a nice little side. I love him. So I like his energy and everything he's bringing. I say that jokingly, but you see what they did without Butler. So if a contender comes and says we'll bring in Jimmy, and if it's true that, I don't know how much I believe about Jimmy being a bad guy in the locker room. And Look, he's a veteran player. He should be able to say something to his coach and talk with his coach and give his input. I've heard. I've heard things that the coach isn't quite managing the players well together. I don't think that's gonna help his attitude. I don't think it's as bad as people are putting it, but yeah, coach Brown isn't really managing all those egoes too well. So there is coach Brown on the ounce, is Jimmy on the outs or they just going to try to buy if you expect them to sign Jimmy to a long term deal in the season? If I were in charge, I would probably have to kick coach Brown out. Yeah, and I'll like doing that because I felt like he's been the scapegoat for the team not playing well by fans for like the past three years. But I mean at this point you have these three guys and he haven't really figured out like the cohesive offense yet. It's like, come on, by now he should have to have something figured out exactly. To add onto Taylor's point with this starting five, when Butler, when all their when all of them are healthy, there's no reason to starting five going to make it to the Eastern Conference finals, if not the finals, and I think that falls back on prep round not being able to put it together. But when Brett Brown was hired, I loved the hire. I loved, you know, where he came from. I loved his resume, going abroad, coaching abroad, all those different things. You know, he was thirteen years with San Antonio and I thought the signing was a great or hiring was a great hiring. I thought he was a perfect fit for this type of team that developed a team in this and that and and also players. And he's done that to a point and he started to get a lot of heat through the midway point of the tanking and I'm like, you know, we got to give this guy fair shot. He's had nothing but easy target. Yeah, he's had nothing but d league guys for a couple years now. You give you tea. Yeah, right, well, whatever. Give them a chance to get some players that can actually play and then give him two to three years, maybe four years, with them to see what he can accomplish with them. Now he's in the middle that, he's in the middle of that two to four year stretch of having players and let's see what he can do...

...with that. They made the playoffs, so that you know they won fifty plus games last year. made the playoffs. One around, he needs to at least advanced to the second round this year or two third, I guess that conference. He needs to win the second round this year. He's got a show progress move on to another rounds because is as much as I love the hiring in the beginning it, he might be have to, have to be the one to go because he's not showing that ability to take them over the over the top, and I hate to say that because I liked I like bright brown a lot from the beginning. Okay, that's that's process talking. Now we want to get into the stories around here. Already half an hour in and I got through a third of my note to my page. So we mentioned earlier that the leak sent around letters and Blah, blah, blah, and whether the league pushed or not to bring in the COLANGELO's Hanky's out. The hinky manifesto comes about, and then it's just odd things, cowards happening. Do you think it was Cowardis One? I think you side. No, yeah, management something. Okay, I come on. Yeah, all right, so he's out. Think he's going. Now we're going to start talking to some of the Chilio Okra for its my first point of contention. He comes in here, Jimmie, it was soft, and then he brought all these other issues with them. Speeding on the bridge, fights in Boston. They had to get him his own personal guard. Do you remember the persis reports? Is Agent went meet with the sixers at all. Wow. So that was originally supposed to be the pick. Wow, which makes sense because I mean he ki went for upside and potential and he loved the farm players, and I mean I don't. I think we all knew that wasn't much more dead OAKFORD's game. Yeah, anyway, it was getting the championship for Duke. There you go. Judge and talent. What transfers from the college to the pro level. And now is he's still with the nets. Now he's on the PALICANS. Traded again until Calicans. Wow, yeah, three teams in how many years? He asked for a trade. Buis here. Nobody was really interested. Now wanted to be basically sat for a season. So another rookie have got injured halfway through his season. It started out with what was it? A wrist or no Shin conclusion, that all of a sudden turned into we had a meniscus Taran and they said him the rest of the season. And then he gets asked for the trade, gets benched and we end up getting Trevor Books stadd yelled at a couple people. Yeah, that's right. The Guy can score a little bit. It's just the rest of his game that lacks. He is most definitely can rebounds and he doesn't play defense. No, rest of his game is is lacking and he is soft. But he can score a little bit, but he's a liability on the other end. So absolutely so. Every every point he scores he's given up. Yeah, two or three others. Yeah, all right. Any other thoughts on Julio? He has he's got his own little topic there. He's yeah, now it's talking about the rookies and we mentioned the rookie injury curse. So five straight years we had a rookie with this infinite significant injury. They drafted nerlands injured. HMM. They drafted at meade, injured the here, fractured foot. Simmons Foot faults with whatever mean I could. Yeah, laneous, soul, fast man outlet, syndrome, mental. Just put mental for mental. He's coming back, though. Yeah, that's what they're saying. Well, Simmons. Simmons was set to plays rookie year until he broke his foot. Rightly broken in practice. He wants to going to sit out. He was out injured going into the scene. He until the last a prey of straight. Ye, any that he broke his foot. I was the same as I hear that you're from and right summerally Grad. Forgot about him. Yeah, he, I think he just is...

