And then our illustrious guest, friend of the show, chef Tim Lopez. All I there's talking about somebody else. Couldn't be me, but hey, what's up everybody? Glad to be back. Timmy missed the INTRO. We played a little breakfast club. I heard that. Did you hear that? I heard you almost go on your good morning Vietnam. Let you switch the sports fans right there in the last minute. So since the Peace Robin Williams, Tim was nice enough for Tim's bringing in some homemade scrapple. It already smells delicious. Are Right, and the air friar to crisp and back up, because you know you travel rapple it gets, it goes from crispy to Sagi. So we got a crick zoggy scrapples and known know people. I don't care if it's your first time, your last time. Don't hit the SAGGI scrabble. Get up, leave. Go to a different joint. and Talking of champions, right there, there's your right there, and he's got the ring to prove it. Yes, yes, he does. It's rights are the best too. By the way, I haven't I've tried food from them. I haven't go out made the purchase yet, though. I hear one of my favorite joints to get wings and logs burn. Yea Lab wings are perfect in there. That's I hear that. The wings and the potato hogs warm up fantastic in the air. Friar. So I may need to make that purchase soon. I think they're cheap enough now. So yeah, yeah, it's got a friend space for it. Hmm, let me are frying everything once I get at them. Shoes, dog food, everything. Do you have to check with anyone before you make that purchase? When it comes to the kitchen, deec I do what I want. You Reign Supreme. She must not be listening. Noah, he's not listen. Are you had check for the house? I have had chef of the house. Okay, I do the food shopping, I do the cooking. It's it's my getaway, you know. That's that's I'll get away that. That's what my dad did too, so that's pretty cool.

Yeah, my dad got a little better as we got older. But no, I don't know if mom and dad are watching, but neither of them. We're really great cooks. Oh yeah, so I grew up. You thrown the whole family owned it a bus. Damn, Dude. It's lots of family and friend we bring them all long. It's supposed to lie a little bit. Now, don't tell you. Dad's gotten better. Mom probably still prefers not to cook, but I always worked in kitchen. So I my grandma was a good cook. I picked up something for my grandma. But yeah, just trial and error. I'll eat just about anything and if I don't like it, then I just won't make it again. Like peas. You will not see me, make me please. I like peas. Yeah, it was wanted. A few vegetables I ate as a kid without throwing a fit. Peas, corn and spinach. Let me guess, pop back and cheese, chicken tenders. Yeah, yes, look at that, Andrew. Yeah, yeah, all right, before Tim comes in with our fine spread of breakfast, this is a sports show, I believe. Right, I think so, sports, at least we started out that way. I don't have my new years ago. I feel naked. I'll have my notes. Look, I'm good to bring my notebook, but I have some topics we talk about, HMM, and I'm going to leave a good fifteen, twenty minutes at the end for DJ to talk about the US women's soccer team. That's all right, I know he's a huge fan and once has some thoughts about it. So we'll give you time and we'll also give you time to spoil toy story for all right, sure, right, sounds good. Spoiler alert. Shark dies in the end. They had a shark ice hand. All right, football. MMM, that's get into football. MMM. Still no training camp. We got about two weeks, a little lesson two weeks. MANICATE ype kicks up, but there's always stories out there and just recently pro football focus ranked the eagles Oline as the best o line in the league. He got cowboys were a bit behind. Yes, I'll take it. I'll take it. I think there's a bit of assumption build into that, though. Jason Peters. Is he going to be back? Be The JP has been? Maybe not last year the year before, but yours prior right fully healthy full season. Jake Jason Peters, Brandon the Brooks Yeah, I was just great in Brooks. Yeah, I think he is expected back. Yeah, he says he'll be ready a week while at the started to see. Yeah, I don't know, I don't say it. That's worn Achilles. That's tough. Yes, especially it was playing offensive line in January to m so right, and that's usually a year. Yeah, plus, and you know you're never quite you're not. You're not the same player you are for that first year you're back. It takes a while to get back in the groove and and get your pardon the punk, get your feedback onto you. I don't know if you've seen his videos, though. He looks good. Yeah, he said seen his works and work outs. He looks look, is a difference between a workout and, you know, people trying to take your head off and rush the quarterback. I understand, but I mean, you know what's it? It's July now. So Hmm, I mean that's pretty good if it just happened in January. He's out working out again, running, practicings, not practicing with the team, but right now, yeah, right, practicing to get better. Yeah, I'm HM, I don't want to say I'm skeptical about that. You know that right up. But with those injuries, those two coming back from injury, and and on top of it they're putting big V in for Brandon until he's confirmed. Ready. Is it big? There is. It's SAM say. You know what, DIY? That's right. I think it is. Say Mouth was all. He's going to be the left guard. Believe he's okay. So that's what Brooks total be. Peters say? Well, Luke Right, Kelsey right, who brooks and lean right? Is the line the way...