...set to return to yeah, he might compay. Yeah, for faults. Yeah, ironically enough, him and they just activate a patent to the guy they got in a treat with Butler. Yeah, so expect anything in him. Pat Another body now, just yeah, yeah, just another body that was to make the contracts match. Yeah, so that while these players are injured, some of these players, you got the stories around them. What they're doing. They're rehabbing. Marylands was seen out playing laser tag. Joe Jo's shirtless on stage with Meek Mill. Oh God forbid, he has some fun. Yeah, that got overblown a little. This is these are just this story round this team. Well, just makes this team interesting. Well, yeah, what was he right? Dancing on stage, right, he was. Yeah, like the beginning of the stage part, just shirt off, dancing with the crowd on a Oh yeah, that that Nyeah, he can have fun, teller, just don't do anything that's going to frisk injury. He's twenty two, twenty three years old at the time. I know you're not going to do that, sure, but also going to you're not back in my mind. I got it MULTIPLA dollar centrack. No, he's young. You were stupid one snow I stopped being stupid at seventh he telling yourself that if everybody didn't have a camera in their pocket, we wouldn't know this happens. Jesus, thank God there were none back in the S and S to deks. Okay, with the dancing on stage deal, that was weird. Good with the dancing on the stage. Just don't do anything that might further. You know it's not. He he very well knew what he was doing. Okay, he knows. There's kids, there's people, there were at phones and cameras are gonna Right, right, right, like he's just having fun. He's a kid, he's age and it wasn't a foot or knee injury. So you don't have to worry about that. Okay, that could hurt it back, Danson. Yeah, well, I don't want him bodysurfing, you know, fallen, he was it. Yeah, all right, keeping it on the injury front. So faults of shoulder. He's got this trainer, Dad, his first one, Keith Williams. It was helping him with his shot. Apparently that didn't work. NOPE, cans him. Then he gets the new trainer, drew Hanlin. Everything's great, summer all he's back. Look at this, he's got his shot, came in, played a few games. Wow, he looks great. And something went off the rails again, double clutching on foul shots. And then what's even more interesting to me is when and bead broke his face on F yeah, broken shoulder. It just goes to show the injury curse that this team has. Your Star player, yeah, breaks his face on your upcoming stars. Yeah, broken shoulder, yeah, get still better than that. Nope. Yeah, that that was that was comical. I mean that's just the best way to describe that whole situation. I didn't see the game when it happened, but that I saw it later on and I just started cracking. I'm like, you got to be kidding me, man. I mean what, what's where's the black cloud over the Wells Fargo shot up? What's going on with this guy? And you know, luckily it didn't affect the team that much. You know, they were able to power through it. How long was in beat out with that broken face? Like a mom he was at that was the end to get surgery? Yeah. Yeah, and the concussion. Yeah, it was a broken eye socket, wasn't it? Which is it was? Hey, it was rape before the playoffs too, and everybody was one, even in the playoff. Yeah, it's the third game again and everyone was freaking out, like all he's done for the playoffs now, and but he came back. But yeah, and where? You know, they couldn't get the mask right. Yeah, could get the mask right round it all. Yeah, Yep, God. And then one or two of people were more people taking shots at the mass story game. Who is the heat player stepped on it? Oh yeah, yeah, grounded into the ground. Jog. It's that. I know, celinic. Was it all because...

...everyone hates alenic? Yeah, Kelly, I meant it might have been a Linic, but one of them stepped on it and everyone freaked out about a dirty player like stepping on his mask. It's the only way they can stop them and stuff. Folks. Folds is a headache, though. Yeah, you could spend a whole show on faults and all his stuff. I mean it's why we're here. Yeah, I don't know what's going on that dude. And then he shows up and sits on the bench having a great time and people start getting made like they don't like this. He realize what he's doing? I forget who said it, but this guy pointed out whenever Marquel's not a Jersey and on the floor looks like it's to having the time, it is like yeah, it's true, let's he puts that Jersey on him just playing basketball. He looks miserable. Now he went to La to get his shoulder worked on. Exactly how long did he spend in La? It was he just got back like a couple weeks ago and he was there. You sure about that, because I remember seeing him on the bench. Yeah, he was on the bench. He just I think he just got back to the bench two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, all right, I thought he would report it back to I thought he was on the bench earlier than that. It might have been into the new year. Okay, that he that he was into El, that he was in La and I hope he saw one of those high price shrinks while he was out there in la, because that's what he really needs done. So you think it's purely mental? Yes, you're not. Believe in this feels maybe less. Maybe he has some sort of issue with his shoulder, but most of what's going on with this kid is above his shoulders, not in his shoulder. But I seen numerous things on twitter where people would take pictures of his shoulder alignments when he was going to shoot and it was off, like you could tell when, as a regular shot in college, it was nice. It was above his head and all when he was shooting the NBA, his shoulder look like like slouched a little and he was like down here releasing it. So it did look like it was actually serious and hopefully, now that they found out what this problem was, they can treat it right and, you know, maybe it's back to normal and we'll see what happens. Maybe he's back like he was in college, but who knows. I don't know what folks you expect him back to season? Yes, Taylor, I don't know. I think I really don't. I think you have to do it because if he doesn't play the season, fans are going to just tell his front office like get rid of the dude. I have ever in you with that, because I was can say I think the fans this point with him, we're just kind of like whatever, dude, right, like, I mean a lot of we've wasted a pick one. Yeah, I think a lot of people just want to see now, though, if with the diagnosis that right. Let's see what he can do now, like did he get it treated and is he going to be this star? Is he going to love up to the number one overall pick? I think fans want to finally see it. My thing with him coming back later, if they're rolling and they're really playing well. The chemistry is food out. Yes, they got it all figured out. They got the rotation down. Why? No, brow that, I know. Why throw that best into the mix? Because no, no, I I vote sitting him for the rest of the see them season, whether he's healed or not, be and try and come back fresh next year. You could have a one more shot next remember last year they went on like a eighteen game winning streak, was it? Yeah, with class out the season without and beat for well, yeah, so, and then they brought him back and everybody was like, Oh, you know, I don't know, like but it worked out fine. So, I mean, what if they do that with folks? I think preseat pretty playoffs. If we're sitting pretty and there's no chance of movement anywhere and and he is healthy, like a de lay season. They brought it me and it was weird how they handle him in the playoffs last year. Yeah, played a couple games, had decent games, not great, but then I guess they just figured out he looked like a dear defensive liability. Let's get him out of there. And he didn't play the rest of the playoffs. But that to me. You you called him a kid. Dec He's still kid. Yes,...

...it was his money. Show word conseldence. Second, to shake your confidence for a kid that you already think is not fully confident himself mentally. Does that help? To keep bouncing him back and forth? I think you can find minutes for him on this team this year. Not Significant minutes this year. Yeah, the end of the season. If he said yeah, maybe, maybe, in this scenario they have a seed locked up. Can't, can't go over or below. They got, you know, a handful of games left. Bring them in, see what he does, get his feet on their own. If he fits in, fine, if he doesn't, then you know the bench always gets short in the playoffs anyway. So maybe he just gets shortened up on the bench or he shows something where he shows some more and he can contribute absolutely like a corey or what's his name, brewer, Bro Ory brewer, when in the playoffs last year, when TJ McConnell is getting more minutes than him, I think that really affected him. Yeah, that's I think that was a mental thing with him because, yeah, I mean it's TJ McConnell, like we all love, like I loved Jim Coon. Look at your busted on Moose Ner, PJ. I love him, said I I'm the biggest. I loved j McConnell. I love the way he plays, but let's face it, he is he's not that good. He's he's a spark. He's Yes, I think he brings an energy in a hustle. But and when you know at a you know, a basketball IQ mores or away, more white guy terms. Yeah, yes, yes, he'd be the first that's would not play. Get Katy work. That's what he wors it. You know any any hits that shot from me y'all bow. He can finish. He has an uncanny knack of finishing. When he shout, you know he's only six to or whatever, but when he looks bad, when he actually comes out like