...the vision? What about what he tells? What about Whiz? Well, I'd rather see whizz in there than the other to either one of the other two events last year. So obviously they solve saw something until yeah, but the five man doesn't see. I don't know, it just kind of looks better whenever he's in there. I mean he's the one a bitter we get could if a better jo we get blinded by that play you made in the divisional game? Or is he really you know, was new? See, yeah, I I would rather I seen him get beat a couple times pretty bad. Well, everybody gets beat Wine Ala and he's not. I like them. I hope he starts. Yeah, I liked I'd rather see him starting. I believe that the way that line's configured is the same mine for the Super Bowl run, yeah, or four out of the five. Yeah, the Super Bowl R and who knows, day might throw Dillard in somewhere. That's that's where I was going to go with JP. So if Peters isn't a hundred percent, we got the rookie who everybody wet at the draft. They said he's one of these office of Lineman that can step right in and play. He can get right in their self. We need to put him in for Peters. Hopefully it's not a dropoff peters, all pro hall of Famer. It's going to be somewhat of a dropoff, right, but peters of the last couple years is this younger guy close to me. Was Not a hundred percent. Nope, you when you went to Kelsey, you made a bit of a face. Yes, couldn't say it on camera, but I saw it. What was that all about? Just numbers, age. He's thirty one. Thirty four, I think he's right. He's played thirty four. Stats. Somebody get the stats. He's played. He through injuries that you just know about. Yeah, Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, but you know these are not thirty. But he's not thirty four, not already R thirty one. Thirty two. I think he's out already one. Thirty two. I here's a man who may be able to help us in that category. Yes, thirty one. He's thirty one, thank you. Just got married, so you know gives a little bit extra off out there. Right, well married guys, right, when you hit the field with the Pie Soccer League and weakens the legs, Tim and weakens the legs. That's a matter of opinion, Bro Matter of I'm sorry, I was off Mike for a while. It's just that's all right, homemade scrap of delicious, this is ready. But please let's continue this bird's talk, because nothing gets me more hungry and fired up than talking about training camp. So I I once saw. Just to contradict or not, to set the record straight, let me say I used to watch a show called sports versus signs, and they took that, you know, on that that the age, that that myth. No, it's bad for the legs. Yes, and they did it with how did they do that? They did it with a boxer who was married and he, you know, him and his wife got together the night before his boxing match. Did just play more and if they, they took all sorts of measurements, you know, different bodily fluids, and you know, they hooked up all these things to him to measure before him and his wife got together. I'm going to after him and his wife got together and before the fight. It's getting a little, a little too yeah, I'm gonna but my my point, by my point was it did not affect his level of testosterone or, you know whatever it is that makes you more fierce on the on the field of competition. I would call it grit. Great, yeah, we got grits here. We got to rate these guys got grits. That got grits for football. Yeah, great, they got toughness. So it was just me. It would that that myth was debunked on that show. You cringe more if I asked you to explain him and his wife got together more with Andrew in the room or with Father Cavaron. That is a really good question. I'm not sure. I'm not and I don't know how I would answer that. All right, so that's that's a myth. But I just he's played something like eight seasons without an injury, eight consecutive seas about an injury. He's a smaller guy.

Maybe that means he's in better shape. And chiff Tim, you know what's eating, and there he's a lean, mean guy. Kelsey, and maybe he isn't good condition, but my man likes are a good sandwich, he likes a good pizza. But I will say this. When we redesigned the cafeteria, he was first and foremost in putting in what we'd like to call our clean eating station. Clean eating means it's there's no added fat, no added sugar. A lot of the stuff is raw or just steamed or just roasted, and Jason was right at the forefront of doing that. So his diet is on point. He's hit avocado toast a lot, which doesn't make him a hipster. So hipsters, don't don't get all cheering out there. I love you and I love your avocado toast, but please don't elect Mr Kelsey your representative. His wife put him onto it and you know he's a good he's a good husband. He's a good husband, he's a good football player, he's a good eater, he's a healthy guy. Happy Wife, happy life. That's what they say. I did see a picture of Kelsey at I just mentioned, one of my favorite wind spots, Burns tavern. He's there with the owner burns. He's so we stopped in there for some some wings. have to ask him what he thought of those wings. Worse, next time, you say you got Sir Rocheous Year of garlic, hot sauce and catch up for your scrapple gentleman, this she's grits and a scrambled eggs with tons of love and butter in them, mostly butter. This is just what I needed this morning. There you go. Man Hits it in the spot, recovering from a wild night where you yeah, you already went to women's soccer team for you probably wish good for you. Yeah, comfy doesn't end up in the back seat of Jimmy's car. I'm going home. I'll be our Jimmy. Watch that back seat action, man, keep it clean. All Right, I'm waiting on my scrapple to finish up, but go ahead and get gentleman. It is excellent. It's spicy. I like it and made quite because I always have to put pepper on mine when I'm when I'm using whatever brand of scrapples out there, you know I'm not going to give them, not to any specific brand, because we use utilize all different kinds. But I said, you don't. But I can knock this out. I better could knock it out. So we could talk about it now or we could continue. I think we should continue to training camp stuff while you guys eating them. Maybe we'll will win on the scrapple or I'll way in house. Either way, I will give a quick scrapple is excellent. All right, watching online here. Sorry I say, smack my lips over with microphone, but bad CAAVERA is watching. Timmy bather covert wants to talk to you about his sandwich, so he may be calling in at some point this morning. Brother Covert, I've been trying to get you in the complex, but here's what happened. It was right out of the gate with OTA's. We were busy as heck and I just didn't have a time to get you in there. In fact, for me, OHTA's was like blink and you miss it. It was at busy. It was a quick and I just didn't have a time to get you in. But I still want to get you in. I got this nice chunk of what we'd like to call a quiet week next week, because training camp doesn't start till the twenty. If so, if I can do it, I will bring you in and you you got my digits. You can call me, you could text me, you could send me an email. I'm sorry, I haven't, you know, responded as well. Forgive me, father. I have sent that's what I'm trying to say. So you said I love you, budden. You say you have a quiet week. Yeah, but I don't believe you don't believe it. I see what you're up to. So let's talk a little bit about what shift chef him's up to building his media platform. Before we build a media platform, let's talk about this breakfe for either swallt's little pot while you guys are eating it. Yes, I I want to tell you about scrapple. All right, never was a fan of scrapple until I became a fan of scrapple at a necessity, because if you hang around in these parts, ladies and gentlemen and others out there listening, you're eventually, you know, either eat the scrapple or you don't hang out with a scrapple crowd. That's what I think. Pennsylvania Dutch old school, you know. They take the parts of the pig that they weren't going to use for other issues or like sausage making, turn it into scrapple, cook it down with corn meal. I looked at a couple different recipes and I decided what's in this scrapple today? It's pork shoulder, Hamhawks and pork belly. That's...