and like, when he shows what he really is, he looks bad. Yeah, he looks you can't leave them on the floor for fifteen minutes at a times. What I'm saying, you know, you give them six, seven, eight minutes and you get them off before you know. On those on, on does everything, and he just did. Yeah, all right. Should we move on to yes, yeah, move on to Brian Colangelo and the burner accounts and his and his wife, babs, babs. It's like that was decades able team. You're right, tailer really does. It was a er junior, Eric Jr. Here. I got some I got the names. Is Eric Jr honest, Abe enough, known enough, unknown sources still bawling, and Philly one, two, three, four, five six seven. So like how they didn't try with that last one. Yeah, and that's the one that was one of the more active life. Think that's the one that he owned up to. That's the one he said, yes, that's mine. I have that to just Eric Junior was found ours right there. Junior are junior was the most vocal one. Yeah, Eric Junior and enough unknown sources were the ones that posted the most. The philly want two, three, four, five, six seven. Coll Angelo owned up to that one. said that was his so he could follow media types and other players and blah, blah, blah. The one I think they're trying to save. Wait a bit, his son, because it filed like a bunch of his old it's all inside coach. He's all. Ultimately, the wife. She took one for the team. Yeah, she said they well, it was all me. Yeah, look, ter source is the guy. She's laying down with at night, little pillow Yalk. I can't believe the shoulder things acting up against. Yes, all, yeah, all right, it's all on his head. And then to a couple days later, God damn it, we had job traded. He found the physical couple tweets later. Wren't you. It's job about how he what if he passed that physical? Why Treaty to go through? MMM, and this is the guy at the League wanted to put in place, not this is the guy. I think it was more than I was, more of his dad. That was just going to get to his dad. I was just going to get the Jerry, Jerry. Jerry has been voted executive over the year once or twice for you...

...know the job he did, I think, with the nets. You know, one other stop he was at. So Jerry noses, noses bad. Yeah, he knows. We hadn't. Let's say basketball. What's that head of you is save ass Yees, he's well, he yeah, he's absolutely well respected. The day they brought in Brian I was I was I felt a little queasy about doing that because I hate when you know son's kind of like get a job because of dad and in that in that prominent of a role. It. You know that it's just reeks of Nepotis and nepotism. We have sy experienced it. Did Eric did? He did, but he doesn't have the pedigree that that Jerry does. It in Eric Spolsure get that head coaching job because it was dead. I don't know. Well, no, it's he was a video coordinator. He worked his way up. Oh, I thought, something with his family or something. Okay, and so you know the wholt that hold and the prodde. I think I'm not the problem with the issue with Jerry was he was in his mid s by the time the sixers hired them. Yeah, and maybe his better days were behind them. Didn't have the energy or whatever you want to say. So he ends up bringing in his son, Brian and I, and I just had it from its say more on the optics of it, weren't yeah, good from day one I just felt queasy about the whole the whole deal, and damned if it didn't work out. That that's just that's just so unprofessional, though. Absolutely it's completely like your joke, dude, that you're this gem of this professional basketball team and you have to have fake accounts to try to defend yourself and and all this stuff you do. And and I'm sure the lash it self confidence. Yeah, I'm sure Jerry was beyond embarrassed about what happened and and I'm sure behind closed doors he's like, what do you do it? You just ruined our whole family name and reputation and it made it made the organization look like a joke. Yes, danced. It was right in the middle, for didn't say yeah, see. So, yes, yes, and that's definitely had an effect on Lebron and other names, for sure. Yeah. So just run through a real quick in case there's any listeners that don't know some of the details of it. So this ringing report comes out. They got anonymous tips that these twitter accounts maybe connected to the sixers in some way. They call the sixers and asked them about it. sixers own up to the one that clan Angelo, but before they even called the ringer back, that the regularly gave them to of the accounts, they knew they were five. They gave them too, before they even called the ringer back to acknowledge. The other three went silent. They went dead. They would private so nobody could see what was out there at anymore. So somebody in that building knew whoever it was that was running those twitter accounts, you know. And there's they criticized players, a question coaching staff and GM the they talked about the trade for the number one pick, for faults, like they can foreshadowed it and then it ended up happening. The non public medical information was pauled put out there. So there's all kinds of stuff that you clearly points back to the team. Colangelo, denied, denied, denied, denied. Tony, maybe it's my wife and to this day he I think he still denies. Other than that one it was his wife. HMM. So the one I think some of the the most damning ones were, or the ones that I got the most joy out of, was where they would rip on his collars. Yeah, yeah, and BC, big college, Brian Klang, and the one that kind of lives on now. Yeah, had saw it off through social media after it was that's a normal collar. Move on, find a new slang. So the new slank just kind of was added to this whole process. Lingo, right, find a new slant. And then you had Eric Jr, the one. It was the most vocal talked about I set next to you at the Olympic Games and you...

...and D wait, I sat next to you. They were something about he wouldn't buy kids slice of pizzure, some shit like that, and Eric Junior was like, I sat next to you and D wait at the at the Olympics. So all right, who's this Eric Junior that he's got the Olympic Games sitting that close to, because I'm sure d wads not in a nosebleeds now. No, yeah, so you're showing your hand a bit there. Yeah, B see or Barbara, yeah, bod baby. So it's just another one of these things around this team that they just all these self inflicted wounds like you guys look like a joke, and that it. I think it did impact the office. Yeah, I was just going to say, which is like Paul George was. He wasn't certain going back to OKC. I wish. Yeah, I wish we got punched now. Yeah, I take him over Butler and a heart beat. And then Lebron was still up in the Arrow. I mean we all knew. I guess he knew all along he was going Alle but there were still rumors sloating around and then this story broke and everyone's like, oh well, now we're the joke. And and then you have him bead come out and tweet against Colangelo and what he tweeted out and everyone blew up about that. And then I think it was funny how everyone on twitter was saying the FBI should contact the sixers, like twitter people, because they found out these yeah, burner accounts in like a day or two and like it takes a Fya like crimes like best. Again, they're like they should contact sixers twitter to find out crimes. I mean and wet through that whole thing. We never really heard from Josh Harris now now, nor who's the other one? Scott somewhere near Scott O'Neil. Yeah, we never really heard a whole lot from them. It was bright brown was thrown out to the wolves. You know, clan Jo had a player had, yeah, two players it was. It was people that you wouldn't expect answering questions on that whole situation. That's a front office situation that should have been handled by the executives in front off. And when in beat tweeted out, I think it was like Sam Hainky was better than you or something like. Maybe that shows that, like, the players didn't really like this guy. I mean, if I'm beating sweeting that out as like it seemed like a likable guy. Yeah, he did seem a little arrogant and, you know, a little obnoxious, but like that, that's what got me was, you know, maybe the players didn't really like this guy. If, and beats tweeting this out, like Sam Henky's better than you and this other stuff he was saying. HMM, so maybe maybe they said something. Twitter is a tool that the modern athlete uses. I don't know if it's their advantage of their yeah, yeah, twitter, his name, has caused some problems with this. Yeah, faults with his comments on twitter. Joel. I like Joel's Party now. He's just he's easy at. Joel's getting commercial money off of this. He's pure entertainment. He makes a questionable comments here there, but I love it. I mean he's going after like Rihanna on there, after other players and who else? Kim Kardashian, Lebron triple h, he's he said, I represent twitter in the NBA. So he feels like it's his mission to be that social media and may God, you know, and and he's doing a great job at it. Yeah, what for now? Let's hope he doesn't start tweeting about Jimmy Right. Yeah, well, I don't think it's go like. No, I don't know either. We when we gave DJ and Andrew Their cell phones, one of the things we said to them was, if you can't show it to your to me or your mother, don't put it on your cell out, don't send it out. Stern A, stern parenting. They're correct. If these players have to say to themselves, if I can't show this to somebody in the front office or my fellow players are my coach, I shouldn't send it out. Come on what did, because that all seventeen burner accounts. So you don't know as all he's paying for him. Do it whatever you need to, dough, but I mean you your professional athlete getting lots of money.