...all cooked down in a pork stock with a lot of different vegetables to give it a little bit extra flavor. There's a lot of fresh stage in there. There's a lot of Cayenne and fresh crack black pepper. A lot of times when I eat my scrapple I like a crispy like everybody who eats scrapple should. I know anybody likes it limp, but hey, that's that's your problem. It's a conversation for deep for they are all air. I got to put a lot of black pepper on my scrapple because I like pepper. So I hit it a little bit of extra cayen. So a lot of people eat a hot sauce to eat it with syrup or catch up. I brought all of those today, but it really doesn't need anything. It just needs a little bit of salt. I brought some extra salt. I always have it with me. I gave a little touch at to basket on. Actually like it little spiced up, but anybody wants a little bit extra salt, we got salt right here. minute. When you cook it, yeah, flour, dredge and flower. Do you spice to flower? I usually put a little Kay in her little cage and seasoning in my flower and I dredge it in flower before I cook it. There's no flower on it now. You don't Cook it in flat that is seared. That's sliced and seared and clarified butter. That's it, okay, and then I put a little salt on it at the end when it's crispy, just like French fries. You know, it was a lot of fun making it because I never made it before. You know, you essentially cook all those parts down that I talked about. You take everything off the bone. In the case of the hamhocket was on the bone. Some the pork shoulder head bones on it. The belly, of course, didn't. I was able to take off some of the fat from the belly and use that for something else. So I use the meat from it. You chop it up really fine and a food processor and then you take the stock that you made from cooking that pork. You put it in a pot, bring it to a simmer, add your corn meals. That starts to thicken up. You add in the pork, the chop pork and your seasonings the fresh stage, and then you just pull word in the loaf pans and put it in the fridge for they said anywhere between forty eight hours and seventy two hours the recipe I read, but I want to try it, so I didn't wait that long and it was like all over the flat tops. So literally, if you're making this from scratch, if they tell you to wait a while and let that thing set up, let it set up because it might feel like it's ready to go but it needs almost, you know, three or four days. How many loaves did you make? The recipe that I did made six loaves. I brought one loaf today. I already ate a loaf with the guys at work, who liked it because they said it was spicy. That's what was good about it. I know there's a lot of different flavors of crap scrapple out there. There's a chipotle scrapple, you know, I've seen a chili lime scrapple. I see people doing different stuff with scrapple. I'm sure will over a stock yard when they make their bang and scrapple. They probably put a lot of cool different stuff in it. But for the first time make it, I have to say, you know, putting maybe higher end ingredients than hopes and snouts in it for the first time. Make it ever I like. I like the taste of it, I really do. I like regular scrapple to don't get me wrong, but this one's got the heat in it that I think the normal stuff's missing. So I love when people say, who, do you know what's in there? Yes, I do, not said there and it's still it's the king of all breakfast of peace. The people that say that have not been indicted, indicted, excuse me, inducted. They should be indicted. You have not been inducted into the scrapple, you know, brotherhood. So there's something to resspect using all parts of an animal. I no, seriously, you got to give it to the Pennsylvania Dutch. Didn't waste anything to give it to him. These cheese grits are pretty dam of the grits are amazing. Yeah, I haven't had grits and years and from what I remember there's not really a ton of taste and grits and much. You add stuff to it and it's these are perfect. It is really good. Yeah, I think it's forty nine percent butter, like twenty percent grits and then the rest his cheese it's good stuff. It. I went up hooking all this up. This morning I got a house full of people, so I made breakfast for everybody and they wouldn't eat the scrapple. So I'm like, well, I'm going to take scrapple. We're really so I made them some some Turkey still sins, but they were killing the grits and the scrambled eggs. That I'm going to take the scrapple. Where's appreciated. We're going to scrapple and I said no, you can't come with me. So also goes fine with whiskey. Yeah, yes, Hey, amen,...

...sure, cops. Let's have a taste. Right, let's have a taste. Jason Man, Miss you been watching on social media. You're all over the place, brother, love you, you love your product. Back now, back to social media. I wanted to social media. You are a busy man. Well, really, you had a nice little event to beats and eats. Yeah, event. We got to interview a couple iron chefs, HMM, and other famous chefs. That's all right, and I know that you guys at the Eagles are really trying to build up your podcasting. So not only just tim make fantastic food as a chef for the eagles. But Tim is also does his podcast. If you haven't listened to our show for with Tim he has defeating the birds podcast. You're in season three now, Yep. So give us a little, a little teaser into who he's talked with this week or this week the season. We can look look forward to a here you interview and the part I like the most about it is when you ask the three questions of each guest. So give us a little on that. And the questions changed a little bit. Let me let me get into a used to just be burger topping, pizza topping, and then what's the craziest food you've ever encountered? I like that one, the creatized food. Now we're expanding, as I said, we're getting outside the nest a little bit. All right, we're taking flight and we're going into parts of Philadelphia we've never been in before. I've been there, but the PODCAST hasn't. So I was I was delighted to be able to go to writing terminal market and interview the general manager and some of the vendors there. And while we were doing interviews there, we had to think six booked I booked eighteen more because people kept coming up to me. So we're going to hit my spot when you come into my spot. You know Bassett's ice cream came and so when you coming over here. So I was like all right, all right, we're coming back, we're going to do it. We're trying to expand this podcast to cover not only the food culture of Philadelphia but to really talk to everyday people who live extraordinary lives. Our football players do that, our coaches do that, I myself, I'm doing that. I never saw that coming, you know what, to talk to some of the really cool chefs that I talked to at beats and eats. We talked with Iron Chef Kakhora Iron Chef Jose Garsis. We got them both at the same time, which was a great tandem interview. Got To talk with Andrew Zimmern from travel channels bizarre foods. Got The talk with Chef Kevin Spraga. He was a top chef winner and chef and Philadelphia are part of him. Oh yeah, absolutely hundred percent, and that was just a start for us. We're reaching out. I just did an interview with executive chef for ocean prime in the theater district in Philadelphia. It's chef Steve Achner and as general manager was there. We had a nice talk and I gave him a nice tour of the the complex. So we're trying to reach out into Philadelphia to learn more about the food culture of our city and and I of our fans. You know, South Philadelphia is somewhere we started. We went to the Italian market festival and went up do an interview with a chef and guess I would call him well. He's third generation owner of the Bruno brothers, Emilio Manucci, and that guy was fantastic. I stood in the middle of a seething crowd of people all searching for the best Italian food with him and did an interview right in the middle of the street, so you can hear people going by and in the background the vendor's a yelling ice called Perrowni like that. I had like two of them because, you know, was hot day. So, but just to hear that in the background and to get more into instead of just sitting in the studio and going to tell me about your pizza topping. Yeah, go to a place where they're making the pizza and talk to somebody you know, like chef Manucci and the other folks. It's been absolutely incredible and we're just we're expanding that universe. We're trying to get out there, we're trying to talk to pretty much everybody. So if you need anybody to like sit in the background and just taste the food, is that what you know? I get you guys are on board. I want that job. Gave you. I gave you a shout out during an interview, a recent interview. I think it was with either with Zach not. Wasn't...