You have to have a certain level of accountability on yourself and responsibility on yourself. You you know when you stir up the pot and it comes back to create chaos in the locker room, then you know you got to be called down on that and say, dude, you can't be doing this. We're trying, like you know, we're trying to win games and win a championship. This bullshit that you're doing on twitter or facebook or whatever is not conducive to US winning a championship. I think the good players, the players that know how to use twitter right, are fun follows. You gotta, you gotta can bend with twitter is. You got to understand that there's always going to be a certain segment of a fan base that has something to say about you. They're tough guys behind the the keyboards. Are you just got to leave it alone? Nor it like gotta leave it alone first long he's a great follow and you see every once in a while we'll come back at somebody would have comment, but with you like a tongue in cheek, sarcastic and always throw like I have a great day, or me blessed or something. Didn't those guys get it? Brandon Graham, a few years ago when he was taking heat, he was not good with it. He he didn't handle all. He's not to just blocking people left and right and make another guy from it. Yeah, you got and now he's great on the right. He you got to understand what the tool is and the access that you're giving people and like realize you're professional sports player, you're in the public and there's going to be people that just want to get a rise out of you and they the operative word you're using is tool. Yes, don't be be it, don't be a m all right anymore on the the burner accounts and BC big collars and it was just a big joke. Yeah, when you really think about it, is Jj and his ride up next on your your we want to do the JJ kidnapping story. That's crazy. Did you look at this tower? I mention it t las me now. All right, so Jj Reddick, he has a he has a podcast. It's interesting podcast. Another one I suggest following. Go listen to how players on there. He had Emiley Chamelon on there at one time to talk about by actually really good host. I was surprised. Yeah, it was. It's a very good podcast. And you don't he's not a guy that's really that local. You don't see him with a lot of interviews every now and then, but you seeing that side of them. It's interesting. So He's telling his story on his podcast. The one day that him, his wife and his I think it was his sister in law. We're taking a trip on somewhere. They were going somewhere so that a driver come and pick them up. They getting a car to a excursion or explorer or something like that big, big ASSUV and they're driving and the sister in law taps M and says there's somebody in the back of the truck. He's a what me talking about? There's somebody in the back of the truck. So Jj, you know, turns an he looks back and sure enough there was like a cage looking thing with a blanket thrown over it and you can see an arm and the head of what looks like either a young girl or a woman, a blond blond hair, and he's like holy what not, what's coming on here? So they were on the highway when they saw it, so he couldn't have the driver pull over. Then she's a good highway, said driver, could you pull over for a minute? Driver pulls over. They'll they grabbed their shit, that grab their bags. They jump out in her like somebody's in the back of your truck here. Drivers like, what are you talking about? There's something there's a cage in the back of this truck and there's there's a young woman in there. Driver gets out, going around to the back of the truck, opens the Trunk Up, looks it there and goes Nope, I know you're talking about. Clearly there's a person in the back of this truck in some type of cage. At Jj's like get out of here, we are not getting back in this car. And the guy drove off. So they called the police, they call a homely and they call the car service. They say, we just got dropped on the side of the road. Your driver is carrying around somebody in their trunk. Car Service says, Oh yeah,...

...we just got a call from the driver. He said that you got out because there was an extra passenger that you weren't aware of. So, Jack the clean, that's correct. Technically that's correct, but, and this was like less than twenty four hours from his podcast. So we had mo Mobaba on the show with them and I was like, what did you do? Is it we call people and se what happened? I don't know. We got another car, we drove, we went to where we were going and that was it. So I'm my friend Josh, I've mentioned, he was one who told me about the story so I'm poking him, like what happened? Did they get the driver to different the girl? I don't know. How am I spend what's us? The podcast, I think was in August. Oh, this is a while ago. Okay, so it was just pay somewhere, like I don't remember hearing anything about yeah, he's gonna, he's gonna go out and start tweeting that today. I just got have a car, but I just was involved in a kidnapping. But he puts it out there on his podcast and I had never heard anything about it. I want to know if they went back to the same car service if they ever needed a ride again. Did they just send a different driver out? I can't blame it on one guy. Yeah, an entire company? Yeah, I don't know. You think those trucks come equipped with a cage in the back? I mean maybe, yeah, they didn't hire the right guy, but I'm not going to put that as any diamond of the whole company right. That, that whole story just cracks me up, man, and it's it's kind of eerie, it's kind of spooky. It's like yeah, like you, what did I get