...with Zach, was with chef Steve acner. So when that one there's I said my guys as saying of bude. First I said you're going to like this. So Nice School. You guys are in there. Speaking of current episodes, we just had the first one, season three drop yesterday. We Have Eagle Super Bowl champion, Zach hurts, number eighty six, obviously his wife, husband of the yeah, his husband of Julie Arts, his wife and the women's soccer team just won their Fourth World Cup. So it's great to world champions. And I saw something interesting online. Apparently dug texted Zach and said tell you know, tell her congratulations and Zac text the backs. Yeah, we're next. We're going to get another one next like, let's go and yeah, working with Zach, he is all about that. He's always a lot of these guys, I would say, what's the entire team and and beyond that, we're all reaching for that next Super Bowl trophy, you know, and so it was great to be able to talk to Zach right on the edge of that victory with the women's soccer team. It was great to pair that with chef Kakhor and chef Jose Garis has the podcast is becoming. It's still about sports, but it's more about food. So it's a way to get to the head of Philadelphia, the fans and in our players as usual. So I've been loving it. It's just been fantastic to go different spots, you know. That's great. I'm looking forward to the video that podcast of the market and just meet different we're not just tea steaks right now, not more than the steaks, and people need to rest. Give you guys a preview. The people that we interviewed. Got An interview with the general manager on Noaj Gupta, and I just I cold called all these people. You know, some of them that I talked to. We went into the interview, a couple people weren't receptive because they thought I was selling like season tickets over the phone or something. So, yeah, you know what, then you don't get on the podcast. You know you didn't want to take time listen to me. But we went in there and interview the general manager, who told me about the history of the market in his own personal history. He also told me a great story about during the Super Bowl parade how busy the market was. I'll let you on the quote, because the quotes awesome. He said on every any given weekend they're doing between thirty and thirty five thousand people in like a nice season. If it's if it's wintertime, maybe you get a little bit less. He said on the day of the Super Bowl parade, and you remember how cold it was at Yep right, forty seven thousand people came in the doors of Reading Terminal Market Wow in one day, to the point where they had to pretty much close everything except for one exit because the market was getting ready to close, but everybody was still in there. And then, he said, magically the parade ended and everybody dispersed. We closed down time he's like that's a personal best, he says, but that numbers a personal best because that market means a lot to the city of Philadelphia, just like the Philadelphia Eagles mean, you know, to our fans in the whole city. And that was in incredible that to be on, you know, close to the parade route like that and have that many people experience the blunders of that market. So we interviewed him. We interviewed Camal's Middle Eastern delicacies. They got the best falafel and they got the best smoothies where they're like juice and everything fresh for you. That place was amazing. I did an interview with Haltman family meets, really good butcher. They got these these Tomahawks, the bigger than any I've ever seen. So I saw some of your pictures. Yeah, all my God, those guys are fantastic and the sausages they make her out of this world. Then an interview with one of Jason Kelsey's favorites because he's a big supporter of the market and he always goes to Herschel's east side Delhi, and gets that Pastrami rubent man. That that is a killer sandwich. If you've never had a room before in your life and you're in Philly, you go there and you have that, it'll change your life. And then every other room where the battery are, the Ruben, I'll kind of just be that much less. That guy over there, chef Steve at Herschel's east side Delly. I gotta give you guys problems. Best route and I've had ever and of course, the Knicks. The next, Ye, the Nicks. You know, Tommy. The next is literally the first time I came to Philadelphia over...

...fifteen years ago, a friend of mine took me there and he said if you want to have the quintessential Philly Sandwich, that let's not go to pats of Gino's first, let's go to the terminal and you got to go to Tommy, the Knicks, and it has literally been my go too for what is a quintessential Philadelphia Sandwich. That ROAs pork sandwich is absolutely incredible, with the long hoots, the Broccoli, rob sharp provolone. I get missedy just getting about it. For with really though, you know, love a good cheese steak, but to me, yeah, the pork sandwich is yes, and you got to get every I was just having a discussion with a couple friends about that. I put out there that I said I might be on board that the roast pork sandwich is better than the cheese steak and they all gave me backlash, short and stuff, but I mean even had enough of that for exactly. If you get the right root or star provolone and some longhots on, it might be better than Rossley right to yeah, I'm one of those weird people that actually enjoys going to jury duty. What living in the city? Yes, I'm going to tell you why. The there are few reasons, but the biggest reason I enjoy going to jury duty I go to lunch every day at the writing terminal, a, you lucky duck, Yep. And the problem is if I get picked for a trial, which I have a few times. If I get picked for a trial, I end up eating more that I'm getting paid. So I end up losing money to go jury duty, but I don't care because I get to eat at the writing term. I know anybody that likes food that much, well, you gotta go to writing terminal. That I've been, trust me, and I last the last trial I was on. It was it was about a little, little more than a week, I think, and I tried to go to a different place every time just so I can get, you know, like a Schmogaese board of the writing terminal. I want to say that, Tim, that's a really cool idea going around the red in turn of market, because you can walk in there and easily get so overwhelmed. And that's a bunch of like really really quality spots. Yeah, and for anybody that's going there for first time, you listen at podcast, you kind of get inside these guys heads of what they're doing there. Something that the Nixt told me. I didn't know. They were voted Best Sandwich in America. In Two thousand and sixteen. Nobody's taking the crown yet. So Hey, man, go in there and experience, you know, a wonderful invention of this beautiful country of ours. You know, the Best Sandwich in America, Best Sandwich in Philadelphia. I'm not hating on the cheese stack. I love not stick there. I would never ever take away from the cheese stack, but I have to say maybe cheese steaks, you need to come down off the throne and share that crown with the Rose Port Sandwich. You know, you can go to John's rose pork, you can go to Tommy the Knicks. You can figure out how to hook it up yourself like we do Cheez. I don't know, maybe over forty times a year, right at the Eagle's novacare complex. But that's my favor man. How many is my favorite? Do you know how many? How many shops are in the market? There's over sixty, over sixty, over sixteen. I think they just got two new vendors approved to open up some new stuff. There's some one vendors coming like. I forget their name, but they're coming directly from Spain. So it's going to be all that's awesome. Spanish imporded wonderful stuff like the olives, the olive oil, the different in types of sauces, different types of all the different types of cuisine from southern and middle Spain there. So that's really pretty cool. Yeah, and I got the last thing I want to say about the market. I'm hoping to be good buddies with the general manager because he said when the Eagles win the Super Bowl next time, he said I stood in my office and looked out my window and I had a perfect view of the parade like they were on the top of those buses and everybody had to look up. He said, I got to look down. He's like, I got to see a different side of the parade. And he said next time they win, will you come and watch the parade with me on the Reading Terminal Market Office? I said Yeah, precise that's that's that's day, brother. I will be there. I will be there. Now. What if they actually to? You'd be at the front of a bus with a girl's gonna say you mean you weren't in the parade. Would be made to be at the front of a bus. Would a grill. I will do that as long as we can stop at the reading terminal and my buddy's over there just to give them a nod. Because if I,...

...if I was like you and I went there all the time, forget it, I'd be a thousand pounds and I die happy right there at the market. But I tell you, slicking some bell literally that litterally aspress my Disneyland, at place I love. Hey, you're happy place hundred percent. HMM. We better get something from the writing Terminal Market Man. All a free publy just gave them. It's all I see a new sponsor in the future. Hey, when it comes to food, I get tall holiday, absolutely, especially good food. HMM. Let's get back to sports for a quick man with them. So I don't know if we just did. A day before, a report came out that the NFL owners actually went to the competition committee with an eighteen game schedule proposal. What I don't I'm all for more football. HMM, if it takes away from the preseason, I think the preseason has way too long. But the idea is it would be an eighteen game season but players could play a Max of sixteen games. That's interesting, right. So how what, like like the NBA does, and rest players or something like that. You would not put rest to put this is a mandatory. Yes, is more like as. That's interesting. So what so like what if, oh, team goes into week seventeen, like the seventeen game, and you know they're fighting for that playoffs, shop up their best players. So you start off slow, but all of a sudden your rookie quarterback, yeah, you know that's just fire. You're on a playoff run it. Sorry, yeah, play. Sorry, Baker, you got to sit the last two games. Played Sixteen. Wow, he could still play the playoffs. But that half. This is that's interesting and you're gonna have guys playing like half games, looking at their stats, going if I play half the Oakland game, I can play all of the patch game with because I need to play all the pass game. Maybe you can all play half the Green Bay game. It's like, come on, man, seriously, this is going to rek havoc for fantasy football. That was what are yeah, yeah, Oh my God, but let's let's Yikes. It's just a proposal that every he's a fantasy. He come up with you at first I want to say think of think about the NBA and how you get players come. So you get certain teams will come the Philly only once every year. Yeah, so you have some upcoming star that's coming to play in Philly. It's week seventeen. They're already in the playoffs. This might happen anyway, but you're not going to see quarterback number one and you can have to wait eight more years and hope the quarterback with number one is still playing at the level he's playing. It's it's like where Lebron James comes to Philly and he doesn't play because he gets load management issue or M be load management. You know they can way that. I can see it in the NBA, but NFL is not, like a little different. Yeah, you're not booking on seeing some shorter season. Yeah, more you don't have as much time to, you know, get back into the also, nobody's slamming you to the boards as much exact. I know it happens, but it doesn't happen every play. You don't have a three hundred and twenty pound man trying to knock your head off. I don't know. I mean I putting that twist with the sixteen game maximum kind of it really makes it intriguing. I'm with you, Jim. I'm all for more football, but can we take away to Thursday night games? Can we throw another claws in there if you take out the Thursday night games? Games out, because I can't stand those games. And make first of all, oh, I know it's never going to happen because there's too much money in bold. I got you get football every day, almost right during football see right and the see that adds that. That's a negative aspect, because what's so appealing, and I'm going to explain what is so appealing about football in the NFL. There's one game of week. Your team only plays one game a week. It owns one day, right, which, wants upon a time was only Sunday. Now it's Sunday. It's Monday and Thursday and Thursday and Saturday late in the season after college balls...