myself into here and what happened at that port and what happened to the girl? Right, what was what was that whole scene? And next time we go to a game will have to like make a sign and write Jj. WHO's your car service? What happened to the blond e in the last well, what are you talking about? And you know, I've never used Uber or lift before, but if I ever, I ever moved, the first thing I'm doing, if it's an SUV, the first thing I'm doing is looking in that back you open a trunk for me, Roscause I ain't getting in if there's anything back there. We didn't use one a Nashural, not tottle service. He had Lee ruin. That was Leroy Shuttle Service, which I thought van. Now we didn't use one in North Carolina either. Now, now, now, we yeah, yeah, we, yeah, Jay J Shasky drove. All right, we're coming up on a time here, so we got a couple quick lightning rounds. We talked about ownership. Josh Harris, Uh Huh, landing his helicopter at the middle of a soccer field right before the kids were getting ready to play ruined the game. All right, as a weird flex. So then what he does is he invites the whole team to a devil's game. Well, thanks, oh boy. Yeah, Oh boy, I sure want to go see those devil's place. WEA somebody was there. Yeah, Narland's no well and his rental property number. That story. Oh, yeah, my memory. After he got traded, he's obviously moving out of town the rental property owned. They said he'd like destroyed the place. There were gay they were gatorade stains everywhere. There was plumbing damage from wow, ecal matter being stuck wow there. He came back and put a tombstone on the front yard. o put he broke the elevator. The Toe was falling stone. I used. was he was he mad that he got traded? COMBSTONE? Think was. I don't know. I don't know. Or was he just like a weird guy? And just again it's these young guys. Look if I was his age. Yeah, it's somebody gave me a million dollars. You don't care. Just it was the offseason. I yeah, guys, come on over. Yeah, I suppilled a Gatorad Shit Up. I'll just get new rugs tomorrow. Yeah, probably one of those things. He wasn't expected to leave that quickens man, but the writers like they shoot him in everything for it to get damages back. Yeah, I guess the first month rent wasn't covering that. Now I don't think. I don't think the security of...

...post covered, although it might have had an elevator in the house of that first month security deposit was probably a a large security to pose. Yeah, most we got bed and Kendall. I loveing nets to eleven in two when she's in the building. I saw. I don't know. It worries me because Kendall's got that La connections that's always in the yeah, that's she seems like the most normal Carl. Yeah, yeah, he's she's the most low barn at that. She's crawling. Yeah, she's. She looks like she's got the head on her shoulder and she's like sitting next to his family. Yeah, front run. I'm fine with it. I think she's just living here now too. She's pretty much at every home. Yeah, so I don't even know. She travels back and forth. seemed. Yeah, this seems like a normal functioning relationship. shacking them up, shacking up with him now it's she's got her fame because of the family name, but she's also kind of built her own. Yeah, she's got a U actually works. Yeah, she's got a hurt it which she seems to be a better business. Yeah, head what? Maybe little more down the earth. Maybe she wants to try to break away from that and start a new family with been and we'll stay here in Philly. Now, I know. Start this family stuff. Right, let him Letti play ball. Yeah, let's hold Elphin the fat. Don't know. He Um. I've heard that she gets trash talked at home games. Is that? I never hear any truth behind that. I've never wanted to fill her any I got. I know there's going to be a certain element down there that, mate, I don't know, something like I don't know how you trash all her right now, I got it. Yeah, she's not doing anything worthy of being trained. She's something Nice. Look at thorning as sure. But my point, my where I'm going with this is I'm looking at the court the whole time. It's has come on. Man, Heather must be listening. You said she's got the La Connection. And where's the one place that everybody's always talking that if been doesn't stay here, he's going to be going where? To La Lebron? So right, so my point is it. Will that come if they're still together two years from now? Will that come into play? where she's being harassed down at the Wells Fargo Center? She's like been I don't want to deal with this bullshit anymore. We're out of here. Let's go. Well, let's not be too bad. If she's willing to see, she said the back. You know, yeah, I can get the passing. Hey, what's came up to and what are you doing here to play? Ila? I have a friend. I have a friend down there, Matt, who works security, and he's had to be security for a couple times and he's talked to her like a normal person, and he says she's like really Nice, like down the earth, like just like a regular person. So, like, I don't think she's a big arrogant type A person. Like you're like you're allowed the looker in the eyes. Yes, like, yeah, he's he said she's not like this big arrogance cell everything, I think. I mean they're going to drexel games and sitting in the yeah, exactly. Yeah, I they got the really, yes, they had their whole section to himself on drexels can and they just had one security guards the end of their row. That might be my favorite story because I just want to see her reaction going to drexel campus. That that's just so much fun. And then they were there with Tj to that's who. I didn't know that.