...done. Yeah, so that's at the end of the season. You're looking at four days a week. Now your teams still only playing at one game. But when you get over saturated, how much baseball do we watch other than the phillies? How much flyers do we watch other than the flowers and so on? Because it's it's on every day and you know, you get over saturated with the product and it starts to lose its appeal outside of your local affiliation. You know when when it was only when there were no Thursday games, I really liked watching more football because, number one, I wasn't watching it all the time. You know, I was only watching it Sunday afternoon and Monday night and that was it. And that that really makes the appeal to watch more of the League and not just your local. Yeah, I know, loyalties. Yeah, but when it's on too much, I think it takes away from the overall appeal. The game ratings go up and up every year. I I know. Yeah, you get like a slaious in the rating showing around every year. Now, that's not true. It's not true. It's football. Look at sales of jerseys for crying outlet. I'm not just talking about eagles. Look at look at nation wide, worldwide. I think you're going to get to a point where it's going to be over saturation. Well, maybe football is kind of just like this POPs mccan whiskey. Take it one sip at a time and you enjoy savoring, enjoy saving, and Eagles victory every week. HMM. You know, I'm not just saying with you. I have bird on my hat, were on your chest. Drink pops Thursday through Monday and I can all right, and I just have to work for a living. Gym, all right, you know, I don't know. I don't how much time you spend on the couch, but you know, maybe I'll care for the whole Thursday night games. Maybe only have one little taste of POPs on there's Day night, the stepsis. I don't maybe you remember. I don't know, nobody else in this room remembers, but once up pot a time when there were only fourteen games and the regular season there were six preseason games. That's that's brutals. Yeah, that is now. I agree. Six preseason games many. So when they oped it, yes, it was when they uped at the sixteen games, they knocked up the priests and we used to call them exhibition games and then the NFL got tired of here and that's what I made them preseason games. How, how bad did you feel for the guys they had like a season ending injury in a preseason game? Yeah, game five always always rough, but bat and some, some of the season ending injuries today were career ending injuries. Forty five years and if they do this extending the season eighteen games, they probably knocked the preseason down to one or two games. I think they have now, they will now, they will have to, you have to have to have. Biggest argument against it from the Players Association is is the toll take some play. YEA, as potential, but you can get hurt in preseason game. Sure, extending the season to eighteen games if you're cutting off the two preseason games, but then does that mean training camp starts earlier? Yeah, so the way it goes. Now, super bowls early February. These guys get a month off. Maybe it seems like you would know Tim when our got back in the I tell you this. When we went to the Super Bowl, as soon as it was over, there was that high for a week and all the guys were still there because we won. There was the first time. We want so we don't know what to do. We know how to celebrate, but what where do you go after that's everybody was still around because the media presence was there, and so you want to talk to everybody. Then the parades coming, so you do that. Then you talked everybody after parade. Then they go on vacation. was only a tiny vacation because Otia start in April. You know it's right. Actually, offseason workout starts in April. OTIA start in May. The draft. Yeah, so I remember that year. Right after the bowl, I blinked and we were in the middle of Otia's and then we were right back into the season. So I say I if you're going to you're going...

...to take away two preseason games and make it eighteen. That's how you have to do it. You can't keep four preseason games. Attack on an additional two weeks of football. It's not good for these guys. You know, there are already talking everything about the concussion problems and everything else. You're going to give them two more games to play. You got to take two games away, balance out that schedule a little bit. You know, at least meet them halfway. You know, I realize they're getting paid for their talent, their skill. You know, that's not the argument I'm having. You know, well, if they're getting paid some much, you should, who's just go and play. You know, it's problem. I get it and I'm sure they get it, but also it's going to shorten your lifespan. You know, you have to take that serious, and you really do. At the same time, these guys are human beings. Yeah, see, you know, like they're not superman. Yeah, he's went, says Superman is what? What for for a brief period they're I don't like. I guess it was maybe fifteen to twenty years ago. They had two buys during the season, if we remember. Are they going to do that? They should. You'd have to. If you do that the eighteen games, they probably have to do that. Yeah, and then but that again you're expanding so that that's my point. Now, when is the Super Bowl? You know, they used to play the super bowl halfway through January. Yeah, now it's it's beginning of first ginners. Valentine's Day every year. Fun doesn't have to be a Sunday. How goes to the Sunday before Mlka Day? Then you go, baby, every happy Valentine to day. We're watching the super bowl. You don't have to go anywhere but buy anything that the bent on TV say. See what I'm I like. You're thinking it's good stuff, Melissa. Don't listen to this pockets now. I'm kidding. Everybody list that is true, because then you think of the NHL. The Stanley Cup is play. Didn't what's it like? The end of the yeah, like June. I think that's same with NBA finals. Like melogy, you think it's the craving of the fan base for more football or the craving of the NFL to make more money. I think it's a little second one than must, you know, but you can't fall all about the money. You really can't fault them for that. I mean, you got a wonderful product that just you know, guarantees you. You know, fanship thirty two different friendships. So it's fantastic. Yeah, ever since I've been involved in what I like to call the NFL. For me personally, I know I'm just with the eagles, but it expanded my horizons. It definitely made me more aware of sports culture and food culture. So I don't have a problem with it because I'm not out there putting my body on the line, you know, unless I'm having put your hands on the line. That put my hands on the line for these guys and, you know, coming up with fresh scrapple recipes and everything'm putting my liver on the line now. I'm just kidding, K Chake him over online now I'm pro football and pro NFL. I just as always. I'm just worried about the players health because, yeah, I'm I don't eat himsel. Don't think it'll go through the I think the players will have enough fight back to say all be a lot of night that. Yeah, that's a weak players association yet the owner's rule in the A. Yeah, absolutely, it's not like the NBA. Now he's based by the baseball's players associations, the strong James One players. But yeah, I don't think they'd expand it. So if it comes to the collective bargaining agreement, this is part of it. If you're too players association and I said all right, fine, I want guaranteed come exactly for my player. Then they'll have the lockout. Probably there they're scheduled for a lockout. I think next year, twenty two. I think Greenmans onny, but it sounds like there's Labor Harton right now. Some of these guys are like Richard Sherman when he got his new big contract. You hear Jalen Ramsey wants all this money that he wants in his new contract. There's just going to be more and more of those. So there might be a potential lockout and I one of the topics I wanted to talk about. So we'll door first derail. So with with you the NBA and and what's happened this offseason in the NBA. Is it. Can you be a fan of a team in the NBA anymore? That's nets are just turned it over and all these players are gone. So if you were a fan of the thunder because you love the Westbrook and now...

...there's nothing left on the thunder and Peeple, did you follow wet brook. At a certain age I think people are just fans of, you know, the player, because the players are bigger than the sport at this point. And in the NBA it seems like there's like no loyalty to a team anymore. Like these guys are just going to teams for three, four years, shotty, get a championship, all right, on to the next where can I go and team up put another superstar? I mean there's really like it doesn't seem like there's any loyalty anymore. And it bothers me. Is Loyalty to the paytriarch? Yeah, I mean I bothers me a little bit. Like if you play in a big enough market, like why wouldn't you want to stay there? You know, you have a fan base, all the incentives are there exactly. You get the Max money from the team that you've been on our that drafted. But now let me go to La or Miami or New York and team make a super team and just go ring chase and like, I don't know. I mean I don't see how that helps your career. When people argue, I like, you know, like the rant with his moves, like when he went to Golden State. That hurt his reputation, you know, like people are going to say all, he just teamed up with a bunch of all stars. That is at at the end of the career. Nobody remembers all the little things. It's just he was one of the best players ever do it. I don't know. Now we remember it. I think ten years later, when when I ever argue with him about Lebron being to go, he's like, oh well, he teamed up with Miami, he needed all the Wayne Wade and he's Bosh, he needs to not play for ten years. And then we reminisces on or if when lebronze out of the NBA. It's gonna be Bitch. Going to be tough, like they are going to be tough to market other players because Lebron is just the face that league and he has been for the last twenty years. I mean it's going to be tough to market that. So I don't need my pretty face on their day. Pretty face, hey, watch, okay, I just I look at how these players can basically just say, you don't know what, I don't want to play here anymore. Yeah, it's and the owners, it's the hold all the power what. Yeah, might have been a little bit of a different situation. They tried. How many other players would him and maybe the organization was finally, you know what? Yeah, this isn't working outlets. It once secret to roll build it. Once they trade Paul George, they were throwing the flag and yeah, but you see. So it's going to be interesting to see. Melvin Gordon is trying to do this now in the NFL. He's told the chargers sky one leverage. I want a new contract. Are Want to be traded? It's got an okay, we're not giving me a new contract. And you're our best running back, one of our best offensive weapons. I don't know if I'm ready to trade you. Sadly, it's the most disposable position and probably the American sports let's be honest. Yeah, I just don't like how these guys are just out. I mean, I understand, you know, go get your money, get your I would love for him to get paid, trust me, but it's just but it's just like it's like they I mean, I guess I can understand you, know, you care more about the money because you have a family. You want to make sure they're okay and you know your kids are right. Your timetable in this game exactly like that position specifically. Don't. Doesn't another side. Do you have that loyalty aspect? We're like, all right, I got drafted by this team, you know, I want to win here, like I like the fans. The fans like me, like I don't. There's not as much as that anymore. He's working hard for what maybe seven year stops at a running back position that he's like active. Yeah, their careers like a five year career. You have to get you have to get your money while you can't. So I don't blame him. It's just I don't have them. But it's just like it's just like I wished guys were just care more about playing where they started out or, you know, where they started to have a good career at. That's easy to say as an outsider now. Absolutely. Yeah, if I got somebody off for me hundreds of millions do dollars to go play anywhere, I'm all right, yeah, sure, let's compare it to other lines of work. Let's let's let's take it. Let's look at it this way, right. I mean, I'm not I'm no expert on the NBA. Then fell or any sport really. But you know, you take a running back who's basically slamming his head and his whole body in or brick walls actually many, many times every week, you know, and he's thinking about his career, he's thinking about his family, he's thinking about him I going to have any money left over after I bought those eighteen cars? Like...

...you know, he's thinking about all these different things. Compared to like a chef, compared to an accountant. You know, if, for instance, as a chef, if I'm working with the Eagles and I've been there, you know, almost fourteen years now, but if every day somebody came up and stabbed me with a knife, I'd be like look, I want more money or I want you to stop stabbing me with the knife because I don't want to be, you know, one arm Tim in the old folks home. Want to be two arm tim on the podcast. That's the guy want to be. So you would stand out in the old folks on you would. Don't you'd have those one arm stories to that's right. But what means more? The love of your family and a wonderful retirement or, you know, one arm stories. Yeah, you know. So I mean I get it and yeah, regular types of careers are not the same as these guys a hundred percent. But you're right, the loyalty to a fan base or a particular city, at least in the NBA, I would say, and now starting NFL, it's starting to go down a little bit. Yeah, you know, they want to make a splash. They want to get on ESPN where they got that wonderful jump shot that got him like, you know, the points at the Buzzer. Everybody wants to make up, make the top plays. Everybody wants to make the top money. Everybody wants to ring. Everybody can't have it. So that's that's why I think that attitude is prevalent. I don't think it's because they're bad people. I just think that's where the sports, sports is a whole, or headed. You know, you want to be a superstar. Everybody wants to be. Yeah, if you can go to a bigger market, more money. Look, West Brookie's gonna do some New Jersey's right. Yeah, yeah, the good look at it. Look at Jimmy Butler. Yeah, this is what fourth team in three years. I mean that says a lot about him. May You can think of these guys as their the owner of their own business, the CEO of their own business, and their business is themselves. Yeah, they're brand and they're they're they're trying to to expand their branding exactly. And and if you're these guys and their families, you know, wouldn't you get tired of moving all around the country to every three four years? Depends on how much you can pay. Now, yeah, I know, but like I could up root for two hundred and fifty. Yeah, we are fifty million to two hundred. I get it. But like it's like, yeah, you are me. You get used to a city or, you know, a lifestyle, where ever you're at, and then I got a new contract. We're going to Memphis, you know, like, yeah, but I think they buy it into that, right, you know, marrying a professional athlete. There's here's always that. Yeah, so, yeah, but it's like, you know, I don't know, I'm not these guys, I don't know what they think, but the check will change your mind, trustmis. Yeah, Yep, the private jet will fly you back and forth wherever you want to help. Yeah, how much is it worth to you? At the end of the day? That's what it is how much is it worth to you? How much is your life worth to this piece of paper that says this is what your life is worth? Yeah, they, they, they're their careers, especially in the NFL, is a limited amount of time and I think the average career in the NFL is like three and a half years or something like that. Less than that, it might be less than that. So they're looking to get paid the absolute maximum amount of money that they can for that brief period of time in their life because they're they know they're not going to be able to do it again. Yeah, and you know a guy who's only playing three and a half years how much? I mean, it's more money than then I'm going to make, you're going to make ever in a lifetime. But I mean it's not comparatively to the to the two professional athletes, what they're making in that brief time is not a ton of money. Right, and you can blow through that money. Personal Whi's just going to say. You know, you get all this money. It's your responsibility, you know, not to blow through it in two years. You know, really, I agree with you one hundred for you to save this money. You know, you shure your families, all right, for their rest of their lives. Oh, Eagles have a they have a program in place where they actually do with rookie orientation, where they train them how to Oh out to manager money. Because you know, how many stories do you get? You get a story like Teoh, yeah, guy had...

...a ton of money and then all of the he's got nothing. Yeah, making for a job, Allen I'Berson, yeah, you went bankrupt. To guys selling their super bowl ring. Yeah, that's a shame. I think happened to me. I still going to have mine I'm dead. They're going to bury me. When you'll sell your knife, your steak knife set before you got rid of that. And I have like Twenty State Knights. Start selling them in the marrow if you want. I'll sign them. A problem, I'll sign them. Yeah, I'll sign autograph knives. Autograph Knives. Can't use them. They go down and value. I use them. Are we got that? Five minutes left? I promise DJ good fifteen to talk women soccer, but that's all right, we'll save it for another show. That's fine. Right, that's fine. I'm sure they'll still be relivant in a couple of weeks. So do we want to talk Philly Baseball? Do we want to talk I have one more football topic, or I want to talk, you know, toy story, for that's relevant. I like. I want to talk about the live action movies. Now, okay, what do you guys will talk about? I Love I love live action, toy stories. I don't know about that, just live action. So we and you and I just saw that last night. I know, I've got the text for me. I saw. What do you think? I liked it. Yeah, you try, when the plastic a fork was hiding in the picts sport. I'm glad it was worky and not to spoil too much at the end, but it was a bit of a sad ending. Yeah, that's their stock in trade. Yeah, absolutely supposed to tug at your heartstrings, maybe right when you were like five. And yes, and they do a fantastic job at that. It was it was overall, was a good movie. It was the worst of the for but I was still great. You know, good move. I have a shout out the Cano Reeves. My man, Duke Ka Boom, you were my favorite character. Is that who played that's who played them. Wow, my favorite character. Man. Love to you on the popause is pretty good. Come in and talk to me about you know what kind of sandwich is. John Wicky, twenty weeks up. I'm sorry for the long protein. The Lion Kings this week. Right, all right, so the Linon King I get. I didn't get a lad I just I don't know. There's certain movies that I just don't think lead into that live avid boy, you that the genie was born in West Philadelphia. Know. Okay, what about what about beauty and the beast? Did you see that? No, I think she did. Least I didn't see Cinderella. I feel like there's certain movies, and maybe this is just the nostalgia piece of it, like they can't be live action. I love Laren King, I love the Laddin. I have no one interest in seeing because the things that they could do animated with the genie. Oh yeah, they don't know how that's going to work in alive action. I just I love will Smith. Don't get me. I saw a lot and and I just saw a toy story for I thought they were both fine. I think they did a good job. I mean it wasn't like the originals of the animation part of it, but I think it was spot on most of it, the storyline and all the things they do. Look at your generation there, Jim, and look at his generation. Yeah, yeah, kids want it live and in their face. We had to deal with the old celluloid strips of Snow White and everything. Okay, that's true. You know from the old school stuff. You Never gonna Love Star Wars the new ones like you loved episode four, five and six. It's the same. That's that's my star wars rule for remakes of movies. You Never gonna love it, and it's a generation thing. Okay, I'm sure if you watch Andrew episode for a new hope, right, Luke Skywalker introduced Han Solo, introduced Princess Leia. Was the original was the best? Do you think that's the Best Star Wars movie? Never seen it. Okay, that's what I'm talking about and shame my deeck. Right, that's that's continuity. Dared Fat, I lost interest in how the third one after the third one and they just make the new one or then coming out in the SEMBER. It's the least one. Now, right now, the final chapter. Yes, I don't supposed to be the last one, and all these offshoots I don't know. Solo didn't do two. Well, so how many total movies are there now for Star Wars? Yes, because there's no nine talking about the cartoon movies to or now. Just a straight up. There's Hollywood movie. There's going...

...to be nine when it's done and it probably don't count rogue one and you don't count Solo and you don't count to the Boba fette thing that's coming up. Yeah, I would say nine, okay, because that's I had heard that three trill which he's I heard that years ago. Is it's I was one under they were still toil George Lucas, like the original. It's stills. It's just those production company, reproduction and but Disney's got, you know, final say. But the woman that went along with the deal was like Lucas's right hand person, consultant, so she makes sure that his vision is still okay, continuing with Disney. But she now, if they took the star wars movies and put them in the cartoons right, they have done right. something. Go go with different way with loan. Yeah, I don't think I would. I was where are you in the clone? Where are you going to go see these live action movies. I'M gonna see the Lion King. I The lion kings my favorite. So I got it. So if they, if they did finding Nemo live action, I don't want to see Bruce the shark as a real great white shark. That's pretty cool, man. Be Pretty Cool. Cool segue into like the next chapter jaws. Be Great, the ghosts of Brody and quint coming up out of the ORCA. Come on, you know I'm most excited about live action. The Philadelphia Eagles, two thousand and nineteen seasonally. Go see a live action version of those games. Everybody can't wait. It's a opening day. See how I brought it back to the sports. It's good, man, shireming. Is it great here? You're hired, no matter what was how that works for back to sports. Two minute lightning round. Here's the quick question. If there's a player on another team within our division that you would take on the eagles right now within who it is? Zeke? Josh Norman? Say Quantek, God, you were going to kill boys. Toll with you to Zee. I'M gonna go with the CON that. Yeah, I got go say corns and look we where did I go wrong? We got our pen state Guy Miles Sanders, but if you tell them I'd give up. Norman.
